God's Promises

I have been focused on the importance of prayer for our nation during possible difficult times ahead.... it is helpful to pray these scriptural promises back to the Lord!  Everywhere we turn we see and hear warning signs that 2012 may be a turbulent year..

  • staying close and knowing the promises of God in His Word to us will strengthen our resolve and hope, and build our faith in Him to endure whatever may come!

    • "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose." Romans  8:2

  • "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy paths acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5,6

"But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19

"The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want." Psalm 23:1

"Humble yourselves therefore unto the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time:
Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you." 1 Peter 5:6,7

"Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the Lord, to the mighty One of Israel." Isaiah 30:29

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31

"Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee." Isaiah 26:3

"Fear thou not; for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee, yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness." Isaiah 41:10

"When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee," Isaiah 43:2

"Be careful for nothing; but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made know to God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6,7

"In God I have put my trust: I will not be afraid what men can do unto me." Psalm 56:11

"Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord." Psalm 27:14

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord." Romans 6:23

"But God commanded His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." 1 John 5:11, 12

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13

Christian Brotherhood

Photobucket

I  am contemplating  this question this morning....  do we  realize just how important our  Christian  family is to us....  the love of others  as  Christ  loves us    and through us    is an elemental  component of our faith walk.  The Word of God has a lot to say on  our Christian brotherhood.

1 John 4:20

If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.Today  in Sunday School,  we discussed  how  we are so  moved  by the visible world... our  visible  circumstances  and the people  around us who touch  our lives.. sometimes for   good and sometimes   for our detriment..    But  we are to  love one another,   just as God loves us!.

Galatians 3:28

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Because we are Christians there are no geopolitical boundaries between us; there are no racial barriers; there are no cultural obstacles. Why? We have the bond of brotherhood in Christ, a bond that is stronger than any other. In that moment when we were talking, my identity was his identity and that made us one.  This is the power of the Holy Spirit working in us....

John 13:34

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.

One source I read  said the following

"Often times Christians forget that we, if remaining faithful, will share Heaven. Yet, they want to hate each other here on this earth. The Bible tells us how we should continue in our walks with brothers and sisters. (Hebrews 13:1) "Let brotherly love continue.

John 13:35

By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!" ( Psalm 133:1)

Another  source  had this to offer...

Jesus said, "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another" (John 13:35). The love that worldlings see in the church should be so distinctive and superior that they will recognize it as coming from God... In  Matthew    5:13 Jesus also states we are the light of the world .. how we live, speak, treat one another,  do  business,    dwell in the community, in all things  we must  allow the  light of the Lord  who indwells us shine out into the dark world..    We must be defined by our love, our  integrity, our humility, and  desire to serve others..  The Christian walk isnt  easy...  it  isnt self seeking or lazy..  but it is a magnificent calling  from on high   to walk  with  the glory of Christ in us   empowered to do good works  by the presence of His Holy Spirit with us!

A Song of Spiritual Renewal through our Repentance

Ashes

We rise again from ashes,
from the good we've failed to do.
We rise again from ashes,
to create ourselves anew.
If all our world is ashes,
then must our lives be true,
An offering of ashes,
An offering to You. --> -->

We offer You our failures,
we offer You attempts;
The gifts not fully given,
the dreams not fully dreamt.
Give our stumblings direction,
give our visions wider view,
An offering of ashes,
An offering to You. --> -->

Then rise again from ashes,
let healing come to pain;
Though spring has turned to winter,
and sunshine turned to rain.
The rain we'll use for growing,
and create the world anew,
From an offering of ashes,
An offering to You.

