Since Saint Patrick's Day is March 17 it might be nice to talk about it.
1. Do you celebrate the day and is it more secular or religious for you? I used to celebrate it when I as teaching elementary School. I was more interested in celebrating before I did Ancestry.com as I thought I was Irish, but my Higgins line turned out to be English! But we loved our trip to Ireland in 2015 and I am sharing photos from the trip on my page this week!
2. Americans eat corned beef and cabbage but it's not traditional in Ireland at all. In my house its Colcannon and Beef Stew or Cottage pie (shepherds pie made with beef instead of lamb).. which is more realistic and far less salty. Do you make special meals for holidays? What will you make for St. Patrick's Day? I was just thinking last evening to make a cottage pie.. probably will re- consider it again!
3. Do you have much green in your wardrobe? Does the color look good on you? I recently purchased a minty spring green sweater and I do like that green, plus I did order a Wool cable knit laden green sweater from the Ireland last year, which I love for its warmth!!
4. In school we put up giant green shamrocks and Leprechauns. We made green paper chains to decorate our classrooms. What do you do to decorate? While I was in Ireland I chose a few knick knacks to place around our home for March. We visited the Belleek Pottery factory there and I love Belleek china!!
I am loving how this is looking more and more like sweater weather. I cannot wait to break out my green Irish cardigan.. maybe next week.. It is pretty heavy.
♥♥ As I look outside my window ♥♥ The trees are really, finally changing.. Now I hope they will still be beautiful by next weekend. I hope to get out and drive about a bit!
♥♥ Right now I am ♥♥
I am excited to get to eat breakfast out and then we are purchasing items for the book bags to be sent to Appalachian Missions. We are always pleased to help in these small ways., whether it is Samaratian's Purse, Christmas Child boxes, or Helping poor families at Christmas in Guatemala. We have done these things in association with our church for many years., but this year, we were both shocked at the prices.. even at Walmart. The supply was there, but the prices have more than doubled since last year! Sad commentary!
♥♥ Thinking and pondering ♥♥
I cannot believe my calendar. I have nothing going on except midweek my allergy shot and then Bible Study , then Intercessors for America later in week. Yippee!!!!!! I think I may try to get a hair appointment... I am getting a bit shaggy!
♥♥ How am I feeling ♥♥ I am feeling good.. It feels great to be able to get around the house doing chores and making a difference.. I know Hubs appreciates it, as well!!
♥♥ On the breakfast plate ♥♥ Lynn always fixes the morning coffee, and our fruited yogurt. We have some left over blueberry pancakes from the weekend. so I hope to warm up one and munch on that as my mid morning snack!
♥♥ On the dinner plate ♥♥
Weekend leftovers... choices of Chinese chicken with veg and cashews with fried rice, and tacos ...what a combination! I think tacos for lunch!
♥♥ What I'm wearing ♥♥
Blue slacks and a long sleeve pull over. I wore my quilted coat while we were out .. By the time we got home it was much warmer!
♥♥ On my reading pile ♥♥ I finished the book of Esther and that led me to Job, which I have decided not to read this time around. I've read it a few times and I just cannot find a lot in it that inspires me. This sounds terrible, but I really have to be in a Job mood! So I am moving on to Song of Songs. We did the Psalms, Proverbs and Ecclesiastes in the spring.
♥♥ On my TV this week ♥♥
Mostly YouTube videos.
♥♥ Looking around the house ♥♥
The dining room became tops- turvy after we piled up the bags of book bag gear we purchased to fill the bags heading out to the Appalachian Mission project. My bag is all set, Lynn’s is still spread out all over the end of the table! Oh, well, it looked good for a couple of days!
♥ ♥ From the camera ♥ ♥
Some autumnal color in our maples, today!
Pattern entitled The Strawberry Thief!
These two items were given to me by my daughter for my birthday while in Scotland because I had mentioned to her months before my interest in William Morris. I have renewed more interest in his creativity and design. I am thinking of doing some William Morris decor in the room we will be redoing up here in one of the bedrooms. We are changing it into an upstairs den.. a place I can go to when I lie awake in the night. We have already decided on sofa bed and hope to get it ordered this week. It is rather exciting to have a new little project on mind!
♥ ♥ Devotional ♥ ♥
Why is a daily quiet time important?
We need a spiritual refill every day. Just like we take time to eat every day in order to keep up our health and strength, our spirits need feeding also. We have to be renewed to become stronger in our faith.
This morning I read Isaiah 40:31: But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
This reminded me that it’s important for me to do more than just read a Bible chapter, say a quick prayer, and rush into what I need to do today. Part of a daily devotional time is taking time to worship and listen to God. This involves waiting for His answers. I’ve had a beautiful time with God today as I took the time out of my hectic life. As I cleaned the kitchen I had worship music playing in the background. This extended my time of listening and prayer, as I worked.
