1. Security or freedom? Can you have both? Explain. When we adopted our daughter from S. Korea in 1985 we saw Security and Freedom in action. We had to go to the INS building in DC to file for her citizenship and there we witnessed the beauty of legal immigration... Probably a hundred people~ men, women, families from all over the world boning up with their advocate to prepare for their interview, a small quiz on America , testing of their proficiency in speaking English, practicing to sign their signature. It was a precious thing to see how hard they worked and how excited they were to know that soon they would be citizens and would be prepared to assimilate into society. This was the product of the wonderful poem inscribed on the Statue of Liberty.
Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!
Citizenship to these people was the light they had waited in line for... they had worked for, they appreciated because they truly felt great to become an American..

I do not feel secure with what has been happening for over a decade now... people who push in as if it is their right to do so. ... mainly seeking a hand out, they cross illegally in front all of those waiting in line to come legally who fully mean to be productive members of society.
The system today is broken. You cannot expect an illegal person who has already shown to be a criminal in spirit to be allowed to be undetained, then ask them to just be sure to report to their court date a month later.. They hardly ever report and are never vetted and get lost in the population.
Then I look at Germany and Sweden

and I am completely undone by what we are facing and I wonder how in the world can so many liberal thinking folk be pressing our nation to follow Germany's or Sweden's path! I can only turn to God and beseech Him to control this..
2. If you could visit any historical American site what would it be? Why?
As I live in Virginia and near by many American historical sites, I cant think of one Id still like to see.
I was a Virginia history teacher for 30 years, and our daughter's family live right outside of Boston .... I've seen all of the major ones.
3. Free as a bird, free reign, be free of, free enterprise, free trip, walk away scot free, free for all...which 'free' phrase can best be applied to your life in recent days or weeks? Explain.
Thankfully, the most wonderful phrase I can associate with and am so pleased to admit it is.. I am free of 40 pounds of unwanted body mass!!!
4. Something in your frig that's red? Something in your house that's white? Something in your view that's blue?
We always have a quart of fresh and luscious strawberries in our fridge mainly used in our morning yogurt. Our sofa in the living room is white. I am sitting at my desk and I see a blue address book and my social calendar is also, blue.... I love blue by the way!
5. July 27th is National New Jersey Day. Have you ever visited The Garden State? If so where did you go? Are there diners where you live? Have you tried Taylor Pork Roll? Do you like to play Monopoly? Salt water taffy-yay or nay? How do you feel about shopping at the mall? Springsteen, Sinatra, or Bon Jovi-you have to pick one.
In 1991 when she was 6 we took our daughter back to Philly to revisit our process of getting her when she arrived at the airport , we stayed in the same hotel, ate the same places, but before we got to PA, we took a side trip up through Delaware and rode the Ferry from Lewes
(This was a three hour ride across the Delaware Bay.)
to Cape May, New Jersey..Oh, how we loved Cape May

gorgeous Victorian homes, many B and B's

we stayed there a couple of days and would love to go back!We only passed through the rest of the state on our way to Philadelphia.. So I have no idea of anything else about the state.. Of the three crooners, it would have to be Sinatra!

We have worked so hard to prepare our bathroom for the demolition which starts tomorrow. All of the fixtures and items needed will be stored in our basement so much had to to be moved and removed to prepare for that. Thankfully we took a truck load of stuff to Salvation Army Thrift Store yesterday.
Also, the utility closet in the hallway right beside the bathroom will be needed to add additional space to the bathroom and it was full of stuff accumulated over 30 years.. Good grief... It is sorted, and in bags to be meted out into lovely bins inside our fabulous new pantry cabinet we just had delivered yesterday. It resides for now in the dining room, but will eventually find a nice home in the hallway. For now we need to keep that hallway clear. I thought we'd never get to this day and yearned for it,, now it is almost alarming that it has come and all that the demolition will mean to the main level of our home... I pray the plastic sheeting will keep the dust form invading the other rooms!