... Thanks be to the Father,
who made us like Himself.
... Thanks be to His Son,
who saved us by His death.
... Thanks be to the Spirit,
who creates the world anew,
From an offering of ashes,
An offering to You

This week is the beginning of the Lenten season...beginning on Ash Wednesday and going through Holy Week ending on Holy Saturday,,, right before Resurrection Sunday. Lent is a time of sacrifice for Jesus. The traditional purpose of Lent is the preparation of the believer — through prayer, self.sacrifice and repentance— for the annual commemoration during Holy week   and the subsequent death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This practice is common to much of Christendom, being celebrated by Catholics, Lutherans, Methodists,  Presbyterians, and Anglicans.   Because of my varied Christian background I do see the benefit in my life in sacrificing during this 40 days vigil of expectation to Holy Week.
There are traditionally forty days in Lent which are marked by fasting, both from foods and festivities, and by other acts of penance. The three traditional practices to be taken up with renewed vigor during Lent are prayer , justice towards God), fasting (justice towards self), and giving (justice towards neighbour). Today, some people give up a vice of theirs, add something that will bring them closer to God, and often give the time or money spent doing that to charitable purposes or organizations.
I am committing to be much more careful in my healthful practices... trying to get more exercise and watching my food controls... perhaps doing some fasting from certain foods that I know a re not good for me... and I am dedicating more time to my personal relationship with the Lord...  giving more time to Bible reading as well as daily prayer focus...  Together as a family we are saving toward being able to give more to the  Spring Missionary effort in our church....focusing on God and His kingdom is what it is all about..  pressing in for more of Him and allowing Him dominion over our lives....  that is a two street to heaven...   heavenly gifts from our Father to ourselves and then to our world!

Watch, Wait, Stay Alert,

Another blog I follow is Sonja's Deep Calls Unto Deep.  Her blog name grabbed my attention in the beginning because it comes from my very  favorite passage in the Scriptures, Psalm 42, which speaks to the deep intimacy Christ is calling us to experience in Him..  Sonja is sharing a thoughtful yet alarming  post this week and I am borrowing it, yet expanding it into areas in which I ,too, have been awaken to in my spirit.  Sonja shared this video Id like to also share with you now...

I find the events that are expressed in the song are just the tip of an ever growing ice berg that is catapulting along at alarming speed...
A prayer partner shared with us recently about the possibility that current events may be the fulfilment of the prophecy we find in Psalm 83
A song. A psalm of Asaph.
 1 O God, do not remain silent;
do not turn a deaf ear,
do not stand aloof, O God.
2 See how your enemies growl,
how your foes rear their heads.
3 With cunning they conspire against your people;
they plot against those you cherish.
4 “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation,
so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.”
 5 With one mind they plot together;
they form an alliance against you—
6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,
   of Moab and the Hagrites,
7 Byblos, Ammon and Amalek,
Philistia, with the people of Tyre.
8 Even Assyria has joined them
   to reinforce Lot’s descendants.[b]
9 Do to them as you did to Midian,
as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon,
10 who perished at Endor
and became like dung on the ground.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,
all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
12 who said, “Let us take possession
   of the pasturelands of God.”
13 Make them like tumbleweed, my God,
   like chaff before the wind.
14 As fire consumes the forest
or a flame sets the mountains ablaze,
15 so pursue them with your tempest
and terrify them with your storm.
16 Cover their faces with shame, LORD,
so that they will seek your name.
 17 May they ever be ashamed and dismayed;
   may they perish in disgrace.
18 Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD—
that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.

A Bible Scholar has researched this biblical tribes and  the facts show the following
Edom-Palestinian refugees
Moab- sons of Lot.. Jordan
Hagarites- Egypt
Gebal- Beirut, Lebanon
Ammon  - Jordan
Amelek- Lebanon
Philistia,people of Tyre. Palestine (Gaza),
Assyria-
It is noted that these peoples make up an inner ring of nations that surround Israel.  Psalm 83 speaks of an unholy alliance of nations that seek to conspire against and destroy the nation of Israel.    One can not view a news outlet lately without some mention of turmoil in,  and flux going on within, this inner ring... are events  coalescing to culminate in the  mighty conflict we read about in the Psalm...?  If so, this would signal to us just how very close we are to what the scriptures also call the End of Days.  The video mentions that there will come a time when it will be too late...  too late for what?    Too late for anyone who has heard the gospel message of Jesus but has neglected to repent and turn to and accept his gift of grace and salvation...  for them on that day there will be no further opportunity...  for those who believe and have confessed with their mouth Jesus Christ as Lord, will be raptured.  Taken up in a cloud  to begin the glorious eternity with God the Father in heaven.  But woe to those who are left behind...the terrible time of tribulation will come upon the earth  like no time mankind has ever experienced.  It will be too late for those then to cry out for  salvation and peace... for  the  spirit of God will have left the earth with those who were called up. the book of Revelation will explain  this horrible time....  but other passages tell us to watch and wait...
.  Luke 12:37-38