Once again it is time for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4. .
This graphic which is titled books to film inspired today's questions. I thought perhaps the topic of books turned into films might be of interest. I hope you agree.
Here we go:
1. What book turned into a film did you enjoy? Well, I am a huge fan of Pride and Prejudice .. I read it three times for classic novels in High School. The teachers didn't seem to mind.. Probably didn't collaborate, but I did learn so much from the reading and I fell in love with classic English literature. Anyway, I used to watch the PBS version every year..
I mean who doesn't want to watch a wet Colin Firth!
But then the new two hour version arrived and I was totally smitten!!
So nice to give over an evening and see the tale performed start to finish!
2. Did you ever find the film version of a book to be better than the book or was the book better than the film and which book was it. Oh, when I read The Guernsey and Literary Potato Peel Society
I fell in love with the dynamic of a novel written in letter format. I think I read the whole book in an afternoon! And then again and again. I was pretty excited when the film aired. but as sweet as it was, it just didn't match up to the novel!
3. If you could decide what book should be a movie, which would it be and who would you get to play the main characters? Well before they made Outlander into a series I had already decided that Gerard Butler would play Jamie,
and who cared about Claire, if it couldn't be me!.. But I think they did a wonderful job of casting.
4. Have you watched a movie and then had to go read the book or has the opposite occurred and influenced you to see the movie? I am sure it has happened, but I just cannot think of the instance.. but wait, I do remember reading a book about Ian Fleming way back in my early twenties and I am pretty sure that led me to want to see more of the James Bond movies.
1. Thursday (Oct 13) is National Train Your Brain Day. What do you do to keep your brain in tip top shape? Well, because I do have some brain fog from my second booster I do a lot to try to help my brain and memory. I do take vitamins and try to have a well rounded diet! Then I do crossword puzzles, ha, couldn’t get todays Wordle in The NY Times! I do all kinds of puzzles and play memory games I find online. .The doctor says as long as I eventually remember the lost word in a conversation, it isn’t that bad …I do think it is getting better.
2. You can sit with anyone in the world and 'pick their brain'...whom do you choose? Tell us why? So many…I listened to a terrific interview today on YouTube. It was Lance Wallnau and Jimmy Evans, a pastor in Dallas, Fort Worth, the Gateway Church. I found him to be very informative and he opened a lot of current and future events for me based on scripture. It was if he was unlocking some mystery. ….very interesting. I think I’d like to pick his brain a little more.
3. What's something happening in the world (or your corner of it) right now that you have trouble 'wrapping your brain around'?
I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone could continue to embrace the President after how he and his policies have diminished our nation and is crippling our economy.
4. On a scale of 1-10 where do you fall in the pumpkin fanclub? (1=blech, 10=make it all pumpkin all the time) Tell us something delicious you've tasted recently that had some pumpkin in it somewhere. I am a 9 on pumpkins. We buy them to decorate our porch., I buy canned pumpkin the bake a pie. I don’t like the pie as much as my husband does, but we make our own using less sugar than store bought. That’s about it on pumpkins, though.
5. Share a favorite song, book, or movie with an autumn title, setting, or vibe. All songs I can think of are Oldie Goldie’s, like Autumn Leaves and Autumn in New York, but I can’t they are favorites… movies. Favorite movies are Charlie Brown movies.. The Great Pumpkin and Thanksgiving movies. I love those, but to tell the truth I dread Autumn tv and films because Halloween has taken over the airways and it is hard to find anything of worth watching even on a cooking show. I am not a fan of Halloween at all. Satan has taken it over in my opinion. I do enjoy Hallmark movies in autumn. The beauty of autumn is always on display!
6. Insert your own random thought here. I do love Autumn food.. the spices and the warm comfort of many autumn foods bring much joy to home. I love autumn candles and scents to fill the air. I love the smell of spiced apples baking and expectation of a cosy autumn fire or fire pit with marshmallows and a cosy throw about my shoulders. That brings back such warm and loving memories of long ago fire pits and beloved family and friends.
that is one thing I enjoy about Facebook each morning the gorgeous photos aired of God's creation. All is not bad online for sure.! I ,also , am praising Him for Youtube. where so much of Him can be found and savored. Next to time spent in His Word I enjoy the godly sites found on Youtube! Thank you, Lord, for that outlet of expression and teaching!!
I am so thankful for my dear Husband who is such a treasure to me. He is really the one who keeps everything going around here.. Without him, I would be pretty much helpless, I cannot carry loads of laundry up and down, I cant keep the outside looking trim and beautiful, I cannot get so much of what needs doing like he is so faithful to do.. I do not mea it to sound like I take advantage of him, but God did a Grat thing putting us together!!! Thank you Lord for our life together. May our lives be blessed together for the rest of our lives!!!
