Dear March - Come in

Emily Dickinson, 1830 - 1886

Dear March, Come in

 How glad I am
 I hoped for you before.
 Put down your Hat
You must have walked
How out of Breath you are !

March breezed into our  parlor and dining room this week...  well, it took a bit of  energy and  planning on my part,   to  organize the storage down stairs to get things  ready to  store  for some items to bring out others..  But a lot has been done!!!

It was so much fun to  bring out the St. Patrick's  items...

I know the table needs to be editted... Just getting things together  while I  sang
Molly Malone
In Dublin's fair city  where the girls are so pretty...
I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone
As she wheeled her wheelbarrow
Through the streets broad and narrow
Crying "cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh"
Alive, alive, oh
Alive, alive, oh
Crying "cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh"

I love the Irish so much...

The tulips and  lilies of the valley were an after thought,  but I love the splash of spring on the table!!
It is so much fun to  use my British cottage  tea pot this time of year... anchored each side with little pots o' gold!!

Dear March, how are you, and the Rest

Did you leave Nature well ?
Oh March, Come right upstairs with me
I have so much to tell
I got your Letter, and the Birds
The Maples never knew that you were coming
I declare, how Red their Faces grew,
 But March, forgive me !
And all those Hills you left for me to Hue
 There was no Purple suitable,
You took it all with you !

I decided to pair  my  Johnson Brothers Garden Basket  with  JB Vintage Charm...  I love to mix and match patterns...  The  aqua blue gives a pop to the   table!!

The side board with  the flash  casts  a more dramatic look  as the lamps showcases my etchings  from Ireland of the village of Adare and thee Gap of Dunloe!

The mantel  is  scantly adorned  because  I am leaving room for  bunnies and such  which will arrive in a couple of  weeks for sure!!!

The light in the window made this photo very hard to  accomplish ...  but a flock of sheep  are  grazing under    pussy willow  bush... I  love sheep so much  I have some in every room!!
Obviously, those willows are weeping a bit too much!!!They need a bit of propping up!!!  I think those sheep are  rubbing up against  my vase... ummm!

Who knocks? That April
Lock the Door, I will not be pursued!
He stayed away a Year to call when I am occupied! But trifles look so trivial as soon as you have come That blame is just as dear as Praise
And Praise as mere as Blame!

My genealogy table  featuring  my and Hub's  parents  is decked out in  the first flowering  forsythia...
I love that handsome photo  of my grand dad  circa 1917
The seasonal tree hosts many birds...I will need to  get a close up to come later...
I  look forward to getting more inspiration as I visit my friends' blogs this week!!!  Happy March!!!

Strawberry Trivia

A Strawberry Wednesday Medley...

Hosted by Terri!
NATIONAL STRAWBERRY DAY – February 27

NATIONAL STRAWBERRY DAY
HOW TO OBSERVE
While the best season for strawberries is from late April to August, now might be a good time to scout out strawberry festivals and pick-your-own farms or plan to plant your own strawberry patch. Imagine sitting in your very own patch eating sun-warmed, sweet berries you picked or even grew yourself under clear blue skies.

1. There was a lot of info that I just eliminated from this post (above), but on this 🍓National Strawberry Day🍓, do you have a favorite recipe for strawberries? Would you share it with us?We buy strawberries all the time because Hubs makes us  fruited yogurt eeery morning so I guess we geet our strawberry fix every day...if I  but    a strawberry dessrt out  at a restaurant I probably would be a  shortcake... doesnt get any better...  I do not like strawberries cooked;;;  But  those Lendy's/Shoney's strawberry pies were  wonderful!!!

