The Simple Woman Daybook

For Today~ October 2, 2017

Looking out my window...
a brisk, sunny  October morning.. loving it!!!!

I am thinking...
about how horrible the news is this morning.. news out of Las Vegas and  over 50 dead  and hundreds injured...  May our prayers go out to the victims families!!

I am thankful..
for too many things to count,  but mainly that  we have a God who  is in control, and even  when bad things happen in this evil world, He is with us through it all! We must pray continually for His watch care over us and our family!

I am watching.....
I have sort of gotten hooked on  some British detective series on Netflix...I am missing Foyle's War..  it was  perfection...too many of them are  rather grim and not  to my liking...  but we did enjoy  Shetland....  loved  DI Perez!

I am  reading...

I Peter,  Thinking Differently by James MacDonald,
Proverbs
The God Calls My Name by Max Lucado

I am listening to...
the news account  on  talk radio

I am hoping...
to be able to pick up my order today.... All three of our K Marts have  closed... and I really like  Jaclyn Smith's line of clothing...  so I found you can order them online and  pick up at Sears.  They are nice quality and  really  good prices... I ordered 4 tops...  including this one
Jaclyn Smith Jaclyn Smith Women's Wrap-Front Shirt

I am learning...
to float above  so much of the "stuff"  that  we  hear about in the media..  God is  leading me through my life without  the focus on    the all  the  strife  in media....   turning off the radio and  clicking off of   those sites  on facebook help  so much!!!

In the kitchen...
Slow cooker pot roast

In my garden~
The remaining colors of summer are beginning to fade..

as
today  we are working in the garden to plant some  items  we have been holding back until  fall to plant...  basically, I bought a couple of  lovely  peonies  when they were  for sale back in May...

Hubs refuses to plant shrubs before autumn...  so  I look forward to  getting my peonies in the ground today  so next year they will look like this!!!

Currently, my mums are  bursting into color and  the autumn colors are  peeking...  looking forward to  when they  are peaking!!!

 Board Room

This is my favorite painting of the year. It combines a Westie with a classy tux and champagne with an edgy background for a great overall effect. My little daughter Daisy #westie

Westie! <3ridiculous, but I couldn't help post it. It's a Westie as Mr. Darcy. I love them both, but together?
But, alas, HUbs  despises  dogs.. so I dream on!!!

A moment in my day:
I am so blessed.  last night I was  experiencing some unknown  pain in my  right   quadrant....     and had a  bad night...  Hubs  has been  so dear this morning...  making  coffee and  breakfast...  just really  being sweetly attentive!!!  I praise God for  him everyday!!!

Have you started pressing in for more of God in your life!!!

The Simple Woman Day Book

For Today~ July 3, 2017

Looking out my window...
a bright and sunny day.... watching those temps today! Whew!!

I am thinking...
of so many wonderful July the Fourths of my life...amusement park fun, family picnics, going to the city Fourth Celebrations to sit out in the stadium listening to the Symphony playing the wonderful patriotic songs.. always ending with the William Tell Overture right before the fireworks..

I am thankful..

How blessed we are to live in this country... we get to enjoy our rights endowed by our Creator... through a government established by men of God who were inspired to protect our rights through the Constitution by which our law is laid before us... We obtain our freedom from the truth of our Creator, our King. the king of Heaven but soon to be the King of the World...for it is God's truth that sets us free! And it is by the sacrifice of many through the centuries who have fought and died to secure that freedom for America... yesterday we sang this song to honor our Lord and King whom we worship.

I am watching.....

I just finished watching that synchronized firework display and have now determined that I will go to see the fireworks tomorrow night I do love them so much!!!

I am reading...

My latest edition of the Intercessors for America newsletter article entitled, The Founding fathers on Prayer,"According to President Washington, "It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and to humbly implore His protection and favor." I truly believe that God's favor has been on America as much as it has because of the prayers of the many who sought after it. And God will remove His hand of protection when the leaders choose to erase God from their society.. I praise God he has allowed a President who again upholds godly principles to be our leader... it is a blessing no matter what the media and those who hate God say.

I am listening to...

patriotic music on the radio

I am hoping...

to hear from our daughter and her family sometime over the Fourth.

I am learning...

to just go with the flow especially when Id rather pull then covers up over my head!

In the kitchen...

I had to be a bit more creative in my cooking. Last night I had a thawed bag of uncooked shrimp in their shells Hubs had taken out of the freezer. and I wasn't really prepared to deal with them... but just pretending I was Ina Garten I did what I thought she'd do.. I sauteed some minced garlic in butter, added a bit of white wine. seasoned it with my house rub seasoning, and sauteed them in a that butter sauce for 5 minutes. Served over noodles they were really great!!!!!

In my garden~

Photos taken this morning on my morning stroll around the yard

Board Room

My board on Just Yummy Food... some delightful ideas for the holiday~

Going to try this one for sure!!!

A moment in my day:
How about 2 days..

Yesterday Hubs and I sang in the Fourth Celebration at church..

