Our lives are filled with blessings each day..
This past week has been a bit challenging..I finally got scheduled for my knee replacement a couple of weeks ago. My knee problem started 4 years ago when I tore both meniscuses. That is when I started needing a cane... it helped me quite a bit just in time for us to go on the Scotland tour with our daughter,SIL, and grands for two weeks and, I am sad to say, as much I thrilled over everything I saw and did, my trip was scaled back quite a bit..while others attended grand galleries and walking trips like walking Culloden and Edinburgh Castle, I road the stop and go bus to enjoy the beauty of the city.. But I had always really wanted to tour Culloden.; a huge, what you may call cemetery where hundreds of men were buried in areas designated by each clan name, Scotsmen who fought and died there during the battle of Culloden which changed Scotland for over a hundred years. After all, I had ancestors buried there. But I was, at least, on the property for a time.. but, anyway, even as my life has been limited for some time, now I am looking down the barrel of a knee replacement that I am trying to take as it comes.
This week it started coming.. I attended a class on Wednesday to go over what to expect and then I had tests and bloodwork done. This coming week I have to take a medical stress test and pass it since I recently had my ablation of the heart. I appreciate your prayers this Tuesday.
But back to this week..
On Sunday, our church service was wonderful.. I really enjoyed our Connect Group.. such a fabulous group with which to discuss the scriptures in small groups! After church our dear friends, Vicky and Dudleys joined us for lunch at our favorite Chinese resistant. They had just reopened the Buffet bar which was closed over covid! Oh, my goodness, was everything delicious and the restaurant was completely full. I know now if we want to dine there, get there early!!!
On Monday, I had my wellness exam with my regular doctor and it all went well. Thank you, Lord.. at my age one always wonders what may rear its ugly head!
Tuesday, my knee was really bothering me so I cancelled my Bible Study and just rested and iced it quite a bit and it helped which really aided me on my trek to the surgery class on Wednesday. I felt so well that after wards. dear Lynn, my husband took us to breakfast at our very favorite place!!!
Their second and third menu item is delectable... such a treat!
Thursday I was feeling pretty good.. the knee was barely a memory. So I took advantage of doing some chores with hubby that we had been putting off for some time, but as the holiday is fast approaching it had to be done soon. So I refer to my problem of purging. I have at least 6 sets of china and one is in the corner cupboard and takes up all the shelves. It is a complete set of 8 of everything, gorgeously formal and just divine, but I think in 50 years we used it maybe 5 times, meanwhile my mother's beautiful Franciscan Apple dishes were in the bottom of a cabinet in our sunroom. I have used it once that I can remember and I have decided that I really want to switch out the corner cupboard for the apple dishes which I plan to use on Thanksgiving. So as it stands now, all of the dishes are on the dining room table. Hubs went to Lowes and bought packing material and tonight we will pack up the exquisite china. dust out the cupboard and decorate it with my mama's beautiful apple dishes. I cannot wait!
On Friday Lynn took the boxes to the discovery shop where only really nice items are donated and the proceeds go to the Cancer Society! Hubs and I decided at our age we couldn't deal with Marketplace or yard sales so we are donating and giving away our unwanted items. So far I have given away 3 sets of dishes in one way or another. Lynn, also, stopped off at a nursing facility on the way to drop off a bag of very nice home and garden magazines for the residents. They really enjoy getting seasonal magazines. and I was such a hoarder, I had magazines from the 1990's. But they all look and smell brand new!!
It is a joy to clear out hoards of stuff ... I wish it could happen at a faster rate,
because living in a lighter and well decorated space makes me very happy! so far the book shelves are lighter , the magazine racks, and now the china cabinets.. I have 3,, are looking so much better and I am feeling FREE!
God has blessed us over the years and we have lived well, but always within your means..we never travelled too much just a vacation every other year, and we were able to take two European tours in our life...I would say we live modestly but our home feels like our castle.. But now it is a much more decluttered castle.. or might I say, Palace! HeeHee!
(Some palace.. what with our summer cloth still on the table.. how gauche")
I cannot wait to take down the summer table cloth and start my fall decor in the dining room!!
