One Thousand Gifts (416-425)

Join  Ann Voskamp   here  for  more..

This seems to be    the month of loving  and   sharing  and   expressing appreciation for  the dearest ones  in our lives  so Im dedicating  my posts this month   to them.
Last week I wrote about my sweetheart  and   lover for life...  Lynn....we married in  1972     but  our family  was  completed in  1985  when we  adopted  our  precious   daughter, Amanda!
   I am  so thankful  for
416.  Welcome House  Adoption  agency   in coordination with  Holt International  through which  we  were   connected with  our   beautiful  baby girl,   Hye Eun  from    South Korea.  We named her  Amanda  which  means,
"Worthy of love"

She completed  our  family  when she was  15 weeks old.
417.  She  was  our  "water baby"...  happy  as a lark and   always   interested  in learning  new things..

418. Ever our little  adventurer,  she was   much  happier   climbing   rocks  than  sitting and playing  dolls....  she was  active, and healthy, and  such a    brilliant  child  in so many w ays!

419.  Amanda   was  always  the happiest    little girl, and  loved to make others happy, too!  Ever  thoughtful, even as  a  very young  child,   she thought  she'd like to be  an overseas missionary  bringing life and   salvation to the  dying and the lost.  (Note: today  she is a cancer researcher, and   a  Bible Study teacher)

Instead  of  being  Cinderella,  she wanted to be the fairy God mother...  bringing   happiness to everyone!

420.   Amanda  developed  her  God given talents    through  hard work,  practice, and    sacrifice of time,

but her life was  so  blessed with  opportunities!

Other   wonderful gifts  were singing in a   college children's  choir  which led her to sing  in Carnegie Hall and the Lighting of the  White House  Christmas tree  in 1995, and    high school tennis and  soccer...
Photobucket
but her   most  wonderful     gift  was  music...  she  worked hard to   be honored to  be the  first chair  violinist in our local Youth Symphony, and  she played in the  symphony in college!  Her  playing also,    introduced her to  her   first and only  boyfriend,  Joshua,  and  eventual husband,  who  is a  fabulous talent, as well,
Photobucket
421.  Their  playing   has been  an awesome  blessing  to  us   and our  family!
Photobucket
and  during their lean years   of their  college days  it  helped  provide  a  good living
Photobucket
422.  What   a tremendous blessing  when   Amanda and Joshua  married...
Photobucket
knowing   that  they  are  both secure in   God's Kingdom  and  their  futures  are  secure with their  wonderful education and   work  experiences,  God  has   provided  every good  thing  through  and  for  these  wonderful children!
423.  from  the  very earliest days of our family....
Photobucket
 424.  through the formative and growing years

425. til  today....
Photobucket
Amanda has  brought more  love and joy into our  home and  lives  than   anything   or  anyone  we could  ever imagine....

426.   The wonder of parenthood   is  one of God's  greatest  gifts!

  1. Your daughter has grown into a beautiful young woman. I know you are proud.
Another blog friend is reading this book as well. I need to look for it. Right now, I'm trying to participate in the reading program for my ladies' group at church.