Thank you, Lord, for the Holy Spirit in our lives.. and how You taught me so much throughout the years of my life., The closeness I feel to you through the Spirit, and how your Spirit interacts with mine.. it seems to be manifesting so much more with each passing day. I love how the intimacy I feel with you seems to be exploding within me.. through the deep "knowing" that I receive from you which reminds me of various things in my present and past that demonstrates that at those special times I was walking in your will, and I long now for that" knowing" to be a constant in my life!
I am thankful for dear ( I guess I should half life long ) lifelong friends. I met Dot and Lynne between 20- 25 years ago , in church. We, all three of us , had similar understanding about our faith, importance of corporate prayer and zeal for knowing more about the Lord! For several of those years we met in each other’s homes to study God’s Word, share life’s testimonies of how God had been working in our lives, and soon we had 6 ladies meeting weekly. Back in 2011 God spoke to us and felt Him moving us to start a corporate prayer initiative where we invited prayer warriors from churches in our city to meet and pray for revival and truth in government, media etc. we met like this bi monthly for 5 years. Until we felt it was time to stop. But this week we are feeling it is time to pick up that mantle again. So we will start meeting to pray next Friday. Thank you, Lord, for moving in our lives!
I must write about how ecstatic I am about a move of the Spirit toward the U S.. I watched a video this week from Dutch Sheets who had prophetic words about God’s plan for America.
I truly believe God is ready to do an awesome work in the nations and He is starting with America... the nation that historically was founded on Christian beliefs and provided so many missions to the lost nations of the world!
God is ready to move in the nations and He wants America back... to declare Himself to the nations of the earth.. Many pastors are declaring that an awakening is coming! Praise God!
Thank you, Lord!!!!
Let's decree the Word back to God
Decree a thing and it shall be established. Life and death are in the power of the tongue. Words have the power. Words are destinations. Words are involved in every new season in your life.
You have learned that your tongue steers your life. You have also discovered your authority to decree a thing. Scripture says, “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways” (Job 22:28).
Here are some declarations. Speak these over your life with expectation.
I DECREE the keys of the kingdom of heaven have been given to me, and whatsoever I bind on earth is bound in heaven and whatsoever I loose on earth is loosed in heaven. (Matthew 16:19)
I DECREE no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against me in judgment shall be condemned. (Isaiah 54:17)
I DECREE I am blessed coming in and blessed going out. I am the head and not the tail, above only, and not beneath. (Deuteronomy 28:13)
I DECREE I am strong in the Lord and the power of His might as I put on the whole armor of God and stand against all the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:11)
I DECREE my steps are ordered every day by the Lord. (Psalm 37:23)
I DECREE all things work together for my good because I love God and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
I DECREE God is my refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble. (Psalms 46:1)
I DECREE God has not given me the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)
I DECREE the LORD renews my strength; I mount up with wings as eagles; I run, and shall not be weary, walk, and faint not. (Isaiah 40:31)
I DECREE the favor of God. If God be for me, who can be against me? (Romans 8:31)
I DECREE I give and it shall be given back to me; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, shall men give into my bosom. (Luke 6:38)
I DECREE I delight myself in the LORD and he gives me the desires of my heart. (Psalms 37:4)
I DECREE I have the peace of God that passes all understanding. (Philippians 4:7)
I DECREE I am a believer with signs follow me. In the Name of Jesus I cast out devils, speak with new tongues, take up serpents, and if I drink any deadly thing it will not harm me; I lay hands on the sick, and they recover. (Mark 16:17-19)
I DECREE greater is He that lives in me than he that lives in the world. (1 John 4:4)
I DECREE My God supplies all of my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)
I DECREE by His stripes, I am healed. (1 Peter 2:24)
I DECREE I am born of God, and the evil one cannot touch me. (1 John 5:18)
I DECREE I call on the Lord and He answers me and shows me great and mighty things I know not of. (Jeremiah 33:3)
I DECREE I have been given the power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt me. (Luke 10:19)
I DECREE God gives me the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places that I may know that the LORD is God. (Isaiah 45:3)
I DECREE God is not a man that he should lie to me, neither the son of man that he should change His mind. The things he has said, he will do, and the things he has spoken he will make good. (Numbers 23:19)
I DECREE wealth and riches shall be in my house because I fear the Lord. (Psalm 112:3)
I DECREE the kingdom of God come, in my life, family, marriage, ministry, relationships, and work. (Matthew 6:10)
I DECREE I am satisfied with the words of mouth because life and death are in the power of my tongue. (Proverbs 18:20)
