A Week of Golf

I must confess  that  our household has been  consumed with the Ryder Cup this week...probably  a lot has to do with the fact that our kids are there  with  tickets this week..This was a great  time for them to reconnect with a lot of  SIL's family who live in Minnesota... but as I much prefer great golf to  any Superbowl,  Nascar race or  Final Four.. The intrigue is so  dynamic with each new hole...  especially the way this tournament is  arranged..Another  fun thing   was that hubs was, of course, cheering  for Team USA while I was  Europe all the way!.. Well, for one thing, European players had the coolest clothes...  that is a fact because Amanda was there and she  pointed it out to me...  and I had to agree! And of  course, my favorite Brit  was playing and  did well, even though he didnt win the point in the end...  But I can't even imagine trying to concentrate when thousands of fans are cheering against you... Yes,  there was a rowdy bunch of fans there for sure.  But  it  has been an  exciting  experience trying to find  the kids in the camera shots...  My eyes are bloodshot from squinting...
Hazeltine Golf Course is  so beautiful

So  just to  enjoy the  beauty of the course was   wonderful,  but  I really enjoyed  watching Rory play..  why is he a favorite?...  My family hails form  Northen Ireland,  as does Rory,  and  after our tour there last year.. my heart  longs to return there.. I  love  everything from NI and  Ireland in general!

at 27 years of age....
May you have many long  years of golf ahead of you!!!!

Just for Fun

I  was enjoying visiting around ....   blog hopping  my  blog roll,  and  when I came to Hospitable Pursuits, Lisa was sharing her      Preference for     lovely  classic  white home trimmed in black and it got me to thinking of my preference...  and I do mean if  money was no object here...   for we are well past  the  time of being about to even dream about our forever  home...  our  last home will  be  all on one floor and    quite a bit downsized...  but  in my   unattainable dreams this side of heaven...  I  will share  what  suits me....  I wonder if at this point any one might guess my style....all I have to go is  drag some pinterest  links on over here... my  maternal ancestors hailed from  Gloucestershire  so this  really  resonates with me!
Things We Love: Ivy
I   love this thatched Irish cottage..
A thatched-roofed Irish cottage...rather appropriate for St. Patty's Day. Love this. Beautiful.:

This is too rustic for me, but stone/tile on the bottom and something else (copper?) on the top might be cool:

how about these  windows and other architectural   elements

Funny email I got today

WHY
GOD MADE MOMS
Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:
Why did God make mothers?
1.  She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2.  Mostly to clean the house.
3.  To help us out of there when we were getting born.
How did God make mothers?
1.  He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2.  Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3.  God made my mom just the same like he made me.  He just used bigger parts.
What ingredients are mothers made of?
1.  God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2.  They had to get their start from men's bones.  Then they mostly use string, I think.
Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
1.  We're related.
2.  God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's mom like me.
What kind of a little girl was your mom?
1.  My mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2.  I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3.  They say she used to be nice.
What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1.  His last name.
2.  She had to know his background.  Like is he a crook?  Does he get drunk on beer?
3.  Does he make at least $800 a year?  Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?
Why did your mom marry your dad?
1.  My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world.  And my mom eats a lot.
2.  She got too old to do anything else with him.
3.  My grandma says that mom didn't have her thinking cap on.
Who's the boss at your house?
1.  Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2.  Mom.  You can tell by room inspection.  She sees the stuff under the bed.
3.  I guess mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.
What's the difference between moms and dads?
1.  Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
2.  Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3.  Dads are taller and stronger, but moms have all the real power cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friends.
4.  Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.
What does your mom do in her spare time?
1.  Mothers don't do spare time.
2.  To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.
What would it take to make your mom perfect?
1.  On the inside she's already perfect.  Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2.  Diet.  You know, her hair.  I'd diet, maybe blue.
If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
1.  She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean.  I'd get rid of that.
2.  I'd make my mom smarter.  Then she would know it was my sister who did it not me.
3.  I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

Red Letter Day

Photobucket

Well, this has been a red letter day. I sent a forward out last night that told me I'd get a miracle today and I do believe this constitutes as such!!! As you know I have been anxiously awaiting activity at my bluebird house and as of last week I did have a lovely couple move in, but the weather has been so cold, there had been so sign of any eggs......until today!!!! I went out to investigate and I had not 1............................................................................

not 2..........................................
but 3 eggs, and since the hen was not sitting on them or whatever you call that she does, HEHHEHEHE, it is supposed that there may actually be more eggs to come. This being the first hatching of the season, the female will lay one egg early every morning until she is through and then she starts sitting on them so they all hatch at once! YAYA!! I called our bluebird trail leader, Dottie, this morning and made my official report for the week! I am so pysched!!!

For lunch today I treated Mom and Dad at Annie Moore's Pub. So great! They really enjoyed the atmosphere, music, and food! It was wonderful fun! Heehee, Mom will probably get me for this one, but she chose to pose getting ready to take a bite instead of smiling for me.

Dad was more cooperative!

Then I went shopping this afternoon and got some great goodies, and when I got home Dogwood had partnered up with Rosebud and were frolicing on the sunroom table!

Photobucket
I need to ask Stacey who really knows her sheep, "Do two lambkins make a flock? "

My New Little Friend

Photobucket
Has a name! I posted about lambkin yesterday and asked Amanda to name him. Now amanda just adores another lamb we know named RoseBud, but she couldn't use that name, although what a perfect name! So along that same theme, I would like to introduce.....
Dogwood! Of course, I know I will shorten this to my favorite Scottish singer's name Doogie, (Dougie MacLean) for short.
BTW, Lynn's middle name, Douglas, is often shortened to Doogie as well, so, ....
Doogie (Dogwood) it is!

Now to see if I can take back my computer from the little scamp! AW!! But he's so cute!

Just for Amanda

Amanda specifically asked for a photo of her dad taken with Daisy, the Innkeepers beautiful dog! HEEHEE Lynn is always afraid I can going to chop of his feet so he made a correction just as I clicked! And then Daisy hightailed back over to her cozy bed on the deck. So Amanda this is it!

Our Fun Excursion

Yesterday Lynn got out of his meeting and was back to the hotel by 1:45 so we jumped in the suv and headed on down through the Tidewater Of Virginia. The day was absolutely glorious! Photobucket The sky crystal clear, and autumn was singing praises in the trees! PhotobucketPhotobucket
We came upon this wonderful new bridge that spans the historic James River and the landscape revealed the expanse of the amazing coastal plain of Virginia, far different from the Blue Ridge Mountains of home.
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
and then we headed due east across myriad forests and murky swamp land

heading all the while to fabulous.... Williamsburg!
