I love to Plan a Tea

If   you have   followed along  on my journey  you must know  how I love to plan  tea parties.... and this week   I shared  already about the book chat  I am planning    in  late March with  5 of my very best  friends and prayer partners.  We are   reading the most    wonderful book, Holy Fire, and are coming together   over  tea  to   share   what we have learned...  I can hardly wait,   but in the meantime,  I  get the most  delightful joy of  planning....

Yesterday, I stopped in at   the library and   perused all the   glorious  books on teas.  I am so glad  Lynn was with me to tote  the books to the car...I got to spend  a good hour   in the afternoon gleaning the pages  for ideas and   tips to  consider.
My desire is to recreate a scene of  shabby  refinement... for   lack of a better description...  I envision C. S Lewis's library, littered with  stacks upon  stack of books  with overstuffed chairs  indented by the seats of  lofty contemporary  scholars who  had gathered for  just such  endeavors.. to chat over  the  writings of the day...ok...   my vision  will be a bit  difficult  to  implement...  but toward that end, I did  do a bit of  redecor-ating...
Now  please realize this is a work in progress...  for  I still see remnants of Christmas past,  and  our event  will   take place in early spring...   yayayay for spring!  So to begin,  I was just playing around with the furniture.
You will notice that I have pulled  it all into the center of the room,  making for  a cosy,  if   cluttered  arrangement,  focused on the fireplace,

which Lynn promises me will  be  alit...  but  even Lynn told  me this morning, it was growing on him...
One part I  truly  revelled in was  house shopping for just the right book to pile into my little stacks..
Not only for their decorative   addition   by color or  antiquity, but  by their  literative composition  and   interest to  my   sweet group of  friends.
They in themselves will offer  delightful   conversation starters as we are pouring out our tea and    enjoying the    tasty morsels...

it is a tea, after all.

Watch   the blog  for  more   ideas   and to see how it all pans out....   come to think of it, soon, I need to figure out if I will need to purchase any special new pans...   oh,   the ideas a re fluttering about in my head!
*****
PS. I have had a  wonderful  time studying in my  new "reading room"

with my feet   propped up  and my  reading  bag handy
the  setting  is perfection  for my sensibilities... especially,  accompanied by a lovely cup of  Tazo tea.

One of my  springtime themes for the  party will be to showcasae  blue and white for spring  so  I am  enjoying  using my beautiful  transferware...
this cup and saucer is from the Romantic England collection of   Wedgewood, depicting Wiley Lotte's Cottage.
Another     fantastically fun thing I did today was to  add a  page of pins  on my Pinterest    all about planning my Book Chat Tea....  If you have  time check  it out....if I sound giddy, it is because I am!

Specialteas with my Sweethearts!

As I sit here trying to catch up a bit on my blogging  I am  enjoying  a warming  cup of Tazo Zen tea  with  my medicinal  teaspoonful of  cinnamon...
I am remembering    where I was a week ago today.... even though there was  a threat of snow,  Amanda  felt we needed to  get out of the house and  do something  so...   she  chose my favorite past- time...she drove us  to Northboro, MA to a lovely  afternoon tearoom...
an easy drive to this  beautiful Victorian  dwelling...

for   the tastiest luncheon
tarragon   chicken salad.
and a bowl of  potato and leek soup  served up on  home baked bread...lovely..

Lynn  had   a  spectacular quesadilla and   New England cole slaw...

our  tea of the day  was  a favorite...Scottish blend!

I am only sorry  I failed to  photograph  our   delectable  sweets...  I ordered  an array of mini scones.... blueberry,  cinnamon chip  , and cranberry  scones....  oh my....   the cinnamon chip  was  awesome....  I never knew you could  purchase cinnamon chips in the nestle  chip  section of the grocer!
This photo   does  serve to show just how   lovely the dessert selections  are there!

Our  beautiful daughter makes  the perfect tea  companion  along with my dearest!

You can  tell the vintage  atmosphere was  so   cheery...IM peeking over Birdie's stroller to peer into the next room...BTW, Birdie was so good she was invited back!

Even though the  snow  was  flurrying,,,  we were  feeling  quite cosy inside

I  am already looking forward to  our next visit....  and I know what I will get....  but you'll have to wait til then  to find out what!

July is Here!

Good morning, and Happy July!....
I  am  so honored to have been featured   this week on  A Return to Loveliness

I must say, Im not so unhappy with the turbulent summer weather we've experienced here in SW Virginia.... Thankfully, the storms  havent been too damaging, but they surely do keep the temps down, which I really love,,,

and the flowers are heavy in bloom!

This is the fabulous view from my morning porch where I enjoy my first cuppa and meet with the Lord!!!

I am reading the Bible through in chronological order and to be honest I have fallen behind, so this morning I spent my time reading through almost the entire book of Proverbs..... We need to reread this book often to keep our minds fixed on Christ likeness! Anyway, that brought me up to June 17th which is making me f eel somewhat better about being behind!!!

So today seems to be a catchup kind of day..... life events have taken a toll on our time lately and I have taken time now to get in the Patriotic Spirit!

Having the sunroom table ready for what may come seems to keep me in good stead....

of course, I wash  everything prior to dining, but keeping it set motivates me to be more hospitable and prepared for good times with friends!

I love my flower vase I picked up in Williamsburg.... so easy to arrange summer flowers in and makes a patriotic statement, as well!

Our wonderful Old Glory is the most beautiful standard in the world.... may it ever wave!

Today's GO TO Color is.....

Well, the  dreaded   rain  has finally   arrived   to the mid-Atlantic and  we are  in   a  drenching pattern for the next few days.....   might I add, the day is  very dark and drab...

outside,   but inside  I am ecstatic...  my sewing projects are completed and  the  table is cleared...  an empty  canvas  for   inspiration...and  I   am seeing   the   remaining   pink of   azaleas and    peonies   dotting   the   landscape   trying so hard to    keep  their perkiness in the deluge,  so I decide to   accent  a table with  their  go to color and happy  hue!
The black  and white     just  seems to be the perfect transition   for these  drab days,   so, of course,  the transferware  comes out....   I love  it in every season.... and  today  the pink

of  the teapot  and the   candlewreath
along with the  popping  pink of the napkins  lends just enough  cheeriness  to wipe away   the drab of the day!

The Herdsman pattern   transferware  with its  english countryside  motif  charms my fancy and desire to reconnect with my  heritage...

You  mustnt be surprised to  see  a  peaceful  sheep  reposing    nearby...

So  now that   the table is set

Time to    take   time out for  just   me and  the Lord   through His Word...
Time to   finish my Community Bible Study on  Colossians  chapter 3
I love this week's study on  the love of  Christ
A perfect  lesson  on  God's   plan of redemption   and  the sacrificial love of His son  and   how  we  then   must  live  to  please and honor
Him in the world but not of it!!!!
a cup of   healing  green tea  taken  during this time of holy contemplation,  as I share in  the  deep truths of  God's  Word  helps my spirit  to  slow down and   really  apply   the message..
My  pink Desert Rose  on black   from Royal  Albert
is one of my   go to cups,, but more importantly  my go to  book for   finding    the  Truth, the  Light and   Bread of Life  and  the Life  through  Christ's  finished work on the cross  is my copy of  God's own Word, the Bible...
Schotzy!

Your messages mean so much to me..... they are a real encouragement to me!