LENDY'S STRAWBERRY PIE
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups water
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 small pkg. Wild Strawberry Jello
3 pints large fresh strawberries
Cool Whip
Graham Cracker crust

Mix first three ingredients. Bring to boil. Add Jello - stir in. Cool slightly. Pour mixture over berries arranged whole-or-sliced in the graham cracker crust. Chill. Top with the Cool whip. Can garnish with additional berries.
2. Some people think the smaller, northern varieties are sweeter than the larger berries that grow in the south and in California. What are your thoughts on that? My grandmother (mom's mom) grew strawberries in Ohio and she always said they were the sweetest but she never turned down a Florida strawberry when she was down here in the winter!
I dont particularly like those ginormous strawberries.. They  don't taste as good.. I always  sniff the  carton before buying. If I cant smell them I dont get them!
3. There is a Strawberry Festival right here in Plant City, Florida (next town over from Lakeland) and it is a huge event that lasts 11 days with headliner acts each day. Have you ever been to a Strawberry Festival?  Our fair town has  a strawberry festival every May and no,  I've never been... I detest crowds.

4. Strawberries are grown in every US state. Have you ever grown them in your garden?
NO, I  think this post is showing me how  lazy I am... I  hate to bend over to pick  crops..  Peas  were the worst.. I did so much of that for Grandmother  that I have vowed no more...  Bird's Eye are just as good.. Strawberries fall in that same category!
5. Strawberry is the only fruit that has seeds on the outside, and technically it is not a berry but rather a fruit, and would you be surprised to learn that strawberries belong to the rose family? Do you have any strawberry trivia to share with us?
I didn't know some strawberries are perennial.
Now these do look  great!!!

6. Tell us something random about your week!! Well,  the best thing I can think of is after almost 2 weeks of putting chemotherapy cream on my nose  tonight will be the final night...  I think a bit of  some sun damage has  shown up  I have some faint red stripes on my nose  that  may worsen over the next  couple of weeks,  but if it eradicates  the damage I've done over my life  I'll be happy.. Two skin grafts  in the last 2 years  has been enough!!! Here was  me  2 years ago. It took 7 months to  get  this behind me! Then  I had  another one the next year! Please wear sun screen  every day!!!!

Sunday Stealing

Sunday Stealing hosted by  Bev.

These are suggested questions for sponsors of children through Compassion International to ask their sponsored children.

1. What is the most fun thing you have ever done?
In recent years it  was actually something that I feared and dreaded... I was spending a week with  my daughter in New England on my own.. I had ridden up on the train aloe, and  Amanda seemed determined to  get me out of my comfort zone... I was  happy  about  this  event  but  scared too!!
We drove down to New Port, RI to see the mansion.. well, you cant truly see them form   land...  YOU have to get out on the Narragansett Bay...  Well,  I only enjoy water  by sitting beside it and watching it on dry land...  Long bridges even bother me and  , well there were many  long bridges to get  there!!! Let's us say I was glad I wasn't driving!!
Across more bridges like this  and onto  our boat
and out into the Bay...  it was  amazing!!!
 The views awesome...

 I was  delighted!!!!
Even when we  got out farther into the bay... it was  so much fun!!!
The kids  were loving  seeing me loving it, too!!!

We even saw the largest sail boat in the world docked there!!!  Wonderful and fun memories I cherish!!!
The reward at the end of the trail  wasn't too bad either!!
2. Are you left-handed or right-handed?
Right handed
3. What is the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?
Just this  last week,  my dear friend, Carolyn,  who retired from Brighton  Jewelry brought me the  most amazing hostess gift!
Brighton Accessories - Brighton umbrella ☔️
Brighton Accessories - Brighton umbrella ☔️
So  thoughtful!!!
4. What is the biggest animal you’ve seen in the wild?
I guess it would be a buffalo
5. What is the smallest animal you’ve seen in the wild?
Apart from insects~~tree frog
Image result for tree frog
6. Do you ever have funny dreams at night?
I almost always either dream  strange dreams about my  mother's family  including grandma and aunts,, not cousins...  but always at grandma's house,  but it is very different... or I dream bad dreams about  school... teaching school  in my school but not exactly like my school,  but always the same  place, for example..  we are too late to dismiss class and I end up having to drive all 45 of the kids home.
7. If you could make a law for your country, what would it be?
Love your country with  appreciation  and patriotism,  especially for what  our ancestors  sacrificed for  us...    live  by Biblical    morality and love for one another,  in peace and unity..  I guess my type of Utopia...oh yes, and and government leaders  only served no more than 6 years.
8. What would you do if you were invisible for a day?
I can't think of anything  I'd want to do  that I cannot do visible...  doing  anything under cover  usually brings consequences.
9. If you could be someone else for a day, who would you be?
I suppose my daughter  and get to spend a whole day with my grand daughters without  any interruptions    from outside  the home...  we would have so much  fun!!!

