Two Frosty Morns

This morning we awakened to 6 inches for newly fallen snow!  Absolutely gorgeous!!
I'm the one in the family who really looks forward to snowdays...  I supppose it is the teacher in me!!!
Yaya our flag did it's job!!

Hubs   doesnt like it quite so much  as it means a bit of shoveling for him,  but he really likes  it!!

WHile he is out and about I snug into my blankie  in the sunroom,  enjoy the warmth while I    drink my russina tea and    hunker down with a good book.  Our daughter and  the family are reading through  the Narnia series and I happened to have purchased book one  last fall. I'd  read  the Lion and the Witch and the Wardrobe  years ago,   and Amanda told me I really do need to read this first in the series.. so  I'm now on chapter 9 and it is  delightfully   informative  ... I'll now have to read the Wardbook book again!!!  Oh, why not the whole series while Im at it!!

So,   this was our frosty, snowy morning,  but  I found this post about another frosty morn!
*****
With a  huge dip in the   temperature and snow on the way,   this morning was  crying out  for a  Frosty Morning  Tea  Breakfast for two.
 Even though  the  setting   reflected an icy morn,   with   frosty  hoary,   crystals  and   snowy fluffs   sprinkled  all about,   the  ancient  radiator  in the dining room   proved
trustworthy!
 Lady Earl Grey in her   lovely   blue wrapping   and her  highly  delicate   flavor  suited the occasion to a "TEA"!
TwiningsLadyGrey low.jpg
 Served in my  latest addition,   my   Wedgewood, Countryside   china cups,,   it  was  absolutely brill!
 Delicious   homemade  cranberry   oatmeal topped with  whipped cream  is now   going to become a staple in our home....
 I   was inspired  to  create these  dainty  tasties   from my latest   Tea Time magazine...
The ones in the magazine  were  not  toasted,
 however,  for  our   warm-us-up   breakfast,   toasting   was  essential!
 These   were served up  with  alternating   egg salad  and   hot buttered strawberry jam.
Fueled for the day, now   no telling  what  mischief we may achieve!!!

"Talk and tea is his specialty," said Giles. "He has Come along inside... We'll see if tea and buns   (toast) can make the world a better place."

TFT~ Winter Table

Join me with Katherine  here.

This week   I am sharing a lovely winter scape  in our dining room! I am showcasing my wonderful  dishes I found at Marshall's..  Problem is  I bought all they had and  have no idea how to get more...  There is no marking on them except they were made in England. I only buy chinaware made in Europe. So  let's  step into the dining room  to  enjoy our winter table!

I love the   colors of the  pottery.  It is  a lovely transition from Christmas to Valentine'sDay!

  This sideboard will actually take us into St. Patrick's Day!

I love the golden script on the  design!
 The composition  suits the  Irish linens.
This  really  makes me  think of  an Olde English table!

The stags with the wintry greens and flowers just seem to suit the whole theme!

I love some close ups now!

When I set  a lovely table it really  inspires me to  cook  a more interesting dinner..
I imagine a crown roast  on this table... Hubs would love that!
I  am so glad I found this linen tartan  at the consignment shop a few years ago.
I  suppose I need to write up a guest list now!
Check in with Katherine for more TFT!
 here.

Dear  God,  nothing takes you by surprise. You know everything that has transpired in the last  few years in  our nation..  I won't take your time reminding you but please  know  that our hearts are wrenching from the  knowledge that our nation  has  fallen beyond the pale into the  hands of an evil entity  that has been brewing for  a long time,  but  who has  reared its ugly head  mightily  in the last   few weeks. Deception, deception, deception!!!   You know best what is to be done,  so  we wait patiently for your help! Thank you for your peace  that passes all understanding.

Wednesday Hodge Podge

Happily Ever Hodgepodge

Hosted by Joyce.

Welcome to this week's edition of the Wednesday Hodgepodge.  Here we go-

From this Side of the Pond

1. What's something we'd find you doing most afternoons? I usually  spend time in my Secret Place  with God, by the fire,  reading,  praying,  worshiping!

