Simple Pleasures

Project Simple Pleasures2

I retired from teaching eight years  ago,,, man taht makes me  feel like Im older than dirt,   but at 61 , I am told  time and again,  it's only a number ! HEHEHEHE.  Anyway,  old or not,  I have  longed for the day that my  dear husband would join me in  retirement and finally, he  has,,  only to find me laid up  and infirm  this  first month....  but praise God for His perfect timing  that I  had Lynn here with me to  take  care of me....  but then yesterday,  such a lovely  autumn day... I felt good enough to do something  I had long  wished for...   to take our  breakfast on the veranda  on a weekday...lovely

Simple Pleasures

Project Simple Pleasures2

Some of the things  that have been  really  stacking up around my studio   are  my favorite  magazines...I  can hardly  resist  a TeaTime or  Southern Lady, or  anything that is British.. Those  luscious covers  grab me and just wont let me go!  But  they are  stacked up all around me... several years worth which is  really  just  crazy in this economy.  SO I wised up  this week and  organized  them   and have put the  Tea Time and Southern Lady  grouped by season  on the  recipe bookcase and the  British ones  on the  regular  bookcase in the library and  now  seasonally I can go  take them out and  set them around  in cozy spots  or take them out with my morning tea or coffee to the porch for a leisurely    stroll through their  tantalizing pages....   and  my husband is thrilled   that I  realize I just dont  need to purchase anymore  with  so many  out and about already....this simple pleasure keeps us both  happy!

Simple Pleasure

Project Simple Pleasures2

Visit this  lovely blog, A Collection of This and That by Dayle who  hosts this great theme each week.

I really enjoy looking for the simple pleasures each day brings me
this week  on Wednesday  I had the great pleasure of hosting my mom's 88th birthday.  Our Bible Study group shared in this auspicious day and my mom was totally delighted..
PhotobucketOur group  spends a goodly portion of our study time in praise and prayer... which set the perfect attitude for our celebration .  MOm  was so happy to be a part of the group for this day,,, something she hadn't been able to do for some time...
I enjoyed getting our repast for our fellowship time set out  ...
Photobucket
and making sure the sunroom was ready to receive us as we shared about our study,  our lives, and our friendship..
Photobucket
it was truly a sublime day... I only wish you could  see the view out these windows ... how God's creation inspired us and  completed the day with joy!  But to be fair this day took a lot of work so I cant say it was all that simple...BUT...
On Thursday, my husband came home fro lunch and we were able to enjoy the spoils of the day before....now this was truly a pleasure....  dining in a clean room,,

 on  delectable leftovers,

Simple Pleasures

Project Simple Pleasures2

The  lovely blog, A Collection of This and That by Dayle who  hosts this great theme each week.  What could be more simple than to just to sit back and enjoy the beauty of God's wondrous spring!Photobucket
From early in the morning..
as the birds call us to arise and   capture the essence of God's creation...  through the day...
Photobucket

As His Godlight brings the color into focus and it enlivens the whole arena...especially on a clear day when the colors  punctuate the azure sky...
Photobucket

til the day's end  when the setting sun casts its rosy hue upon the whole scene...
Photobucket
How could anything so sublime be such a simple pleasure... but more importantly... what am I doing inside?

Simple Pleasures

Project Simple Pleasures2

The  lovely blog, A Collection of This and That by Dayle,    hosts this great theme each week.  Simplicity is my goal now that I am retired and attempted to scale back....to contemplate those  simple things that fulfill and bring pleasure...  a couple of weeks ago  it was breakfast for two... and in this instance it was breakfast for my Son-in law, Joshua, who lives in Boston.  His bride, our daughter was attending a bridal brunch that morning so I had Joshua all to myself.

A rarety to say the least,  for family dinner conversation usually runs along the lines of work, sports, and other innocuous topics...  but this morning,  Joshua and I  enjoyed a lovely chat along more personal lines and the pace was lingering and the the mood was light.  A real simple pleasure!

Simple Pleasures

Project Simple Pleasures2

I just discovered this lovely blog, A Collection of This and That by Dayle,   who hosts this great theme each week.  This idea resounded with me because an emphasis in our church right now is the challenge to slow down and breathe.. to live in the moment  and cherish the blessings, great and small that come our way...  One of the simple pleasures in my life is the time I do spend online...  blogging, visiting new places and being inspired and challenged to live better  but also it is the engaging chats I enjoy so much not only with my blogging friends but also the many wonderful friends I have on Face Book who bless me in untold ways....  simply a joyous celebration  of the One Another  theme of scriptures...
