We Didnt Think It Could be Done

2018 will go down in the annuls of our family as the year we finally renovated our powder room... It took several years of wondering just how on earth could we ever make it larger and more accessible! When we bought our  wonderful 80 year old English Tudor home we were  pleased there was a downstairs bathroom with its own shower, but it  hadnt been redone  probably in 50 years and was  so small  you couldnt manage the toilet without sitting sideways  or else your
knees were into the radiator.. There was a utility closet right next to the powder room, but  we needed the storage so badly in this older home!
Then ond day, early spring, we happened into  the Better Wood store and found  exactly what we needed ..a Jelly cabinet/ pantry...We  ordered one painted to  match  so lovely in the hallway outside the bath

and it manages to contain everything we need  right outside the bathroom door!
The job was a complete  gut job...  even plumbing and wiring had to be relocated..  But  we couldnt have been happier..  in 21 days  it looked like this!
These  items fit right in the nook  taken from the closet..

I absolutely love our new shower!!!!

The wainscoting came to me as an after thought..  We love it so much!!

 BLISS!!

Happy Homemaker Monday

Return to DOASAHM here.

The weather...
Our weather  for the last few weeks has  been a yo-yo..up and down..  such a teaser!!!!  This week it s up    with a bit of cooler  air  by week's end....I  will  be a house bunny this week.. I have only one thing to do outside of the home    and  the rest of the time I will catch up on chores and  perhaps a bit of reading!!!

Right now I am ...
I am listening to Kevin Kern's station on Pandora.... again  lovely instrumental  music that I love!!!

I am thinking....
about my excitement about  the new Bible Study I start next week.. I have done Community Bible Study  before and it is terrific, but I took off last year... This year we are doing Isaiah  which I have never done a real study on before...  It  is going to be  wonderful!!!

Something fun or interesting that happened....
I love how  we and  some of  Hub's cousins and their spouses get together once a month   for dinner out.. Saturday night we went to El Rodeo... I am not  much on Mexican food.. I like some things  but others  not  so I  really have a hard time ordering... This time  I ordered  a perfect dish.. It was a chicken quesadilla...  many times the menu  fails to  have anything  I actually know...Not so Saturday!  YAYA We had such a great time.  I also owe  a breakfast out with a dear girl friend.. I need to give her a call this week for sure!!!  I think we'll go to IHOP...Yeah!!!

On my reading pile....
Mainly, Trusting God by Jerry Bridges
Wow  this is a reread for me,  but  the other time was  35 years ago..  What an amazing book...  truths I have known,  but to  read them in print again really brings them home!!!!  And at  a very advantageous time  for me!!
Hardcover Trusting God : Even When Life Hurts Book

On my TV.....
All I really like on national TV is PBS, HG TV and the Food network.. series TV  doesn't appeal to me at all..
Netflix is my saving grace...
I am looking forward to Poldark, though!

On the menu for this week....
chef salad tonight...  I can't plan beyond that...

On my to do list....
 laundry
thinking of  decorating a bit for  fall...
organizing clothing in  and out of my closet.. what a mess!

In the craft basket....Nothing at the moment.

Looking around the house....Our entry level looks great.. everything in its place and   ready for come what may. I really need to spend some time thins week up stairs.  Ironing and   organizing as  stated above!BLEH!

From the camera:
I practiced a crust less quiche Saturday  because  a friend and I  are signed up in Sunday School to bring treats for next Sunday .  I will make it in a rectangular dish so I can cut them in smallish squares.  Goodness, we have 50 in class now so it is hard to  make enough food  to go around.  Dot is taking  scones and  something. I'm  taking this and grapes!

Prayers for...
The President and his family, and  the administration
Pray that  all the scandals and investigations will finally  be resolved and  justice  meted out.
For the God's best person be  quickly  voted into the  Supreme Court  position
Pray that the scales  that delude so many will fall off  the  many and  that they will find peace, truth, and salvation
Pray  against division and  the hatred  that  runs rampant
Pray for the sick that they might be healed
Pray for the  lost  who  are  bewildered  and  strained to the max...  they  are hopeless   in need of a loving savior!

Whatever is Lovely, Tea Time

Image result for teatime clipartImage result for teatime clipartImage result for teatime clipart
Our tea last week  was  so much fun.
Friday morning the table was set,

The hutch   housed the tea pots and  condiments

The place settings were  awaiting  my  special friends  from church

I was  looking so forward for 10:30 to arrive!!!...  We were set to celebrate  Elevenses!

The food  would be served from the parlor!
Well,  my dear guests arrived on time  and  the mood was set for a leisurely  respite from the  world's  stress and  troubles  as we  revelled in the spirit of love and  deep friendship!
It was my joy to  in  any way I could lavish my dear companions with  many ideals I gleaned from Emilie Barnes book, If Teacups could Talk .
The premise is  described in this quote, " Somehow, taking tea together encourages am atmosphere of intimacy when you slip off the timepiece in your mind, and cast your fate to the delight of tasty tea, tiny, food,  and thoughtful  conversation! "
Each participant had  a quote to read  spurring on the topic of setting aside  a  time to  set the mind of  beauty and  rest , and  sharing loving memories from our pasts . We  were so leisurely in our  gathering  it lasted until 2...  Lovely!!
Even though my knife skills could have been better, the food was  tasty and   and plentiful!

The cranberry-orange and walnut scones were a huge hit.. served with a mascarpone and  marmalade   cream,   they were  very good!
I just had a varied array of fresh tea bags so  ladies could choose between   caffeinated  and herbal offerings...  I  loved  the Irish Breakfast tea by Twinings!!!

Emilie in her book recommended an easy to bake cake  for  our  tea dessert...  it was  super easy...   and  so  rich only a smallish piece was  sufficient!
My friend loved it so she went home and found it online as well!

Happy Homemaker Monday

Return to DOASAHM here.

The weather...
cool,   cloudy,  and a hint of fall in the air.... love it!!!

Right now I am ...
I am listening to Andre' Gagnon's station on Pandora.... simply gorgeous,  restful,,, serene!!!

I am thinking....
About our daughter and her family this morning..  it sounded like her week this week would  hectic   and I am praying for it to go well,  much better than she thinks!!!

Something fun or interesting that happened....
I am pretty excited.. a Bible teacher we go to  hear once a month on  Bible Prophecy  was sharing this week  on a book  that  had meant the most to him in many years  and  he  highly  recommended it for all to read.. The title sounded familiar to me so I  resisted the urge to purchase  one of the copies he had  for sale..when I got home I was so delighted to find it on my bookcase...  I must have bought it 30 years ago  from the church bookstore at the  church we attended in the 80's..  I  have  decided  I must reread it now!
Hardcover Trusting God : Even When Life Hurts Book

On my reading pile....
Mainly, Trusting God by Jerry Bridges
Jerry Bridges contends that as you begin to explore the scope of God's power over nations, nature, and the detailed lives of individuals, you'll begin to acknowledge His loving control. And as you come to know Him better, you'll find yourself trusting Him more completely.

On my TV.....
One of my heart throbs of the 80's was Gerard Butler,,,  A couple of his films are on Netflix... The Phantom of the Opera...  Love it,,and the one I watched last night.. P.S. I Love You!

On the menu for this week....
light dining

On my to do list....
 laundry
thinking of  decorating a bit for  fall...

In the craft basket....Nothing at the moment.

Looking around the house....
Well, Hubs just dumped this on the dining room table...
Thankfully, it did not spill out.. He has spent hours this summer  shredding old bank statements  from the last several years...  good grief!

From the camera:
