Friday Fave Five

Hosted by Susanne!

I am pretty excited to finally be in December!!! I am now counting the days until we leave to celebrate with our kids!!! Although we are still waiting on  some  online gifts to arrive  and  actually now I need to   order  another one. We still need to get something for our youngest's birthday which is two days after Christmas!   Whew!
But this has been a great week! It didn't start out  that great though... I  woke up Sunday feeling pretty  awful. .. my allergies were  rampant and I had a horrible headache, so we missed church.. Of course, these days  you can  watch online which is  great!. Monday was better and we  got  some things done around the house.  I worked on and got about half the Christmas cards ready to mail  and started  reading the girls’ books so I  can create   detective clues to attach  to the books for the girls to find the answers as they read.  I think they are going to really enjoy this.. They  love reading so much and this just adds  a bit more  mystery to  the  story.  Most all the books are mystery type stories, so I look forward to  getting this project all finished .

Tuesday my  best friend and I met  at Olive Garden along with two women  from our church who are  among our 6 Sisters.. a group  the women ministry  initiates every 6 months  to put  6 women together  to get to know each other better.  We  thoroughly  enjoyed our  time together. This week  the other two were old-time members  who  shared about the history of the church.. the time got away from us  and  before we knew it, it was almost 3 pm., but we had a wonderful time!

Wednesday was our day out and about. I had a bit of  lab work to be done (turned just fine by the way)and  my allergy shot , then we   took my  pitiful Ipad  to a local  repair shop for Apple products and they successfully  replaced the battery that truly was on its last legs. I am so excited because it is like having a brand new one now. I am also excited it isn't  a new foreign entity to me, but a dear old friend.  You know how it is to get new technology and it takes a long time to  get it  set up  and familiar. But now I can put that off for,  I hope, a couple of more years.   And now hubby can replace his desk computer which is only 11 years old!  Merry Christmas, Lynn!Just to see his excitement makes me feel wonderful!!

Today  we are planning a bit of a shopping trek   this afternoon.  I  will be writing those  book clues on a large mailing tags (hopefully) a white one with the red and white string. I want to put a dog detective photo on it and then write out 5  clue questions  on each tag for each of the 8 books  I have purchased for them.(4 each). I was dreading reading every book to garner the clues.,  but last night  I looked up on line and found  sites that wrote just enough  info about the books  (like Good Reads,  and  synopsis on wikipedia,)  so  I don't have to read them all.  Whew!  Thank you, Lord!!
Then Lynn said he'd take us out  for Chinese tonight! Yay!

Saturday is our Women's Christmas Brunch at church. I signed up to bake a sausage veg , egg, and cheese casserole. So I plan to do the  frying of the  sausage, and veg    in the evening so I can just  put it  all together and bake it in the morning before I leave. I look forward to  this because now that we've been there for just about 1 year, I finally feel like I know enough  people to feel like one of them. And church  socials are so important. So I'd say this was a great week..  Next week will be up and down,.,,so hopefully  the up will  cancel out the downs, but  that is  left for us to see!   God bless!!!
PS..  today, Friday,  we  got go to the theater to see I Heard the Bells.. this is a sight and sound film production and it is  wonderful!    playing locally only a couple of days.. check your listings.  It is so very  good!!  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt21084334/

Friday Fave Fives

Hosted by Susanne.

I don’t know about you, but for me, this week has flown by.  Each day
has just  tumbled into the next and I actually got so mixed up yesterday I was even confused enough to call my best friend ‘s husband to inquire about how her surgery went.  How embarrassed was I when he assured me that the surgery was tomorrow!  Or today actually!  Well in my lame defense, the surgery had been changed from Thursday toFriday, but I actually was thinking yesterday was Friday!  Oh, Swell, now I not only have enough brain fog from my booster shot to not only say the  wrong word  in conversation ,but also get my days mixed up!
  • Alas, I am here to share my blessings, and there are  many!  For one,  because  of my previous  error,  I now have an extra day to decide  what food to fix to take to  Gerri  and Dave!  She actually  wanted me to wait til tomorrow and my choices  are  baked spaghetti, or  Chinese  chicken stir fry.  I  think she really  prefers  the Chinese so  I do have all the ingredients..   and it is one of my  best dishes to  make.. so  stir fry it will be! I just  truly so thankful We have such wonderful friends in Gerri and Dave  and am  blessed to be able to  do this small thing to make their day easier and tasty, too!!
  •   I am sort of surprised in the change I made in my blog  this  last week.. I  made a decision  to make some changes in the blog, and as I  started in to recreate it,  I suddenly found that I had  removed  most everything to make way for the new. I am afraid I was  galvanized by  a couple of other blogs whose  work is so inspiring  but  they are using  a format other than blogger and I am afraid that what I might wish to do here is  impossible.  I am such  a old dog  it is  very difficult to teach  me new tricks .. I actually have a word press blog  that I never  use because it is  not user friendly  for me!  But I  wish to be much more intentional about what I do and how I  add new material.. so   I pray all will bear with me in the interim.. What is the blessing?  The inspiration that I have gleaned this week is growing me in my  inner soul,  and I  want to  be able to share   how the Lord is working within me.  I do not wish to be  bogged down making blogger   work  so I may be  trying to get  word press  up and going again...   so I may not be  into the things  I heretofore have been doing.    I don't know,  it is a season of flux for me..   but in the end I know I will  spring anew and I hope to  be able to  be a blessing here in blogland.
  • Plans are  well into the making for  our  Christmas   visit  with the kids, but since we do not travel from here to Boston in 1 day we have to choose a stop along the way about half way which puts us in Pa.  My goodness we have tried B&B’s and hotels  all up and down the 81 corridor!  This year we will be making reservations  hopefully today  to  stay  in Hershey  as our  layover.   We love this  gorgeous  B&B..The Inn at Westwynd Farm!
    Fabulous breakfasts in a

                                                              Magnificent setting!
  • I am pretty excited, even as we were planning our Christmas trip, our discussion deviated to  how we and our kids accommodate over night guests. The kids have an issue at this time with a home remodel that necessarily prohibits the use of their regular guest quarters so we are deep in helping to plan  our sleeping arrangement… .  This discussion spilled over into our accommodations here for the girls. They usually sleep in Amanda’s old room, but we only have a twin bed so someone then sleeps on an air mattress. So Amanda suggested a wonderful idea which would give us a much better use for Amanda’s room since it is so seldom used. It would be to change the room to a den with our second tv and buy a sofa bed.  I am over the moon about this, because it is something I have wanted to do for some time, but today Lynn was very agreeable about it!  Yaya!
  • I am thrilled that things are moving right along here with our library room. I am feeling that by the time the shutter men arrive next week to take their measures, things will be pretty much all finished! Now that would be a huge blessing!