37 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. 38 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak.
Mark 13:33

33 Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.

Biblical Ponderings

This is a day of thoughtful contemplation as I consider where we are going and where we have been... the words of this song keep running through my head... a song of great joy in times of immense trouble... a song for today.
Lyrics to Be Ye Glad :In these days of confused situations
In these nights of restless remorse,
When the heart and the soul of a nation
Lay wounded and cold as a corpse

From the grave of the innocent Adam
Comes a song bringing joy to the sad.
Oh your cry has been heard and the ransom
Has been paid up in full, be ye glad

Chorus:
Oh, be ye glad, oh, be ye glad.
Every debt that you've ever had
Has been paid up in full by the grace of the Lord.
Be ye glad, be ye glad, be ye glad

So be like lights on the rim of the water
Giving hope in a storm sea of night
Be a refuge admist the slaughter
Of these fugitives in their flight

For you are timeless and part of a puzzle.
You are winsome and young as a lad.
And there is no disease or no struggle
That can pull you from God, be ye glad

Repeat Chorus (x2)
Scriptural Reference:

"But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy." Isaiah 65:18 (KJV)

Occupy and Defend

Photobucket
I love this poem by Christopher because it depicts our spiritual battle we fight each and every day as we occupy the land God has given us and intercede for others... intercede for healing, deliverance, and blessings!

Walk out my front door
Into the battle zone
Not knowing if I will come home
Preparing for the fight that is upon me
My body trembling with fear
But my heart with the help of one stays clear
Fighting for their lives, fighting for their lives
I’m a soldier for my Lord
And I’m fighting for their lives
Armed with his word and love
I go out against the evil
That’s trying to bring me down
Temptation attacking
But my armor is defending
My heart is heavy
For the ones unprotected
I want to profess his love
But the battle zone is a sad place
He is offering the armor of love
But they ignore and choose to fight alone
I am only a messenger
But I love them so
So everyday I walk out that door
I live, I love, likes it’s my last
I live, I love, like my Lord has asked

God's Cure for the Post Christian Syndrome 2

So the church of today has become a dry wilderness because believers are not honoring God just as the priests of old brought second rate sacrifices to the temple... believers are practicing worldliness instead of godliness ever increasingly..."Multiple statistical data show a turning away form the laws and ways of the God of the Bible.... Examples of these sins abound including divorce, abortion, disregarding the needy and poor, injustice, promiscuity, homosexuality, ... instead of practicing God's comprehensive law of love,,, which unselflshly seeks the true good of others above one's own self,, we see self seeking treacheries....Mal. 2:10 describes treachery within the church and literally also this abounds in our nation... just as Judah in vs 11 practiced treachery.. Ill leave the scripture for you to follow up on.. Our author goes on to ask...what causes so much treachery in our churches and our nation? It is the natural result of being unaware of God thinking that He does not know or will not hold them accountable for their actions. Once a people become unaware of God in practice, then they will turn away from God's ways for us..Mal. 3:7 says "From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my stautes and have not kept them. Return to me and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts! God is waiting for HIs people to return to Him... but for how long... We can look at Malachi to see what happened to Judah...

