It is hard for me to believe that it has been a year since our last Valentine's Sweetheart luncheon at church. When I was searching my files for red I found this great shot of my buddies, Gerri and David , with whom I got to join at their table last  year...sad to say, last year I went stag!  But this year my Valentine will be with me!

 David looks like he has been  a bell ringer in another life... great follow  through, there, David!

Today to celebrate Ruby Tuesday I just had to post about my honey!

He works so hard and shows his love for our family in so many ways.... he is the life force that keeps things going around here.... and I love him very much! Right now we are having so much fun trying to learn about our Ipods we gave each other for Christmas. It is almost a competition to see who gets their's set up first...
I mean who doesn't enjoy a bit of friendly competition!

I can't believe how long it has been since I revelled in red....but today I have to show homage to the fading glory of my lovely angel wing begonia which has stood sentinel by the back door all summer...


even bearing the horrid drought and searing heat... yet, she demonstrated the glory of creation all season... but with the falling temps this week, alas, her days are numbered...

Even through the sunroom window she heralded a happy, good morning as I checked out the coming day!

You can always spot a dash of vibrant red just about anywhere you look in this beautiful seaport village of Whitby in the eastern shore of North Yorkshire... definitely on my bucket list of places to visit in the UK!

This is the last time I'll be seeing this hutch assortment for a while.... thankfully, the season for red decor is coming to an end... not that I dont love red and all it entails.... Christmas cheer, Valentine sentiments,.... but red is definitely for winter... snowy thoughts... which to be honest... I believe most folks will attest..."Enough, already!" " UNCLE!!!
Starting today, I will be pulling my green together for St. Patty and dare I say it,..
"Spring!"
Like our host, Mary.. I'll be searching for red tulips and other rosy harbingers of the vernal equinox!

It's time for me to start thinking about Valentine's Day!
Last year the mantel sported a festive array of color.


Many of those decorations were gifts I had received from internet friends from all over the country which made the decor so much more special.

Last year we also had our children around during Valentine's!

So that when the family all got together.. well, it was sublime!

So this year... it may be very different.... but our valentine's day will be special.... because there is so much love no matter what, or who,, we'll have a grand time!!

I'll never forget this... my first sight of Amanda running over to greet us when we arrived in Boston ... our first visit to their new home there....I was determined to capture the moment, and the photo could be better, I suppose, but not the subject... it just blesses me everytime I see it!

I have enjoyed the splash of ruby red in my life the past few days...

These gorgeoous treasures from the garden liberally splash across my kitchen counter every afternoon when Lynn brings in that day's bounty!

The savory red of the vibrant geraniums on the porch declare the wonderful weather, temps and rain the Lord has provided this summer which has keep the blossoms looking fresh and bright!

The crepe myrtle finally has decided to show off a bit.. this its first year to bloom.

My mandevilla is blooming ruby red as it begins its ascent up the trellis to show off its radiant glory this summer. This gorgeous specimen promises to really be quite a showpiece this season!
