Friday Fave Five

Hosted by Susanne

Welcome to another Friday and another opportunity take note of the blessings that God has sent us over the past week.

💚💚I  began the week  with a self realization that  alas, the rough places on my nose were yet again another  skin cancer  not un- like the ones  that required  corrective surgery at UVA . So I called  my wonderful dermatologist in Charlottesville and got an appt for this coming week.  He will then do a biopsy and then depending on the report set me up   for  an appt to  give me MOHS surgery then send me to UVA for  plastic surgery.  I Praise God that He is with me. Early in the week,  at the thought of this I cried  But  His Spirit has comforted me and I am  feeling  a  calm and a bravery to face it knowing I am not alone!  Ive been here twice before!

💚💚  I am so thankful that Lynn has persevered  through preparing the kitchen for painting.  It has taken time,  but  goodness, he has so much on him!
So the caulking and   taping up around  the many areas that  needed taping.  There is a bit of millwork around this small kitchen!
Hopefully  he will actually open the paint can today and  begin.  I am thinking  this room will need two coats as seen  below,  You will know why!

We are painting all the red  with bleached linen...   so    the green tape should make   painting a bit easier and faster, as well!!  but  don't you think 2 coats, as well?

💚💚I started my  gyne-uro  therapy today.  Much of the exercises  are  similar to  what I am doing    in my physical therapy  to strengthen my  back,  pelvic floor,  hips and  legs.  Old age  is not fun...  and after all the  issues that have  stricken my poor body   over the pandemic,  I am  very much out of shape and in a weakened  state. I  have wonderful  professionals  working with me and I am truly blessed!!

💚💚I am so thrilled that   we are making friends very quickly at our new church. In these trying times it means so much to have  good Christian friends to  share with and  lift one another up  especially in prayer!  I joined the prayer team and  it is a very vibrant group and people really depend on  the  goodness of God through prayer which I think is marvelous!  Other churches we  have been part of  didn't give prayer much thought!!!

💚💚Lynn is reaching out  right now  with  a donation to   aid  the people of Ukraine.    I am sure no one ever thought we would  be facing such  a thing  just two weeks ago. and for the poor  Ukrainians,  our hearts   go out to them.  I hope many many Americans  are  doing all they can to send help  for these people.  I mean 2.3 million refugees  have fled the country in a two week time frame.   And how horrible to have to leave their men folk behind.  Please pray for the people and  for  leadership of all  nations to  find ways to  give hope and help  to this situation.  I know one way I have prayed the US would undertake but unfortunately it has not been  addressed.  it is a pet political   thing.  Oh, I pray  common sense and  and  concern for  all will reign in the hearts of minds of  all of ur leaders!

Friday Fave 5

HOSTED BY SUSANNE!

It is always  good to  count  our blessings...   so here we go!

We are so looking forward to our daughter and her family coming to visit in a couple of weeks. We will be celebrating birthdays, mine, Amanda's and our oldest granddaughter, Birdie!! We have been busy ordering gifts and I have several to wrap this week. I was into finding back to school clothes, and a few I am so glad I wavered on ordering the craft kits... because I found the perfect bracelet kits at Hobby Lobby this week!

Here they are at home playing with their dolls..    They so seldom play dolls I  was thrilled to  get this photo from Amanda!  I hope they will play dolls while here!  I have  Amanda's old dolls  in  great shape ready to go..

I am getting my art supplies ready and planning some art activities.. Our girls love to draw and paint. They have gotten into gardening this summer and love to paint veggies and flowers. So Im hoping we can offer some new specimens with which to work!

One of the best blessings for me prior to their visit is the time I've spent getting our home ready for their visit.. Last year when Amanda was here she helped us purge a lot from our basement. We still have a way to go, but it started us on our purging adventure! I have purged our books, dvds, cd,s, the linen closet, my clothing. and cleaned out my closet, which is in the guest room, btw! Yesterday, I purged my bedside tables and drawers.. This weekend I will be working in the other bedroom, actually where the girls will sleep..  I purchased a few new things for the room  at Hobby Lobby. I will  post photos soon!

While I was purging I have run across several works of art that over time have been stored away due to new artwork being purchased.. Our home has pretty limited walls pace, except in the den, there is a longer wall without much on it. Now that gallery walls are so popular, I have decided to try to reorder the art on the wall already and decide how to incorporate the stored art with it. I think it will look awesome!!!

I have so many ideas for the dining room floating in my mind. It is time to change it up the dining room,, using different china ware and colors.. Thinking of the birthdays up-coming I want something happy and exciting. I will try to get this done today and photos up on this page before too long!!

HERE IT IS!!

555

Hosted by Susanne!

This week things have calmed down and I am feeling much better about church life.  Yes, our  beloved pastor   is still leaving in two weeks  and we will be going through the long process of  pastor  search, but I have overcome  the other  problems that were plaguing me  about  some of the  ministry issues  I won't go into.  I believe that now that covid  is  sort of behind us and people are coming back to church  things are really looking up!  I pray Lord   the usual  thing of people leaving the church  when I pastor leaves will not effect our body!  I really think I had  been walking by sight there for a while. Now I choose this!

So last week we were working diligently to purge items from our basement storage room.  This week I have been working on the book case in the den.  We have so many books from the 50 years of our marriage and I  have always had a hard time getting rid of  those Ive read or  even the ones I have received as gifts that I know I'll never read.  As long as there was room on the book case I'd just  put it in line with the rest!  Well, who knows   the future  .. Suddenly we may  need to make a home change,  and  then    what an ordeal to  attend to.  So  after a long day of it yesterday I have 5 boxes to  donate. And I've freed up several  shelves..  but I have about  4 other bookcases around the house.  I found a box load of antique books  I am hoping to take to an antique book  store and perhaps get a bit of  money for.  Several of the books a re quite nice...  not  a fortune's worth,  but I just hate to see them end up  in the trash bin at the salvation army.

I even    tossed  all of my high school and college  year books.. But not before we went back and reread all the  fabulous sentiments!

I have also purged  my cd's  which has  opened up both space on the book shelves, and  the drawer in the  tv center. I have finally come to the place where I am loosing my grip on  my life's  collections.  I now have 6  large bags of  books  ready to donate..   I dread the day I must  loose  my  grasp on my  dish collection.  So far  I  am able to retain those. I so wish my daughter loved them  like I do.  She probably would if she    were a bit more mature in her home  situation.   She just now is  denying   furniture from  Ikea!  Maybe one day she will appreciate  good  solid wood   traditional  furniture...  One can hope!

Next Sunday will be our pastor's last Sunday and we are planning a lovely  reception for him.  We having finger  foods  catered and I am doing two   fresh flower arrangements for the food tables.  My blue hydrangeas are blooming.  I hope  this continuing rain doesn't beat them down too much.. I also plan to get some roses from Fresh Market and  a couple of batches of fresh flowers from Krogers.  I think it will be lovely. This week  while shopping at  the consignment shop I  was so fortunate to find two  glass vases almost exactly alike for just $1.50 apiece. Thank you, Lord.

I  look forward  to  getting my flowers at the market this next week!

I am so happy,  Lynn     became enthused  over  some new dress shirts  we found on line  from Paul Frederick..  these shirts  usually  run for $ 95.00, because they are so exquisitely  made. But last week they were on sale for   $59.00  so I ordered 5 of them for  Father's Day. He needed  to replace  several shirts.. He was like a boy in a candy store when he opened  them this week.  Now to decide which one to wear on Father's Day!