The Book, God's Cure for the Post Christian Syndrome

Our study on the book by our teacher, Jim Tarter, describes the church today as a dry wilderness.. whereby one might experience widespread treacherous betrayal, gossip, slander, and a loss of unselfish love which is causing a lack of peace and joy as well as unity... He goes on to say that widespread arrogance breeds unhealthy competition and put-downs from almost everywhere... A loss of good character in the marketplace, our government, schools, the family, and our entertainment, all demonstrate symptoms of an underlying disease in our country and our churches.... that underlying diseas, the dry wilderness, has a underlying cause which is the christians' lack of honoring God... allowing Him to become irrelevant in our society... this current predictament is foretold in the book of Malachi..a must read as we continue on with this thread of thought in up-coming posts!

Spiritual Warfare

The enemy is a very real entity which the Bible warns us to... Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (IPeter 5:8)
At this moment I really feel that the enemy is stalking me... how strange that just this morning I was reveling in the joy that comes from the Holy Spirit... His guidance, counsel, and direction... then bam.. the enemy seeks to batter me with disillusionment, disappointment, and I am shaken to a low point of anger and melancholy! Oh, how the enemy is a divisive and dispicable being. I will not allow him to hold sway over me and my thoughts. His ammunition today has been cruel and defeating, his lies, subversive and daunting, yet, I will not be consumed by them... for greater is He who is in me, that he who is in the world. Romans 8 tells us...
starting verse 37... in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[m] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord". Oh, praise you Lord, for your unswerving love, your lovingkindness which is better than life. That even when the enemy is knocking at the door, I will not be moved, for thou art with me!Together we are invincible!

