Trinkle House

Today I am  sharing on  Favorite Things Thursday..
Thursday Favorite Things
One of my absolutely favorite things to do is    visit beds and breakfasts  and last month as a  senior outing with my church w e visited the most fabulous  one  in proximity to us here.  Located in Wytheville, Va,   Trinkle Mansion is  perfection... and  Lynn and I are  planning to go spend  a good amount of time  enjoying  the  grace and  comfort  it offers!!!!
To enjoy the ambiance of the outside  porches is  heavensent.

Ok, well,  these  dear friends from our  Sunday School class  got there first,  but  when we go back...  I claim my turn!

Photobucket
But  if  someone has already  staked a claim,   I wont  be deterred...  I will just step inside .. I could  step right into the side door and enter the dining room...  I bet I would find a  cooling     offering or a  warm one  depending on the  time of year! heheheheh
Photobucket
and if Im looking for solace  I could turn right and  walk  around the corner  to the library  and find a cozy spot to  read  my  mystery book, Im sure to  have along with me.

Photobucket
(Wish these  came out better  but it is  rather dark  and very   cozy  in  the library!)
Im sure to find a warming fire  to   lull me into a  daydream or two!
If I get too  comfy  and warm I could opt for the lounge  fireplace  ...  aw, to  Lounge on  that  over stuffed  leather  sofa     and listen to    enriching  symphonic  music....

by the parlor..
Photobucket
but I know if I  stop in there  I will be drawn on out to the conservatory
Photobucket
where I know I will be  completely  enraptured  by the  stockpile of   fabulous recipe books  and   accoutrments of all kinds that   are awaiting me there...  Im sure this is where  our hostess does her menu planning      which she prepares   from her    fabulous  kitchen!
Photobucket
Have to go now   but next time I'll share  about my  worst dilemma..   How to choose   a  bedroom   to stay in!
Now that is  a problem..More later!!!

Three or More Tuesday

Visit Tam at The Gypsy's Corner for more TOMT!

Today I am reflecting on the bed and breakfast experience. Two years ago my dear husband and I decided to make our anniversary celebrations infinitely more special by partaking of the bed and breakfast opportunities available. This was probably the best decision we have made in a long time..
That first B&B was the Federal Crest Inn and by far they exceeded all our expectations.

That summer we decided to vacation at a B&B just 30 minutes away from us...

Photobucket
Located in Blue Ridge Mountains there was nothing like taking your morning coffee listening to the chatter of nature on that fabulous veranda!!
Last year we stayed at Brierly Hill.

Waking up there was like suddenly finding yourself in a Jane Austen novel!

Then this past late summer on our way to Boston we stayed at The Swiss Woods in Lititz.
Photobucket
That door was the garden exit from our room.. onto this marvelous scene..

and on our return trip we stayed in Hanover in this lovely inn.

where we enjoyed this amazing first course!

So now it is time to begin planning for our anniversary trip coming up at the end of March~
exciting because our destination will be.....
Williamsburg!

Brierly Hill

I am so excited! For our 37th anniversary Lynn is taking me to Brierly Hill. We
love bed and breakfast inns. And this one perched on a hill overlooking the Shenandoah Valley near Lexington promises to be a favorite!
Photobucket
We drove up to it last week on our way back from the Maple Festival and it sits atop the crest like a jewel! The views all around are amazing. I'm hoping for a much clearer day on our visit! We are staying in the room entitled, Once Upon a Time!
Photobucket
Isnt that romantic! Known for her Macadamian waffles, our hostess certainly knows how to set a pretty tablescape!
Photobucket
I can hardly wait!!!

The Oaks Victorian Inn

The sun had already gone down behind the massive oaks when we first arrived Wednesday evening. The sunlight dappled through the leaves as evening shadows crept across the lawn, but the 115 year old Inn shone like a dazzling gem in a sea of green!Photobucket Our excitement peaked as we drove up the drive toward the Inn, as old homes always makes us sizzle with wonder, who had lived here, or which wayfarers had found respite from their weary travel within this space... each nook and cranny promising secrets to be discovered.Photobucket Just to traverse the wide expanse of veranda is to revel in a glory of a time gone by that calls my name, "come home, this is the place you want to be!!"PhotobucketAnd then we were ringing the bell, but alas the Innkeeper had gone to dinner so we were to let ourselves in and quietly explore on our own. PhotobucketAlright, by me!
Our room, the Alexandria was exquisite, to say the least. The bed , a marvel!
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketThe bath, a jewel!PhotobucketAnd then we went exploring! The parlor was elegant!
PhotobucketPhotobucket. The hallway beyond led to the gorgeous stairway, we did not use because our room was on ground level.PhotobucketThe breakfast room was completely charming..reminscient of an English Inn.PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket Relete with an amazing collection of teapots!
Photobucket And that first night the inn tucked us in for a very peaceful, cozy night of sweet dreams!Photobucket
Thursday we started our day following a delightful candlelit breakfast of orange bread with chocolate chips, fresh fruit cup, and decadent bluberry croissants slathered in between with a yummy melted creamy cheese! And then the secret garden beyond called to us. PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket Innkeeper, John, fed the brood of fish in the pond!
PhotobucketPhotobucketSometime we would love to come up and stay in the hide-a-away garden cottage.Photobucketand then we were off to town to check out the sights.First stop, Cambria, PhotobucketThe old rail station is a testament to a bygone era. Now the area sports antique shops where we whiled away several hours!Photobucket
Later that evening we met out dear Amanda and Joshua at the prestigious Summit Restaurant to celebrate.Photobucket A lovely old victorian, each room hosts lavish decor to sate the eyes even as the food sates the palette. Photobucket Delicious crab cakes were the fare of the day for Amanda and myself!PhotobucketPhotobucket
This morning we enjoyed our coffee in the library. The morning air on the veranda was almost too cool even with my sweater.PhotobucketPhotobucketOur happy butler kept us company while we awaited out breakfast call, which included Belgium waffles with lemon zest, (yummy), homemade butter, maple, nut balls, fruit cup, blueberry banana nut bread, and did I ever say, the best coffee in four counties! And then we enjoyed our last visit to the veranda.Photobucket I loved tht little chair with the flowering basket so much I went to a shop this mornin g and bought one to bring home. It will be my Show and Tell Friday, later.PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketYou can probably tell I was loathe to think about leaving. we enjoyed the bird song so much and the trees being at least 150 yesrs old were glorious. I can't believe I didn't get a picture of them! And then we were saying, farewell, but not goodbye! We'll be back!Photobucket
