Sunday- Abiding Worship

Scripture gives us several verses on how to abide in Him!

Rev. 2:17Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna....

Christians  partake of a hidden enjoyment of Christ as our food? By spending personal, intimate, private time with Him every day. Our enjoyment of God must be more than in the meetings of the church. It is the private prayer and fellowship with God that cements the word we have heard into an eternal memorial within our being..

John 8:31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.

We should read His Word daily...The more we come to His word, the more the Word will become His instant speaking to us day by day, guiding us to live in Him.

I Thessolonians 16-18 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Notice that the Word goes so far as to say "rejoice always,"  "pray continually," and  "give thanks in all circumstances."  This  really emphasizes  their importance in Kingdom life!    I  begin to realize that I have  not taken the scriptures as seriously as I should and I can understand why life on earth isn't going as well as it could if  only  God's children followed His commands!

Speak, O Lord, as we come to You
To receive the food of Your Holy Word.
Take Your truth, plant it deep in us;
Shape and fashion us in Your likeness,
That the light of Christ might be seen today
In our acts of love and our deeds of faith.
Speak, O Lord, and fulfill in us
All Your purposes for Your glory.

Teach us, Lord, full obedience,
Holy reverence, true humility;
Test our thoughts and our attitudes
In the radiance of Your purity.
Cause our faith to rise; cause our eyes to see
Your majestic love and authority.
Words of pow'r that can never fail—
Let their truth prevail over unbelief.

Speak, O Lord, and renew our minds;
Help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us—
Truths unchanged from the dawn of time
That will echo down through eternity.
And by grace we'll stand on Your promises,
And by faith we'll walk as You walk with us.
Speak, O Lord, till Your church is built
And the earth is filled with Your glory

Abiding Worship

So  to  be a true child of  the Father we are to Abide in Him.  Eph. 6:18Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

That is a pretty strong word..  at all times.. in every circumstance..  in  good times and bad.

On Friday we thought about  ways to pray to the Father and the Son , according to  their names!

 Today we are considering

 The Holy Spirit

 .. the above verse says pray in the spirit..   One source explains it this way.. and I believe it is a great  explanation!

 "The Greek word translated “pray in” can have several different meanings. It can mean “by means of,” “with the help of,” “in the sphere of,” and “in connection to.” Praying in the Spirit does not refer to the words we are saying. Rather, it refers to how we are praying. Praying in the Spirit is praying according to the Spirit’s leading. It is praying for things the Spirit leads us to pray for. Romans 8:26 tells us, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.”

 I will add  here  that  we can  address the Holy Spirit at times  as he offers  certain gifts  that we need through the course of the day!!

Found in Galatians 5

Love         peace         forbearance        kindness        goodness

 Joy          faithfulness           gentleness           self-control

When you are feeling out of sorts in these areas   and it does happen... cry out to the Holy Spirit to help you  to  give you peace,    or joy,    etc.. and He is faithful!!!  He will remind you that  Jesus is the Prince of Peace.

 Names matter  again,    they describe   character or role!...  and  Jesus   is known by many.  You can find a list of 50 of His names here.

God bless you mightily!

I watched this Thursday evening and it really hit the mark! I really like Allan Jackson Ministry

Very, very recommended!