Monday, March 16, 2009

This year I am paying great heed to the Jewish calendar and studying how it relates to the Christian view and world occurences. Last week was the feast of Purim which was celebrated when Esther saved her people from certain annihilation. She had just fasted for 3 days seeking God's help in approaching her husband the king, the most powerful man in the world at that time. Purim began the preparation of the the coming passover which will be observed early April, on Good Friday. This past Saturday was Shabbat Parah which occurs on the Shabbat following Purim, and marks the beginning of formal preparations for Pesach (Passover). The special Torah reading, Numbers 19:1-22, discusses a ritual of purification involving a red heifer (in Hebrew, parah adumah). Specifically, the ritual purifies people from the ritual impurity that comes from contact with the dead. At the end of the ritual, the people are purified, but the person who performed the ritual becomes temporarily impure.
The rabbis speak of the ritual of Parah Adumah as the greatest of mysteries: it makes the impure pure, and makes the pure impure. This proves that the rabbis were all men, because any woman knows that when you clean a house, you start with a clean sponge and a dirty house and you end with a dirty sponge and a clean house, and there is no great mystery in this!
The passage is chosen for this time because of the need to purify oneself for Pesach, in preparation for pilgrimage to Jerusalem and the Temple. The corresponding haftarah portion is Ezekiel 36:16-38, which also talks about purification.
Now how does this relate? Easter is coming up and it is a good idea to start meditating again on what Jesus did for us and making sure that we are being the representative of Christ that we should be. I have taken these words form my dear Bible teacher Marlene who leads our Wednesday group. I have always wondered why God gave us such a detailed accounting of the various feasts in the old testament, unless they are meant for us to observe in correlation with the True One to whom they point, Jesus! In these perilous times, I truly believe there is a powerful message within this correlation for us to help us reflect more of who Jesus is and who we are in Him!!!
Numbers 19;1-22
19:1 The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron: 19:2 “This is the ordinance of the law which the Lord has commanded: ‘Instruct the Israelites to bring you a red heifer without blemish, which has no defect and has never carried a yoke. 19:3 You must give it to Eleazar the priest so that he can take it outside the camp, and it must be slaughtered before him. 19:4 Eleazar the priest is to take some of its blood with his finger, and sprinkle some of the blood seven times directly in front of the tent of meeting. 19:5 Then the heifer must be burned in his sight – its skin, its flesh, its blood, and its offal is to be burned. 19:6 And the priest must take cedar wood, hyssop, and scarlet wool and throw them into the midst of the fire where the heifer is burning. 19:7 Then the priest must his clothes and bathe himself in water, and afterward he may come into the camp, but the priest will be ceremonially unclean until evening. 19:8 The one who burns it must wash his clothes in water and bathe himself in water. He will be ceremonially unclean until evening.
19:9 “‘Then a man who is ceremonially clean must gather up the ashes of the red heifer and put them in a ceremonially clean place outside the camp. They must be kept for the community of the Israelites for use in the water of purification – it is a purification for sin. 20 19:10 The one who gathers the ashes of the heifer must wash his clothes and be ceremonially unclean until evening. This will be a permanent ordinance both for the Israelites and the resident foreigner who lives among them.
Purification from Uncleanness
19:11 “‘Whoever touches the corpse of any person will be ceremonially unclean seven days. 19:12 He must purify himself with water on the third day and on the seventh day, and so will be clean. But if he does not purify himself on the third day and the seventh day, then he will not be clean. 19:13 Anyone who touches the corpse of any dead person and does not purify himself defiles the tabernacle of the Lord. And that person must be cut off from Israel, because the water of purification was not sprinkled on him. He will be unclean; his uncleanness remains on him.
19:14 “‘This is the law: When a man dies in a tent, anyone who comes into the tent and all who are in the tent will be ceremonially unclean seven days. 19:15 And every open container that has no covering fastened on it is unclean. 19:16 And whoever touches the body of someone killed with a sword in the open fields, or the body of someone who died of natural causes, or a human bone, or a grave, will be unclean seven days.
19:17 “‘For a ceremonially unclean person you must take some of the ashes of the heifer burnt for purification from sin and pour fresh running water over them in a vessel. 19:18 Then a ceremonially clean person must take hyssop, dip it in the water, and sprinkle it on the tent, on all its furnishings, and on the people who were there, or on the one who touched a bone, or one killed, or one who died, or a grave. 19:19 And the clean person must sprinkle the unclean on the third day and on the seventh day; and on the seventh day he must purify him, and then he must wash his clothes, and bathe in water, and he will be clean in the evening. 19:20 But the man who is unclean and does not purify himself, that person must be cut off from among the community, because he has polluted the sanctuary of the Lord; the water of purification was not sprinkled on him, so he is unclean.
19:21 “‘So this will be a perpetual ordinance for them: The one who sprinkles the water of purification must wash his clothes, and the one who touches the water of purification will be unclean until evening. 19:22 And whatever the unclean person touches will be unclean, and the person who touches it will be unclean until evening.’”

How merciful is our father who made a plan of salvation by which we are released from the law of the Old Covenant and live under the grace of His New Covenant! For it is by the pouring out of Jesus' precious blood that we have redemption of our sins, and that is the ONLY Way! Thank you, Lord!

More Timely Prayer Concerns

I urge everyone who reads this blog to visit Joel Rosenberg's Epicenter site and read his Flash Traffic update today. I join with him in congratulating President Elect Obama and will be praying for him and our nation everyday. However... there are very serious concerns we must also pray about as stated in Joel's newsletter pertaining to a shift in the Middle East that has dire ramifications to us.
Sign up for his Flash traffic Updates here. Also, seen here. These timely, informative newsletters really help to focus our prayerlife. I have not read Rosenberg's book, Epicenter, but understand it is a powerful read. He certainly does have a heart beating for the Middle East.
Biblically, we know we must as a nation stand beside Israel. God would Not have the apple of His eye give up any more land to another group. Please continue to pray fervently for Israel and that our nation will continue to stand beside her.

