Happy Homemaker Monday

Our hostess is found here~
The weather:

One more week of  80's   weather...  but no rain so  the mildew is  disappearing.. YAYAYAAY

                        Things that make me happy::

My morning coffee....all types of instrumental music.. right now I'm listening to The Piano Guys station on Pandora.. love it!!!  Biblical Women's Conferences...we had one at our church
Image result for cave spring baptist church
last Friday and Saturday  I am still floating higher and higher... We studied the book of Philippians...it was beautifully decorated  with  strings of lights draped in rows from the ceiling,  and the  stage  was reminiscent of  a  Roman forum  really  gorgeous; the food was smashing..  catered by Panera with  the  baked items, as well.. the Speakers from our  church women  could have  held their own on any platform  with any women scholars of renown!!! I think I will carry the glory of it with me for some time to come!

Books I'm reading:

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

Image result for guernsey and potato peel society

Plus some Bible Studies.. on James,  and Isaiah.

On the blog last week:
I shared on Stacy's page   my Weigh In  post for the week.   So many tips about   endeavoring to become more healthy
Thankful Thursday where I am recounting  my  blessings of the week.

And my Autumn Around the House post...  Gradually  I'm getting there!!
Shows and Movies:
Since we can watch Mad Men on netflix  we  watch sevearl episodes each night..  and  tonight we  begin the last season...  Things are really  falling apart for  some of the main characters...  characters, as bad as they are, you are still rooting for them to  find redemption!
We are going to need some   recommendations    .. anyone   using Netflix!

Menu Plan:

Monday: left over bbq from Mission BBQ
Tuesday: Soup and sandwich
Wednesday :BBQ chicken dinner
Thursday:  Chef salad
Friday: take out

On my To Do List:
laundry, Eye specialist to    test  and prep for my cataract/glaucoma/astigmatism correction on Friday..
CBS Bible Study....keep up with the homework..  I  couldn't get it all done last week!!!
work on closets upstairs  trading out  clothes  to store and to bring forward
Eye Surgery

In the craft basket:
I am still creating  Tasha Tudor  Sparrow Nest stationary for  my wee ones  to share with them at  our next visit..  I hope they will take this precious routine seriously.. to build  love, respect, and  forgiveness  between young siblings.
I ordered this  vintage set of how to make  the miniature  envelopes from Etsy..
The SPARROW POST Set of Miniature Stationary - Tiny Note Card Set - Doll Stationary

Still have a couple of books  to order and  I did the materials last week to create the tiny envelops...  I may start this  soon.

Looking forward to this week:
I couldn't believe that I got my surgery scheduled for  this week... for me it has been one thing after another... but my nose skin graft is doing great... and  after all Ive been through recently  I am really looking forward to just getting this eye surgery  behind me.It is a  bit disconcerting having three things done.  But  the outcome will be wonderful.. Praise God for  making these  procedures possible...  It is all God!!

                                           On my mind:

I am glad I have learned that God is in control of all things...
He brings me through every trial and every circumstance...  I have learned there is nothing to fear...    today Hubs  reminded me of finances...this month  we have  had  insurance, taxes,   4 new tires,  looking at needing a new washing machine..  and  one of my new lenses is 850.00 out of pocket.  It seems there is no end to the "leakage"  but  I know that Jehovah Jireh provides.  It will all work out in the end..  Trust, hope, love, and  keep the faith!

Prayer Requests:

For my eye surgery to go well with no complications

The President and his family, and the administration

Pray that all the scandals and investigations will finally be resolved and justice meted out.
That the what I believe to be false accusations against Kavanagh will be  determined  political attacks and that   that party will stopping stooping so low  causing political ruin to  their opposition.

For the God's best person be quickly voted into the Supreme Court position

Pray that the scales that delude so many will fall off  the many and that they will find peace, truth, and salvation
Pray against division and the hatred that runs rampant
Pray for the sick that they might be healed
Pray for the the Carolinians  in their  loss and devastation...  Help them to be thankful  for  what they do have..their lives...  for those who lost loved ones,  we pray for  the Lord to comfort and supply all their needs
We pray for  compassion and mercy to reign among God's people to serve, help, and  provide  for    those who need so much,, showing the love of Christ to the world

Pray for the lost who are bewildered and strained to the max... they are hopeless in need of a loving savior!

New Recipe I will try this week:
Traditional Apple-Walnut Charoset
Epicurious March 2006
yield: Makes about 4 cups
This is a standard Ashkenazi (Eastern European) recipe, with a little brown sugar added for depth.

Ingredients
3 medium Gala or Fuji apples, peeled, cored, and finely diced
1 1/2 cups walnut halves, lightly toasted, cooled, and coarsely chopped
1/2 cup sweet red wine such as Manischewitz
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
Preparation
In large bowl, stir together all ingredients. Store, covered, at room temperature until ready to serve.
Notes: ·l;For the most even texture, we recommend dicing the apples by hand. However, to save time, they can be chopped in the food processor — just be careful not to overprocess.

In the craft basket:
I hope to make a couple more easter cards to send out on Wednesday

Homemaking Tip for this week:
Here are some general soup tips:
* Start your meats and veggies in cold water. It helps to draw out the flavors. * Always simmer on the lowest temperature you can and cover.
* Use dried herbs. They seem to work better for soups than fresh herbs.
* Salt at the end. I usually add my other spices at the beginning and then, at the end, add the salt and a little more of anything else I think it may need. Soup takes a lot of salt. If your soup just doesn't seem to have any flavor, chances are you need more salt.
* If you get too much salt, add a potato to it to cut the salty taste. (The potato will absorb some of the salt.)

I love this time of year!!!!

Lesson learned the past few days:
When opportunities arise that you really would rather dismiss and but you know that doing them is most important to your livelihood, just dont think, just get up and put that foot right in front of the other. It is the getting started that is the most difficult. It really is worth the trouble and the effort. ( I am speaking of the sub job I really, really didnt want to do today bit I really really needed to do it
On my Prayer List:
My family, Amanda's job, Sunday school listing, our nation

R. The Lord is my light and my salvation. When evildoers come at meto devour my flesh,My foes and my enemiesthemselves stumble and fall.
R. The Lord is my light and my salvation.Though an army encamp against me,my heart will not fear;Though war be waged upon me,even then will I trust. R. The Lord is my light and my salvation.I believe that I shall see the bounty of the LORDin the land of the living.Wait for the LORD with courage;be stouthearted, and wait for the LORD.
