Tuesday 4 Meme

Welcome to Tuesday 4 which was started  by Toni Taddeo and kept up in memory and honor of her.  Hosted by our friend, Ann!!
How about talking about cosmetics and toiletries this week?

Let's jump right in, shall we?

1. What brand of shampoo do you think works best for you and what does it do for you?

I  suppose people will call me El Cheapo,  but I really do like Sauve products..
Suave Professionals Volumizing Shampoo, 12.6 oz, Size: 14, Multicolor
I love their Professional line of products..  This volumizing    shampoo  really does give my limp hair life and  I love how squeaky clean it makes my hair!!!

2. Do you have a favorite  brand and shade of lipstick and blush?

ever since  was  in college I  have gone for the peachy  colors...  or  apricot..  My roommate used to call me peachy because I had a peaches and cream complexion  For  this late in the winter season I would love this   Blushed  shade!Revlon #420...  Revlon products have never let me down!

I like    my blush to be   cream... because  my skin is so dry.. right now I am using Elizabeth Arden's  cream  blush in a tone very similar to that lipstick color!  Just a bit lighter.

Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Cream Blush, Plum

3. Is soap your favorite for face washing or do you use other products?

I must use very mild soaps.  I generally use Dove or Olay soap.

4. Do you have an all time favorite perfume or scent that you wear? If you don't wear perfumes, is there a scent that you love in general?
Since college I have enjoyed wearing White Shoulders, because Hubs loves it so much!
White Shoulders Eau de Cologne Spray - 0.85 fl oz
I use it  any season,, it has a soft and sweet  aromatic that doesnt linger on me  and  feel    to brazen!

This last post she shared is one of the most precious and exemplifies her heart to the world.

A Repeat ~ Just Wondering

1. When was the last time you tried something new?:
I  made up a new recipe last night. I  needed to use up some eggs and  a couple slices of very expensive country  deli ham. ($22. /lb)  so I    sauteed  onion, red pepper, and the ham in butter with   Worcestershire, and  I added a dash of nutmeg..  after it was  all    cooked through I mixed up 4 eggs with some half and half  and shredded Parmesan cheese and poured over all in the  saute pan  then  place the  over proof pan in the oven for  35 minutes.  YUM!  The nutmeg was a good  choice.    Went very well with all!

2. Who in your family do you compare yourself to?:
I still am much like my mother.. I even saw her face staring back at me in the mirror this morning and I smiled!

3. What lesson in life did you learn the hard way?:
Well, I didn't learn it well,  but  to pass my  required swimming course... believe me.. it was  so very hard!!!

4. What can you do today that you weren't able to do before?:
I  really do not like this question  because I am always reminded of what I used to do  that cannot anymore like jump or run.   But I will say, I  was an accomplished pianist  as a young student.. I played Rhapsody in Blue for my  final recital..   but over time  I have  gone very rusty.. My eyes have been partly to blame...  nevertheless, I  had gotten so I was actually afraid to even try to play but yesterday I  pulled out my Christmas carol book and practice through the book.  I spent a good hour  playing getting better and better. more and more fluid!  I am so glad I  have overcome my   deep feeling against playing.  BTW,  since my cataract correction  my eyes are no longer an issue!

A Repeat ~ Just Wondering

1. When was the last time you tried something new?:
every time I decorate for Christmas I try something new.. especially the years we do not  buy a live tree.. I love lots of lights and so I'm always looking for ways  to light up something!!!

2. Who in your family do you compare yourself to?:
I am most like my mother,  I  got  most of her giftings.  in  homemaking, cooking,  decorating , thriftiness, etc.  But, Alas,  as I age I  become more like her in  that I  think I may be becoming a bit more critical...  I don't want to  but it  just comes out sometimes!

3. What lesson in life did you learn the hard way?:
I learned every thing a young teen girl  needs to know  the hard way, because I was so backward and shy.  I didn't actually come out of my shell  until; my 30's   when I finally figured out we are all basically the same,    and  you can take me or leave me.. it didn't matter..  but most people took me  because I  am naturally a very nice and kind person!  At least that is what I am told!(I am only critical to  my very closest family and  best  friends..  but  with them we are more like sisters and  we have to give and take and we do!!)

4. What can you do today that you weren't able to do before?:I am perfectly comfortable doing things,  singing,    teaching adults,   giving talks  before    groups of people. ...  actually enjoy it...  But  it was a while in coming..