A New Season for Wings of Eagles

As we move into this new season of preparation,..... for the outcome of the election,.... the holidays,....the transition we have in our church...it is as if God is becoming more and more apparent to me. The veil is becoming thinner and thinner and I am seeing beyond what it physical right into the supernatural in so many areas,....Glory to God! I see the enemy is on the run. He knows his time is short and he is pulling out the stops in the world, in believer's lives, in the body of Christ. This election is definitely a spiritual battle. Already it has caused division in families- mine, included. It has caused division in communities and across the country. I can just mention Sarah Palin's name and be personally attacked- even in my mother's church- I was personally attached 2 times in a matter of five minutes by two separate people whom I have known and loved for years. Satan wants inmity, strife, and he uses confusion, deception, and fear to bring about his purposes. But...
he is impotent before God! Hallelujah! He is nothing and can do nothing without the express will of the Father that allows him to wreak havoc. And why? To test His children, to cause them to act in His righteousness and thus to bring the glory to Himself. Just as my new banner attests, my attitude this week and in the coming weeks is turned toward God and His wonderful will in my life, in my community and in the world today. For this season I am promoting all that He has and is doing in our lives and demonstrating the truth of who He is. The study I am doing now is Believing God We must first of all :
Believe
  • He is who He says He is
  • He can do what He says He can do
  • I am who He says I am
  • I can do all things through Christ
  • His word is alive and active in me!

Oh, Father, help us to really know you and know that by your authority we have the power to effect real change in our homes, families, communities, and the world! Help us to pray with authority believing and we will give You all the glory! Amen!

I Just Have to Share This!

Photobucket
Last night at our Believing God Bible Study Beth Moore shared her all -important technique for living the victorious life in Christ. First, we are to believe the Word and then speak it audibly in power prayers! She demonstrated her own set of index cards on which she has written the appropriate scriptures that apply to her, then she prays the scriptures on the cards daily to :
  • strengthen her faith
  • defeat satan
  • prayer effectively
  • stand firm
  • have more wisdom
  • make wise choices

The list could go on and on actually, but I believe this is tantamount to overcoming in this trying world!

I found these great websites that offer scriptures under various headings.

Now this is just to get us started. But as we read the scriptures we must continue to add to our cards those scriptures that the Holy Spirit will prompt us to add!

I have copied off and am ready to cut and paste them onto my set of cards. I am really excited about this! I pray you will see the benefit of this, also. I just have a sense that christians are going to need to wise up and become the prayer warriors God is looking for in this generation!

