Wednesday Medley and The Park Service

Hosted by Terri
Everything below this line comes from the National Day Calendar.

WORLD RANGER DAY – July 31

World Ranger Day - July 31

WORLD RANGER DAY

On July 31st, World Ranger Day honors the dedication, and crucial work rangers do every day around the globe.  The day offers an opportunity to show support to rangers for the services they provide. Every day, their unwavering commitment protects our national parks, wildlife, and forested heritage.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------.
1.  Is there a National Park near where you live?  Living in Virginia   we  have over  a couple of dozen National Parks.
2.  How many National Parks and which ones have you visited?  About 19 of the  National Park service locations in Virginia... including the Blue Ridge Parkway,   Appalachian Trail,  Appomattox Courthouse and Battlefield,  Lee Mansion and  the National Cemetery, Jamestown and Yorktown Colonial Parks,  and Shenandoah National Park, to name a few.
3.  The Park Rangers are protectors of the environment, of the wildlife, and visitors in the parks.  Is there someone (human) in your life who you count on as a protector or are you some one's protector?  My cousin was and is a US Park Ranger...        to whom I give much honor for his service.
My hubs and I protect each other here  at our home...
I, also, have another  cousin who serves as Park Ranger  in Yosemite!
Image may contain: one or more people, sky, outdoor and nature
4.  Have you ever had an up-close-and-personal experience with a wild animal that you can tell us about?  I have  seen of course deer of which we  have  scads of them that roam through our yard and are dining off my  rose bushes,  (BAH)   but I  perchance saw a bob cat   roaming across the ridge near my parents home in the country years ago!
5.  It is certainly an honor to show value to this profession by giving them a day of remembrance.  What is another profession that you like to see honored by a "day" of their own?
First responders  and firemen/police   day...   they often put themselves in harms way  to save lives..
6.  On this last day of July, please tell us something about your week so far.  I started the week off with  a wonderful face time chat with our daughter  that  lasted  for over an hour and we got a lot of catching up done!!!  Always a good thing! Then   I have been doing quite a bit of genealogy  the last couple of days..    found a lot that had been added to our families line over  the  last months...    found out  my line is a bit of royalty..  earls and  barons and such...   hehehe.. then we are  dining with buddies  this week,  I am  brunching with my gal pals  tomorrow..  and     still working on planning  our  time with the grands and  our daughter  who are coming in a few weeks!
These  girls have  been doing  princess ballet camp this week!!!

Tuesday Meme Designer's Choice

Hosted by Toni!

Designer's Choice (Use Photos If Possible)...

1. My home would be in the style of?

I live in the home of my dreams...  even as we are considering moving into a one floor  dwelling  I  cannot imagine living anywhere else...
Our home is considered to be a modified English Tudor..

I would love for  the Gaines to do a  redo on our front aspect...  put stucco and  decorative timber  above the brick  to  bring back the  Tudor   style.

Tudor Lite - Exterior Paint Colors - The Decorologist

Elements like this  plank door,   gentle archways,  style of fireplace,    and the thick decorative stucco walls are not  seen  from a view of the home.

2. My kind of furniture style is?

My style   is traditional with a bit of the Olde English thrown in for good measure..Here is the reading corner in our bedroom

Our recently  redone kitchen

We  soon afterward  got our new  stainless  stove

3. My floors would be covered with?
Hard wood throughout  with  Karastan area rugs in most rooms

4. My landscaping would look like?
When we bought this home  30 years ago  the write up said it  had a park-like yard...  the yard is very big almost an acre... with many trees.  We have actually  cut down over  30 trees and  planted probably 15 back.  Through the sun room window

 A  lovely tea party,

  summer greens

Autumn  explosion

Spring surprises

Some of these photos are  older than others...  I reminisced putting this together  about how  our  seasons have changed.  In 2011  both of my parents  moved into different  nursing facilities and  I just didn't have time to  decorate  as much...
then  in  since 2014,  we have  travelled  back and forth from Boston  a lot  during and prior to holidays and I just do not decorate as much anymore, but   things  are  beginning to be different now that that the girls are older...  They will be coming here  if they want to see us over the holidays.
Just for fun.. if money was no object.. well  I love  these  I have on pinterest!

Saturday 9

Come and Knock on Our Door

Hosted by Samantha!

Welcome to Saturday 9
Saturday 9: Come and Knock on Our Door (1976)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) This week's song was the theme to Three's Company, a sitcom that ran for eight seasons. Were you a fan? I did  like it very much..
2) The Three's Company theme was composed by Joe Raposo, who also wrote the theme to Sesame Street. Can you recall any of the lyrics to the Sesame Street song?Sesame Street was a little out of my time...  I was a Captain Kangaroo kid  and I was working during  SS.

3) The lyrics to this song invite you to "come and knock on our door." What's the last door you knocked on (or the most recent doorbell you rang)? I suppose it was my friend  Dottie's door.  Wow,  that was over a month ago.. I need to get out and about  visiting more!

4) Three's Company was about three roommates who live together platonically, sharing a two-bedroom apartment. Tell us about a roommate who shared your living quarters. Most recently  I was my sister in law  who lived with me for about a month..  way back in 1973.. I had returned from  Germany and  was beginning my  teaching career...  But Hubs wouldn't be home  from  his stint in the army  for  about  month later and I  was  a bit  intimidated living  alone in the apartment so Cynthia moved in with me...  It was good for both of us!  Before that  I had  roommates in college...Cynthia went to community college and never experienced a roommate.

5) Each of the roommates has a profession: Jack is a cook, Chrissy is a secretary (aka administrative assistant) and Janet is a florist. When did you last buy flowers? I bought a bouquet at  the grocery store  floral department..

6) They often meet their neighbor, Larry, at a nearby bar called The Regal Beagle. What's the name of the establishment where you most recently enjoyed an adult beverage?  I had a glass of wine  at Montanos

7) Their meddling landlord was Mr. Roper. He was cheap, nosy, and very talented at fixing things around the building. How much are you like Mr. Roper? Are you frugal? Nosy? A handy do-it-yourselfer? Mr. Roper sounds  a lot like Hubs so I dont have to be!
8) Three's Company was controversial again, more than 15 years after it ceased production. In March 2001, Nick at Nite re-edited an episode after a viewer called, alerting the network that a bit too much of John Ritter was visible in his blue boxer shorts. Have you ever called, emailed or written to, a TV station to complain?  No.

9) Random question -Is the screen on your cellphone cracked?  No. I have a protective cover over it and a good case.  Odd question!
