Time for Me

First, of all  may I say I am delighted to be featured on Sandi's
 this week.
Today I  want to share a special time I  celebrated  last week.... following our  breakfast out at  Our Daily Bread I  picked up  these  delectable Macarons to try...  I was particularly interested in the  texture and  the  various fillings...  since I am very interested in trying my hand at baking these marvels myself.
So I brewed myself a  lovely   Rooibos  tea  and  took  a  respite from  the  troubles of the week and enjoyed a  quite hour of contemplation.. I haven't used my heirloom  cups for some time,,, I inherited this pattern from  Hub's mother...  it is  Syracuse, the Portland pattern...  I just love them!
So then I set myself a lovely  simple tea table
Opened my latest edition of Victoria BlissTea
And  entered into a  teatime reverie  for an hour... a much needed  time to myself!

Thinking of My Daughter on Her Birthday

Birthdays are  wonderful mileposts,  especially  when
celebrated  together,   but  when  your daughter  has a birthday  and she lives 12 hours away,   it is  bittersweet.... So many  birthday memories in July....  mine,,,  my dad's and  Amanda's  all in one month...  this was the first birthday  dad celebrated in heaven...  and now  Amanda is  5 states away...
So I created a  small vignette  to commemorate her  not only  as daughter but ,also,  as mother  to our  precious Birdie!
My color theme is     cool effects of blue and green... but also,  it is inspired by Amanda's  birthday cup...
Pictured here  not only     our   sweet  little Puddin'n Pie
Birdie,  but  the  July cup from the
Royal Albert Collection of   Months and   flowers....  and I  can surely tell you,   the Forget-Me-Nots  are  very  apropo!
As  the  basis of the  vignette I started with   a vase of sweet daisies...I  utilized    the celadon vase I found at the consignment shop last month... the one with  birdies  embossed on it.
Here you can readily see   to  whom I am paying  my most heart  felt affections....
As I studied the room  after   arranging this   tablescape,  I realized  my  tribute to  the cooling   blues and greens  all around  the  living room...

Blue adornments on the sofa...
my favorite blue flowers of all  scattered  here and there
As well as,   a living green in a blue and white planter...I must say,  my green thumb  has been     better   of late!

Bluebirds and    nests
nestling on the mantel!

it all just makes me feel a bit closer to my  sweethearts who live so far away  at times like these.  But praise the Lord,   the countdown is   activated til  we will   give them both
  great  big hugs!

Until then I   have our  weekly facetimes!   AW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 Happy  Birthday, Amanda!!!

Fancy white birthday cake with pink and yellow decorative flowers and eight burning candles

Also,  it  is my  great honor to be featured  here this week!

Pass the Pot O' Tea Please

Nothing  speaks  to the   inner  soul   like  a  calming    afternoon break over a  cup of   lovely tea...  Teatime around here  is  an essential  part of  the day.... No matter  what I am doing,   taking a tea break makes everything  seem more  peaceful and  less dreadful...  and  let's face it, life can become somewhat dreadful..  Just having  the tea components   readily available is  part of the experience....

One doesnt   want to spend   undue  time trying to locate the  implements!
How about tea  in the morning,    by the bedside! Why, I think tea for one, as long as it is for me, is a lovely  thing!

“You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.”

Tea on the sideboard  in preparation for  a  luncheon  gathering is   an absolute!

On   a miserably hot and humid day like today,   an iced tea  break is called for....

Kate Greenaway  wrote....

"With a cool breeze blowing, and not too much heat -
And doesn't the tea-tray look charmingly neat?"

Or,   sometime,  an iced tea  break on the porch with my sweetie,   makes the day   special!

One of my favorite   teatimes is when I steal  away  with   my  cuppa tea  and   enjoy  my   new magazine of fresh ideas and   lovely  inspirations!
photo Spring2012128.jpgOr if it is   extremely pleasant in  the garden,   an afternoon  soiree' is   simply sublime!

An afternoon of bird watching and  drawing,  is much more   festive with a bit of tea and  a sweet!

The Tea Party

I had a little tea party
This afternoon at three.
'Twas very small-
Three guest in all-
Just I, myself and me.

Myself ate all the sandwiches,
While I drank up the tea;
'Twas also I who ate the pie
And passed the cake to me.