Wednesday Morning Bible Study

Photobucket
Jan, of Jan and Tom's Place, has set aside Wednesday as Come to Jesus Day. I have Bible Study every Wednesday so am fed the Truth of Jesus each Wednesday anyway, but today I was literally fed as we celebrated the Feast of Weeks!
The Jewish feasts have a deep spiritual meaning to the Christian as well. In each one of these feasts, Christians can see one of the ministries of Jesus Christ in the earth. The feasts are a type or a symbol of the ministry of Jesus on earth. Christ’s ministry on earth while He was a man was a fulfillment of many Old Testament promises. On the feast of Pentecost (or Weeks – Shavout), Jesus Christ gave the promised Holy Spirit to His disciples who were waiting in an upper room in Jerusalem. With the outpouring of the Holy Spirit came the blessing of the “firstfruits” – a grain offering given 50 days after Passover. Pentecost was a fulfillment of the “former rain” (the Holy Spirit) which brought the first fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Pentecost (Shavuot) is a biblical memorial day given to the people of God as a special day for worship. From the New Testament perspective, it is (among other things) a day to celebrate that first "outpouring" of the Holy Spirit upon the church that John the Baptist had predicted (Matthew 3:11). This first happened within the Jewish community. Sometime later, a similar event occurred at the house of Cornelius, an Italian family, when the Gentiles experienced a phenomenal "outpouring" (acts 10:45). Today we have this continuing promise of God through the Apostle Peter, "For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call" (Acts 2:39). This means it is available to you also!
The word Pentecost is found only in the New Testament (Acts 2:1). It is identified in the Old Testament as the "Feast of Weeks" (exodus 34:22) and the "Feast of Harvest" (Exodus 23:!6). Pentecost, a Greek word meaning fiftieth, signifies that it occurred fifty days after the high priest offered to God the firstfruits of the barley harvest (Leviticus 23:10,11). Initially, this feast (as well as the other two great annual feasts, Passover and Tabernacles) was an agricultural festival.
Pentecost embodied many spiritual and prophetic demonstrations about the work and ministry of the coming Messiah. In fact, the entire life of our Lord was foreshadowed by a precisely timed series of events. The coming of the Holy Spirit is no exception. After the ascension of Jesus (Yahshua) to the right hand of God and His becoming our High Priest, the next great event was the baptism in the Holy Spirit(Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8). It is not surprising, therefore, that the writer of the book of Acts informs us that this event occurred "when the day of Pentecost had fully come...."
The complete saturation of believers with the Holy Spirit bestows many supernatural gifts and enablements for declaring the Good News with power and effectiveness (Acts 1:8). This is reasonable, for if the work of God could be accomplished through human abilities, the "enduement (or clothing upon) with power from on high" would be rendered unnecessary and meaningless.
Some of the spiritual abilities with which the church was endowed are these: word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, and speaking with tongues, both heavenly language and foreign languages of men (1 Corinthians 12; 1 Corinthians 13:1). You will discover that gifts to the ministry are included in this equipping. (Ephesians 4:8,11).
Simply stated, this Holy Spirit baptism was for the equipping of those who would be used of God with whatever they needed, on any occasion and under any circumstances, to be an adequate witness and to work the works of God (John 14:12).
Today, more than ever, we must have these spiritual talents working in us so that the gospel of the kingdom may be published into all the world for a witness before the end comes (Matthew 24:14). The fact that Pentecost is also identified as the Feast of Harvest gives us some spiritual insight concerning the harvest of souls that God desires to be reaped from the earth. The Bible teaches that Jesus was the Son of man who came to sow good seed--the word of God (Luke 8:5-11). The church is the reaper sent forth for harvesting (John 4:38; Matthew 9:38). Through Spirit-filled witnessing, the harvest of earth will be reaped. It is for this reason that Jesus made the declaration "Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you and ye shall be witnesses unto me...unto the uttermost part of the earth" (Acts 1:8). The people of God can never be effective and productive in this harvest without an abundant anointing or baptism of the Holy Spirit. Pentecost symbolizes ANOINTING FOR THE HARVEST. A yearly observance of this biblical memorial day by the church serves to remind us of our total dependence upon the Holy Spirit to give us the guidance and anointing we must have for this spiritual harvest of earth. The apostle Peter referred to it as a "time of refreshing."
Our Ageless Bible study has been studying the empowerment of the Holy Spirit without which we are unable to do our Kingdom work in sowing seed, spiritual healing, or pushing back the gates of hell. We celebrated the "First Fruit"(Our wonderful Holy Spirit) of the harvest today.PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Finding Peace

Suzanne of Blueberry Cottage asked the question,
"Where do you find peace?"
Photobucket
I find peace mainly in God's word. "For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster,
to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray,
I will listen. If you look for me in earnest, you will find me
when you seek me. I will be found by you," says the LORD. Jeremiah 29:11-14

When trouble comes knocking on my door, which is inevitable, I turn to the Word.
Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10

When I am confused, and the world seems to be closing in on me and I feel lost and uncertain, I read God's Word and it comforts me.Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

When I am consumed with need, whether for myself or for a loved one or friend, when I suffer or see a suffering brother or sister, When life's trials seek to cause me to falter, when temptation seeks to rule my heart, I cling to the Word of God.
I write this to you who believe in the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life. And we can be confident that he will listen to us
whenever we ask him for anything in line with his will.
And if we know he is listening when we make our requests,
we can be sure that he will give us what we ask for. 1 John 5:13-15
I find my peace in Jesus!
Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." John 14:27
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Colossians 3:15

Open My Eyes, LORD

Photobucket

Psalm 119:17-24

Deal bountifully with Your servant, That I may live and keep Your word. 18 Open my eyes, that I may behold Wonderful things from Your law. 19 I am a stranger in the earth; Do not hide Your commandments from me. 20 My soul is crushed with longing After Your ordinances at all times. 21 You rebuke the arrogant, the cursed, Who wander from Your commandments. 22 Take away reproach and contempt from me, For I observe Your testimonies. 23 Even though princes sit and talk against me, Your servant meditates on Your statutes. 24 Your testimonies also are my delight; They are my counselors.

