My Husband Rocks Friday

KatyLin, of The Great Adventure hosts this theme each Friday!

Well, it has been a while since I participated in this theme, not because Lynn doesn't rock every w eek... far from that!   But since it is Valentine's week  I wanted to do something a little special for him...
Photobucket

Lynn has always been just  the very best husband  and father...  He became a dad in 1985 and for the last 26 years he has demonstrated more love more caring and more wisdom with each passing day.  Whether he is leading our family in prayerful celebrations and devotions  around the table,   helping around the house, or on Amanda's biggest day of  all, her wedding day...  or  out on the town and in fun excursions with me... or just chillin' with me around the house...  he will evermore be my special and most loving Valentine!

Lynn is such a wonderful guy! It is my true delight to be able to put my trust and life in his hands.
His gentle loving care and humble forthright manner demonstrates the true integrity within him... he models godly wisdom. I am fortunate in the extreme and thank God for Lynn everyday!

My handy~dandy lawn man has really been having a hard time getting around to all his work lately with the intermittent rain we keep having. I love the rain, but since Lynn has two lawns to mow (my parents, as well) he has had a difficult time getting it all done. He keeps a great attitude about it though! Doesn't he do a great job! He rocks!

My Husband Rocks, Friday

I am just so proud of my husband, Lynn. He is such a wonderful partner. yesterday he took a day off work to attend me as we worked the day of rayer at church. He helped me as we opened the day at 6am as I was a little bit uneasy about being there so early by myself. As one of the coordinators, I made several trips back and forth filling in as needed, and Lynn supported me every step of the way, and then last night when I wanted to attend a rather charismatic fellowhip gathering of prayer and worship he was there right beside me, even though it had been a very long day. Not only did he support these efforts, but he also got our 3/4 acre lot mowed and he washed last night dishes as well. He rocks my world!!!!!
The picture above was taken as he participated in our family seder over passover!

My Husband Rocks, Friday

Oh, ho, I was reading Katy Lin's post this week, entitled My husband Puts Up with Me, and I just had to post how Lynn puts up with me. Yesterday, I was braising a lovely beef loin and it was going to take most of the day, so cooked it slowly for a couple of hours, then turned it way down around 9:15 as I knew I'd be gone until around 1. When I returned home I turned it up to about 4 to reestablsh the cooking until I had to leave for my doctor's appt at 3. But I was pulling into the doctor's office when I remembered I had not turned it down. Panic set in as I repeatedly called my mom and dad to ask dad to fly over and cut off the stove. But their phone wa continually busy. Finally, I called Lynn at work and had to confess what I'd done. He said, "I 'll run home and check on it."
Photobucket
I dreaded the aftermath of it when I got home. I must admit I was expecting to have a "sit down discussion" about it..... but, he just kissed me and thanked me for calling him so he could do something about it. So there he was ~had come home from work at 3:30 and had to go back to finish up more work. I felt terrible, but ecstatic too, he's such a great guy!!!! Visit Katy Lin for more MHRF!
P.S. The roast turned out great. I took it out and sliced some last night and drizzled BBQ sauce on it and zapped it under the broiler for a few minutes! Oooooo so tender and delish! Tonight I just sliced some off and warmed it in the microwave and heated up the roasted veggies with it! Yum! I love that. and I will have at least one more nice meal out of it. Wonderful cut of meat. Melts in the mouth and not one bit of waste!

As I scroll through the old photos I just love this one. Amanda sitting within the sheltering arms of her dad at a balloon show back in 1988. Isn't it great the relationship little girls have with their dads. He is the first most important man in their life. He sets the precedent and expectation women have in men as they choose their future mate. I love it when Amanda will call me in th middle of the day just to chat, but then other times she calls later in the evening, just to speak to her dad!
I am sure that with all her memories for the great times she has spent with her dad, she continues to desire his impact on her life even with a thousand miles of separation!

Lynn is so great! He is actually just as excited about his participation in our passover seder tonight as I am, and he has a ton to say and do following the 20 pages of notes from our haggadah. As the head of the family he will be doing most of the speaking coordinated with the many actions. He has taken his copy to work just about every day to read up on it during his lunchtime. This just thrills me to see the transformation in him... his desire to not his 'do I have to'.He has also taken quite a grest interest in the food making sure I prepare it just so. I absolutely love this unity of spirit we share! MHR!

I love my husband so much! I mean he is the sweetest! I have been under the weather all week with allergies aand sinus problems and havent felt like doing much of anything. He took me out for dinner Tuesday night as we went grocery shopping, and he brought dinner home Wednesday night from church when I just didnt feel like going. But yesterday he called me from work and said "You know what tonight is don't you? "
I said, "Thursday?" He said, "...and that means we ....."
I said, "......uh,......we watch our tape of "24"." (which we tape every week).
He said, "Yeah, and tonight, I feel like Chinese. Do you want your usual?"
AW!!!! Now, ain't he sweet!