Hosted by Toni!
Holiday Favorites

1. Favorite Holiday Of Yours?:
Christmas, of course!!!  Such wonderful memories of Christmases past!

2. Favorite Holiday Character In A Movie?:
Unbelievably,  the first one I thought of was Scrooge and his redemptive story!
Image result for joyous scrooge

3. Favorite Holiday Dish Or Dessert To Make?:
Christmas   Scones
                                      Cranberry  Walnut Scones

3 c  Virginia’s best  self rising flour
1 T baking powder
½ c sugar
¾ c butter…slice in  tablespoon  slices  to make  working it in  easier   work it in until   the flour is  fully mixed  with butter  and looks like coarse crumbles
1 c fresh cranberries… I added golden raisins to make a cup
½ c chopped  English walnuts.. I used pecans
1 1/2 T orange zest
1 c buttermilk  I used  clabbered milk  ( 1 cup milk  with 1 table of  white vinegar)
To top  unbaked scones.
1 T cream or milk
1 T sugar mixed with ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
Stir together all dry ingredients at top  of list..   Rub the butter  slices into the mixture until  only coarse crumbs form…   Like  cornmeal….  Incorporate the butter evenly.. no large  chunks….Stir in cranberries, nuts, and  zest. Add buttermilk and mix with a fork until evenly moistened.  I  didn’t  mix  it too much  and  as soon as I saw it coming together  I  poured it out on a floured surface and  shaped it into a  ball.   Pat the ball into a  ¾ inch thick circle.    Don’t work the dough too much…   it should be  fairly easy to  work with   you will have a lot on your fingers
As it will be moist. So  incorporate just enough flour     so not so sticky
   But  keep it   pliable.
Cut  rounds with a biscuit cutter and place on a greased sheet. Brush tops with the cream or milk and  sprinkle the sugar mixture on top.    Bake at 400 for 14-16 minutes or until  golden…  if you desire  lightly sprinkle with  powder  sugar.
 Cream topping:
8 oz  cream cheese.  I used mascarpone and thought it was much  better.  But  it is  much more expensive
  1 T  zest
2 T honey  but I didn’t have honey so I sued 1 T of orange Marmalade  This is a fine  spread for any  specialty bread!

4. Favorite Holiday Weather You Wish For?:
Snow, of course!

All In A Day

1. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? All in all about 20 minutes.. I am very low maintenance

2. Do you like to clean house every day or leave it for another day?I try to do a little bit every day so it doesn't amount to so much on another day.

3. What is your least favorite thing to do that you have to do every day?
I am  terrible, I admit it,  but over these years I have passed the least favorite things to Hubs.. He vacuums, and he  carries the laundry down and up.   Unless he has done a ton of yard work,  he usually  wants to do the dishes  after I cook the meal.  When he has worked really hard outside, I do the dishes.
4. After all is said and done what is your favorite way to relax?I relax while I watch TV,  or  sit  vacantly at the computer,  or  read  a book.

Tuesday Meme Designer's Choice

Hosted by Toni!

Designer's Choice (Use Photos If Possible)...

1. My home would be in the style of?

I live in the home of my dreams...  even as we are considering moving into a one floor  dwelling  I  cannot imagine living anywhere else...
Our home is considered to be a modified English Tudor..

I would love for  the Gaines to do a  redo on our front aspect...  put stucco and  decorative timber  above the brick  to  bring back the  Tudor   style.

Tudor Lite - Exterior Paint Colors - The Decorologist

Elements like this  plank door,   gentle archways,  style of fireplace,    and the thick decorative stucco walls are not  seen  from a view of the home.

2. My kind of furniture style is?

My style   is traditional with a bit of the Olde English thrown in for good measure..Here is the reading corner in our bedroom

Our recently  redone kitchen

We  soon afterward  got our new  stainless  stove

3. My floors would be covered with?
Hard wood throughout  with  Karastan area rugs in most rooms

4. My landscaping would look like?
When we bought this home  30 years ago  the write up said it  had a park-like yard...  the yard is very big almost an acre... with many trees.  We have actually  cut down over  30 trees and  planted probably 15 back.  Through the sun room window

 A  lovely tea party,

  summer greens

Autumn  explosion

Spring surprises

Some of these photos are  older than others...  I reminisced putting this together  about how  our  seasons have changed.  In 2011  both of my parents  moved into different  nursing facilities and  I just didn't have time to  decorate  as much...
then  in  since 2014,  we have  travelled  back and forth from Boston  a lot  during and prior to holidays and I just do not decorate as much anymore, but   things  are  beginning to be different now that that the girls are older...  They will be coming here  if they want to see us over the holidays.
Just for fun.. if money was no object.. well  I love  these  I have on pinterest!