Here we were singing the Salute to the Armed Forces~

this morning we had a celebratory breakfast on the porch!!

I love confetti baked eggs with sauteed red peppers, Parmesan, and chopped basil.

The Simple Woman Day Book

For Today~ June 26, 2017

Looking out my window...

A bright and clear day has dawned and gloriously the humidity has broken.... It should be a wonderful day!

I am thinking...

about how marvelous it is to be alive and know that there is a purpose for my life under heaven... might that I live and walk in that purpose day by day!

I am thankful..

that even when I feel that many have forsaken me, that the Lover of Soul is closer still and loving me with an ever lasting love!

I am watching.....

I am so glad my new version of Beauty and the Beast finally arrived... I can fast forward just to the parts I love best and watch it in about 35 minutes... I love the story and the beauty of it.... and the songs I know by heart..

I am reading...

Francis Chan's book, Forgotten God.
A review from Amazon:

A follow up to the profound message of Crazy Love, Pastor Francis Chan offers a compelling invitation to understand, embrace, and follow the Holy Spirit’s direction in our lives. In the name of the Father, the Son, and … the Holy Spirit. We pray in the name of all three, but how often do we live with an awareness of only the first two? As Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised to send the Holy Spirit—the Helper—so that we could be true and living witnesses for Christ. Unfortunately, today’s church has admired the gift but neglected to open it.Breakthrough author Francis Chan rips away paper and bows to get at the true source of the church’s power—the Holy Spirit. Chan contends that we’ve ignored the Spirit for far too long, and we are reaping the disastrous results. Thorough scriptural support and compelling narrative form Chan’s invitation to stop and remember the One we’ve forgotten, the Spirit of the living God.

I am listening to...

Oliver B. Green who is teaching on Revelation. Sometimes I really love his old time style of teaching.. He really preaches it uncompromisingly!

I am hoping...

tomorrow night our prayer team has planned a glorious time of praise and worship with some devotional speaking between the three sections of emphasis.... praise.... how then should we live.... anticipate with longing the Coming of the Lord.... so I am hoping there will be a great turn out from many different churches and there will be birthed a spirit of deeper love for God and a desire to live daily with praise and worship in spirit and truth.

I am learning...

to live with disappointment...God seems to be taking me through a season of unmet expectations tot each me that He is all I need!

In the kitchen...

I am hungry for breakfast ...I have some sausage that goes out tomorrow.. just a small bit, I plan to make some sausage gravy and some drop biscuits just as soon as I finish this post! YUM!!

In my garden~

My summer garden is blooming out in glory this week!

Board Room

This summer for my birthday Hubs is fulfilling an item on my bucket list... I have always wanted to stay at the Martha Washington Inn and go see a play at the Barter Theater. This board is all about it. One reason is my great grandmother went to Normal School which was the teacher's college at that time in the building that is now the Inn... My grandmother used to love come there with us for luncheon, but we never stayed the night.... Finally, my dream will come true! A comedy, entitled, The Cottage will be playing at the Theater..
Many well-known stars of stage, screen and television have performed early in their careers at Barter, including Gregory Peck, Ernest Borgnine, Patricia Neal,Ned Beatty, Hume Cronyn, Gary Collins, Frances Fisher, Kevin Spacey, Larry Linville,John Glover, Jim Varney, and Wayne Knight

The Simple Woman Day Book

For Today~ June 5, 2017

Looking out my window...
rain...rain...rain!

I am thinking...
how blessed I am  by  my dear husband   who just handed me my fruited yogurt and  morning coffee!!!

I am thankful..
That even though my recovery last week form sinus surgery resulted in  a sinus infection,,   that  laid me low  mid week,  God provided me the strength and endurance to be able to go on  a    bus trip   with our  church to  Noah's Ark and  the Creation Museum...  It was  completely   awesome...

I am wearing...white tee and  blue gingham Capri's

I am watching.....
HGTV and  Food Network...  plus  Netflix...   I don't enjoy much on network tv.

I am  reading...
Jan Karon's  Somewhere safe with Somebody Good!
Judges 16-18

I am listening to...
the  pitter patter of the rain!!!

I am hoping...
hubs and I can get back into   the    floor work upstairs this week...  We still have two bedrooms to  move furniture,  and  tear out the  glued down carpet...   (installed  before we moved here) but  praise  the Lord  once we get the mastick off the floor  which  Hubs does with a  scraper and a heat gun,  the floors  are in good shape..  a  good cleaning and  waxing is all they  need..  then we  can put down our  gorgeous new  rugs  and  the  master will be  complete!!!

I am learning...
how to live with disappointment.   But it must be learned with  a huge  dose of grace and  forbearance.

In the kitchen...
the cupboards are bare and I have no  plans!   Today  I  go  for my post op  then  marketing..   hope something  materializes thereafter!

In my garden~
I have some  lavender  plants I purchased  last month and have been keeping  well watered...  I need to plant them  in planters for the front porch....lavender keeps mosquitoes away!!