My Husband Rocks, Friday

I would be amiss if I didnt pay tribute to Lynn today as we look forward to our 37th anniversary next week.
Photobucket
Or course, we've been going around together for 42 years. we started dating our senior year of high school He was in my economics class and the teacher put us in alphabetical order and we ended up sitting beside each other. I asked him if I could borrow his pen and I've asking him ever since. Our first date was to the bonfire pep rally on a Thursday night before homecoming. It wasn't really a a date, but he asked me if i was going and I said, "Sure." ( I had no idea how I was going to get there, though.) Most of my friends had real dates to it. I finally found a friend who didn't and I told her I really didnt want to go by myself but had hopes of meeting someone there. She agreed to be my sidekick, and the rest is history. Gee, I hope she made it home that night. I really have no recollection of what happened to her after that! Yikes!

My Husband Rocks

Photobucket
I have to say that my dear husband in the light khaki shorts looks pretty good here at last summer's Sunday School picnic. Lookin' good at 59, I'd say!
This week Katy asks us to share what we like to do for fun. We definitely enjoy our time together. I am always trying to get him to come home early especially on Fridays to extend our weekend time together. We enjoy planning our life, what we wish to do and how regarding home management, budgeting, what we need to do around the house, etc. We are now in the habit of taping each episode of 24 which is the only nightly show we watch, but Monday is not a good viewing night so we look forward to our tv night together, ususally on a Thursday. And would you believe it? Lynn has really gotten into What Not to Wear with me- we sometimes watch it as we eat dinner. He is mesmerized by the transformations.

You have to really love a man with a Bible under his arm and devotion in his heart for the Lord and his family!
Photobucket
We were on our way out the door Wednesday night for Fellowship dinner and Pastor's Study/prayer meeting! It is truly wonderful when the husband takes the spiritual leadership roll in the household.
I ran across this website about leading the spiritual life in the home.
It very simply and succinctly lays out the importance and the steps in growing in spiritual leadership.

Katy Lin of the Great Adventure hosts this each week.
It is always such a delight to honor my husband each week. He really is such a great guy! It thrills my heart to see how much he is growing in the admonition of the Lord. He spends quality time every night reading his Bible and studying his Bible study and Sunday school lessons. He is very excited about our new Wednesday evening Bible study that is starting up in February- Here is a blurb about the class
"Christian World View- How do you interpret the world around you? What are your political views? Where did we come from? How do we make sense of the existence of evil? Is there such a thing as absolute truth? Is there only one right answer to these questions? The way you answer these questions will be based on your “World-view” . Come and learn what your world view is, how your world view has been shaped by the culture and the superiority of the Christian world view. This class will require some thinking and engagement". He is really getting excited about the "engaging" discussion. let me tell you, this will be right up his alley! It is wonderful to see him get excited about spiritual matters, because it does matter!!

My Husband Rocks, Friday

Photobucket

Katy Lin, of The Great Adventure, started this wonderful way to honor our husbands each week. She has a huge list of participant at her site!
This fall Lynn has had a ton of trouble with his back. I believe it all stems from tht fateful day in August when he planted 5 trees in one day! I can still recall how he had to work the ground with an pry bar to break up the hard clay soil and shale. How he had to pry the old roots loose to clear a hole large enough to accommodate the roots balls. It was grueling work! But even though his back pains him everyday, he still gets out there and works like a trojan keeping the yardwork at bay!
Photobucket He had all the leaves up on Saturday, and by Sunday the ground was covered again! That's November for you!

Two for One, Friday

Katy Lin,of The Great Adventure, hosts this theme every Friday. She has a listing of others who are praising their hubby today.Isn't it great to have computer savvy husbands. I love my computer and it is great to be able to carry it around the places we travel. But if it always depended on me to set it up with all the varying hookup setups, I'd still be sitting here trying to figure what is what!Photobucket
Lynn just zips and zaps and it's done!
Another thing, I drive over to the traffic control center to pick him up for lunch each day since we've been here and we go out to grab a quick bite. We've done the new Chinese restaurant and Cracker Barrel, but yesterday he actually said, "let's check out the new Panera"- one of my favorite places. This is quite a concession for him. It's just not a man kind of place in his estimation!
Photobucket I mean what's not to LOVE about Panera!
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket Anyway, I thought that was really sweet!

Photobucket
Deborah, of Pictures, Pots, Pens, hosts this fun meme on Fridays and so this was my latest photo of Lynn. I caught him coming back to the hotel from the nearby Cracker Barrel this morning.
Photobucket
Wouldn't you know this, our last day in Richmond, is dawning clear as a bell, promising to be a glorious day!!
Photobucket Last night we enjoyed our Cracker Barrel dinner. Photobucket It is really great sharing a parking lot with such a favored place to dine! The trees around here have been so beautiful. There is nothing finer than an autumn crepe myrtle!PhotobucketPhotobucket Even the ground looks like a spilled pot of gold!Photobucket But, alas, in the days we've been here the trees have just about last all their leaves!Photobucket

My Husband Rocks, Friday

Kay Lin hosts this theme each week and it is a pleasure to post about my life partner! He makes everything we do so much more fun. For example, he has established a really fun tradition. On mornings that I am called to go substitute, he arranges his schedule so we can start our day together by going out to breakfast at one of our favorite haunts, Famous A's!
Photobucket
Photobucket
That just gets the day off to a great start for me because it is difficult to get back into a teaching routine and gives us both something to look forward to, instead of dread! I love him for that..... ain't he sweet?
