Let Us Pray for the Children (P.1)

One of the things that  disturbs me more  than just about anything is to see unruly children .. I see them in  the playground,  at school,  in the restaurant,  at the mall.   Children who have  been allowed to rule themselves and do just want ever they want..  acting  horrible  until they get what they want.   I cannot even imagine how difficult these  children will be  as they enter puberty and    become  sometimes even  larger than their mothers,    or  show  absolutely no respect to anyone, least of  all their own families.  There is an evil  spirit of lawlessness in the world today,  that permeates our cities,  and even our homes.  It crushes my heart that not even our children are  valued enough for some parents not  to want to spend quality time   with them when they are young.  Instead, I suppose the tv or  social media  is their  monitor,  just set them down in front of the tv to entertain themselves for a while to get them out of the way.  I've witnessed it, even  decades ago, and I can only fathom that is is worse today,  because children act out more today.   I am so glad I retired from teaching 21 years ago.  I  wouldn't  be able to  stand  the classroom of today! It is no wonder that our  academic scores  are  lowest  ever. The statistic I saw   was  a long range stat  showing a decline long before covid.  I took a look at  changes in child behavior  over the years. and one  researcher wrote this

"With the passage of time and changing social activities, the behavior of children towards adults is also changing. If we compare children behavior with what it was before, we may see that children behavior has become worse over the years. There are many factors that are contributing to change in children behavior. Some major factors include changing trends shown at TV, changing status of people, attention not giving by parents and poverty. Now a day, the children are deeply involved with latest technologies. Technology has become much advanced as compared to the years ago. Children spent most of the time playing games, watching movies, TV shows and cartoons. They are less indulging in physical activities. Also the games and TV shows they see involve good behavior violations. All they include is fighting, planning bad for someone etc. Though the video games, TV shows and movies are fictitious but they all are having bad impact on children behavior. Children are becoming carefree, thankful-less and they do not appreciate and learn the good things done by others around them.

The family life and family gathering is also going to decline as compared to years ago. Today there is lack of communication between children and parents. In fast moving world, today's parents are not getting enough time for children. Surely, the fault lies with the parents. In early years, in schools, students were also taught about their behavior and attitudes but now today's schooling is more focused on getting just education not behavioral education. Though the education has become far better than before but there is lack of adequate behaviors and respect for authorities, rules and elders."

As  you  probably know, I am  a Bible believing Christian.  and I know that a Bible should be used as a road map for living.   It's Truth includes  self, family and community living.  When it comes to family,  there are   important tenets  that parents  should be teaching their children that they might grow into responsible and loving  young men and women!   My aim in  the next few days, leading up to one of my favorite  holidays,  is to share  some items  that parents  and grand parents   should pray over their children with  verses  related.. included. I will briefly, begin  here..  because I know

  • "So shall my Word be, that goeth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I will,   (God's Will)  and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.     Isaiah 55:11