There is so much more to the Christian life when you truly seek to "see' into the heavenly realm.... to "see" your own place in the Kingdom.... to truly desire to "see" others with the heart of God...to "see" your role as intercessor, servant, and daughter of the King. Fill me, Lord with Your wisdom to know when to act and how to pray. Fill me with the boldness to walk worthily through every day of life as your ambassador. Praise you, LORD, for the power of Your word and train me up from Glory to Glory.

Kingdom Authority

When God chose humanity and came to earth, His plan was not only to save us, but also to be our perfect role model in how to live for Him and through Him by the power of the Holy Spirit - yes, because of Jesus’ relationship with the Father through the Holy Spirit, He is our perfect role model for living with Kingdom authority. Because of His sinless life, there was no separation from the Father, and He lived in complete dependence in the Holy Spirit working through Him. We, because of Jesus’ death on the cross have His righteousness paid to our account; therefore, there is no separation between God and us, yet there remains the issue of our dependence. Are we totally dependent on the Holy Spirit allowing the power of the Holy Spirit to move through us? As His bride we should be.
When Adam and Eve were placed in the garden, they were given a mission- to be fruitful and multiply thus filling the earth and subduing it. God knew of course, that Satan and his minions had been cast out of heaven and taken dominion of the earth so the earth needed to be subdued, as it was under the influence of darkness. God could have destroyed Satan with a single word, yet He chose to defeat darkness through His delegated authority- those who were created in His image and were His lovers by choice- His bride! When God placed Adam in the garden it was the beginning of a great romance- the beginning of the romance of our creation- created in His image, for Intimacy that His dominion might be expressed through love!
It is from this revelation that we are to learn to walk as Christ’s ambassadors thus defeating the Prince of this world. God’s plan was that darkness would fall as man exercised his godly influence over creation, yet instead man fell. With Adam’s sin, mankind’s authority to rule was forfeited.
Immediately God put His predetermined plan of redemption to work. Jesus came to reclaim all that was lost! Luke 19:10 states, Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost. Jesus came to restore not only lost men, but man’s authority over the earth. Matthew 28:18 Jesus, with His last words on earth said, All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me- Therefore go and make disciples of all nations’, baptizing them in the name of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you, and surely I am with you to the very end of the age.
In other words, he was saying I got it all back! Now go, take it, use it and reclaim mankind!
Jesus told His followers I give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven- We then

are completely restored to God’s plan of ruling as people made in His image and we should be striving to enforce the victory obtained at Calvary!
We are called and it is our destiny to rule over creation- over darkness to establish the rule of Jesus on earth- preaching the gospel of the kingdom exposing and undoing the work of the enemy. Nothing is impossible for those who go forth into the world invested with Jesus power as witnesses of the kingdom. Luke 10:18 states Jesus said , I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and overcome all the power of the enemy.
With the Holy Spirit’s indwelling, His teaching, and with Jesus’ authority imparted to us, we are called to exercise that power on earth. This calls for a godly invasion against the powers of darkness as we release God’s power over creation. Just as Modecai told Esther, 'You were born for such a time as this!' This gospel was never meant to be just a doctrinal exercise, for theory alone does not exhibit the power of God. We mustn’t rob the gospel of its power!
God is not satisfied with the complacency of His bride in this generation. She has become self seeking- ingrown- like a great sponge, fully absorbed, or bloated on biblical teaching and truth, yet unwilling to put her feet into action for the Lord. She says things like, Wow, God is getting ready to move in our church, If we could only be ready, wow, I wonder what God has in store for us- Yes, God, the perfect gentleman that He is patiently waits for His bride to wake up to her calling!