I have so much I  want to tell them  and teach them about  things..  like  what to expect on our  trip to Great Britain   in the next couple of years... I would  make them just as excited about what we will see and do as I am.
10. What would you like to change about yourself?
My fitness and strength.,...  at my age  it is harder and harder to accomplish this...    but I must make  the effort ...  big task!! I have  actually  restarted walking..  I  had one reason or another in the last few of years that stopped me...
11. What is your daily routine.
Get up,   enjoy my coffee  while I  check online  for a bit,,  then fix breakfast, get laundry together..  Hubs brings it downstairs and either gets it started and I finish or  opposite , He  vacuums  and I straighten and dust, we  do our Bible reading and I do my Bible study.  I watch a couple of TV shows  mid day with lunch..  I  play with my ipad,     sit by the fire,  read,  or listen to music...some times doze,  and think about getting dinner ready...
but most days it seems  we are interrupted from that routine going places...  we are very  involved with    things outside of home!
12. What would your perfect day be like?
I would  do  the important things  written above  and add to it  some very special quiet time when I write in my journal  what I  sense the Spirit telling me... I used to do this before Hubs retired and I miss it..  I would love to spend  an hour  at the consignment shop and find  something  glorious that  I couldn't live without.. probably  a piece of transfer ware in either red, blue, black or green..Hubs would tell me  he is taking us out to  Reminis for dinner!!
13. How old were you when you learned to read? 6
14. What is the most interesting thing you know?
I know that once you seriously   fall so in love with  your  spiritual quiet time  reading the Bible or  singing praises to God,  there is such an overwhelming sense of peace and completion that  you live with the rest of the day  and you know  you have been in His presence..  You with Him alone,  and it  transcends everything other thing this side of heaven!  When I have been in that  state with Him He has taken me  places in the spirit and shown me things just for my edification  that I never would understand from reading  His word alone!!  Sadly, I cannot do this  with  Hubs in the house...  that is why I love spiritual retreats so much!!!
15. What makes you nervous?
Well, it used to be unruly  third graders  especially when  the principal was in the room observing... now, Id say, I never feel really  at peace when I'm outside alone at night..  but that is  another long story... I  probably will never tell on my blog.
16. What is your favourite flower?
Blue hydrangeas
17. Have you ever ridden on a horse or any other animal?
a pony as a child
18. What time do you go to bed?
I  go up to the bedroom around 8  and watch a bit of telly  or read, then turn out the light around  10-10:30
19. What time do you get up?
I'd love to sleep until 9( ha ha ) but I invariably wake up around 7 and can not lay abed  comfortably.. I have to get up!!!
20. Do you know how to swim?
I  almost drowned as a child of 4  and it was terrifying  so even though my mother  made me take  swim lessons every year thereafter,  I was  too scared to learn...  she finally gave up,  but  when I went to college, it was a perquisite for  graduation..like a dummy I waited until my last  semester, and  dragged myself to class.  I actually  taught myself how to float and from there I could  swim on my back,  but  never learned how to breathe..  the  exam was jump in the deep end,  come up and float 5 minutes
at the whistle - roll over and swim to the opposite end and back to the deep end and get out of the pool.  I  begging my teacher to be  merciful because everyone else knew how to swim  coming to the class..  I jumped in,  floated  rolled over  swam as far as I could on one very long breath, rolled back on my back and swam the rest of it  and back to the deep end and  climbed out of the water...  I got a D ..  but I graduated...  and I thought man..  I learned more than anyone in that  dang fingled class!
