Day 4 Edinburgh- take a picnic lunch to Roslin Glen, Roslin Glen is particularly scenic and steeped in history. Leave the Roslin Country Park car park and spend a few minutes walking around the walls of Rosslyn Castle, which dates from 1304. Proceed north along the river valley where it is worth taking a small detour to visit the world famous Rosslyn Chapel which featured in the Da Vinci Code Film. Built in the 15th century, it is famous for its incredibly ornate and beautiful stonework. Photobucket. There are many mysteries pertaining to the Knights Templar connected to this chapel. Fascinating place! Drive on to Stirling, to Stirling Castle where the rests the Stone of Scone, the stone upon which the royalty of Britain have been crowned. The Kings of Scotland resided in Stirling. Photobucket Photobucket
Accommodations- Stirling Highland Hotel- Photobucket
Day 5 Leave Stirling and go to Perthshire. This is the crux of my stay in Scotland. Tour Dunkeld Photobucket and the River Tay District. Photobucket This is home to my dear songster, Dougie Maclean. I would definitely go to his pub outside Dunkeld for a concert.
