God's Promises

I have been focused on the importance of prayer for our nation during possible difficult times ahead.... it is helpful to pray these scriptural promises back to the Lord!  Everywhere we turn we see and hear warning signs that 2012 may be a turbulent year..

  • staying close and knowing the promises of God in His Word to us will strengthen our resolve and hope, and build our faith in Him to endure whatever may come!

    • "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose." Romans  8:2

  • "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy paths acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5,6

"But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19

"The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want." Psalm 23:1

"Humble yourselves therefore unto the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time:
Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you." 1 Peter 5:6,7

"Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the Lord, to the mighty One of Israel." Isaiah 30:29

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31

"Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee." Isaiah 26:3

"Fear thou not; for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee, yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness." Isaiah 41:10

"When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee," Isaiah 43:2

"Be careful for nothing; but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made know to God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6,7

"In God I have put my trust: I will not be afraid what men can do unto me." Psalm 56:11

"Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord." Psalm 27:14

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord." Romans 6:23

"But God commanded His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." 1 John 5:11, 12

SUNNY in Scotland-High 66

Doesn't that just sound fabulous! What a beautiful day there. I was just checking the webcam at Eilean Donan- the icon of my Caledonia. To me that is just about heaven! Of course they have their fair share of drear- well, more than their fair share, but isn't that just like life? Today it is SUNNY and fair in my life- I have not a care in the world- a lovely morning spent with my dear husband who chose to report to work later than usual so we could enjoy a leisurely morning-followed by a wonderful afternoon spent playing with dear friends out to luncheon and the movies. Fair with not a chance of rain, today!! But showers and drear are looming on the horizon as I contemplate a visit to the podiatrist next week to see about an infected toe. Funny how we dread the very thing that is good for us and is going to make things so much better. Well, as long as I medicate and put on my toe protector, I'm good to go for today! If you're reading this one, I'm praying your skies are SUNNY today!!

A Word for Today

Believe
Do we truly believe God's Word? It is one thing to believe in God, and to claim Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, but believing God's Word is something entirely different, and I am afraid that society and the world has conditioned us to live our lives in such a way that we are too comfortable in our own fleshly skin to utterly believe and apply the Word rightly and profitably to do kingdom work. For example, look at John 14: 9-14.
Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 10Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
So there it is verse 11-14. Believe Jesus enough to take up His cross and follow Him in doing what we saw Him doing- even greater things because we have His Holy Spirit living inside of us! I don't know about you but I know I am not applying this verse rightly. I need to take Jesus out of the neat little box I have placed Him in, a box marked by the confines of my finite mind and comfort zone. I need to move into that place of co-laboring with Him and His spirit to promote His kingdom on earth. To me this is huge- monumental, yet it has been there in the scripture all along, yet where are our mentors in this. Where can we look here in the church to see brothers and sisters operating in this realm? Just keeping looking at Him. He is our role model. We are to do what He did, yet even greater things because he is with the Father, interceding for us and sending His Spirit to empower us. What a challenge!

But those who wait on the LORD

Shall renew their strength;

They shall mount up with wings like eagles,

They shall run and not be weary,

They shall walk and not faint.