2. Who do you take after? In what way(s)? I am most like my mother..  I have  strong  opinions and sometimes struggle not to    speak on them..I love the Lord passionately, I learned not to be  an introvert later in life...We were both aboout 40...I have some of her  physical  problems.

3. 'After every storm comes a rainbow' or 'the calm before the storm'...which phrase do you relate to more right now? Tell us why? I   really love   'After every storm comes a rainbow' ,    and I do believe that  about life..  trial usually does bring   blessing,  but  I also do believe  the calm before the storm'.  I sort of feel like that is where we are today!

4.What are your plans for the day after tomorrow? I have no plans.  A day like every other covid  day!

5. Complete this sentence-"After all is said and done_God is still in control"

6. Insert your own random thought here. My prayer   sista's  and I are  having a zoom prayer meeting today at 11.  This is a very   interesting time.

Tuesday 4

Hosted by Annie!

Work!

 Hello and welcome to Tuesday 4 where we honor the memory of our friend

Toni Taddeo by continuing her 4 questions each week meme!  It is wonderful

 that so many are joining in and I do hope more will come as well. Toni would

 love that.

Let's talk about work!

1. What kind of work does not bother you at all?  Well, at first glance  all I

can think is  that, wow, I've been retired since 2003 and  I can not even

imagine how I taught school for 30 years.  But I do remember  how I loved

 it, especially ,the students.  Today,  I believe house work should  be a team

 effort.  I cook, Hubs cleans up.  Hubs vacuums, I dust and mop. We  work

 together in the bedrooms,  linens  etc,and I have actually trained him to

  clean the bathrooms.  Hee hee,  But actually the strong cleaners   attack

 my allergies..

2. What kinds of work do bother you and why?  Well,  I hate  doing the

messy work, bathrooms, etc.   When I was teaching I  didn't like  all the

documentation.. It had gotten to be quite a chore to  document every

 meeting, every phone call, ,  everything actually!

3. Is there a job you've had you loathed or  perhaps one you loved?

Why was that?I loved the creativity of every job,  At home I love

decorating the house. Choosing colors and themes,  At school, I loved

 it much more when teachers had more autonomy in the classroom to

 choose how to present the information.. It became very regimented

  those last few years,, everyone had to be on the same page,saying

 the same thing, and it seemed we were actually teaching to the test

 instead of promoting thinking.

4. Do you have a job or kind of work you wish you were doing?

What would make it attractive to you?  Again, at this  time of life at

 age 70,  I am not looking for more work,but am looking for opportun-

ities to serve in God's Kingdom work.  I wrote  on another post that

  I am interested in   discipling a young mother in our neighborhood,

 once this covid business is settled. So now I just work on making friendly

  connections  outside when I see  her. I also  love to look for the open door

 in my life, and even though I am working on the Missions Committee at

 church,  I was approached by the Social Committee chairman last week to

  help with that committee as  many on her team were  unable to  involve

them selves much at this time.  This team has been doing monthly  bags

  of love and cheer  that are placed on the porches of the church members

 and active nonmembers. That kind of work is  very  worthwhile to me.

Encouraging and demonstrating the love of the Lord!

Happy Homemaker Monday

January Snowmen

Hosted by Sandra!

The weather outside::::
Partly cloudy, cold, and a bit damp!

On the breakfast plate this morning::::
Coffee, yogurt and a bowl of  cinnamon oatmeal!!

As I look outside my window::::
I wonder when the    hard winds  will arrive..  Not a day for me I think!  I'll  stay inside today!

As I look around the house::::

Christmas has been packed away, seasonal decor remains in some areas. I have begun the hateful task of sorting through books, chinaware, and clothing to take to the rescue mission.

What I'm wearing today::::
Red long sleeve tee and blue leggings.

 Currently reading::::
Ann Voskamp's book 1000 Gifts.  I started my new gratitude journal. but still have some  to read  from Ann's book!  I take it slowly to savor it!

On the TV for this week::::
Christmas  Vlogs on Youtube
I have discovered some favorite vlogs over the last week.  I love Kirsten and Jeorg, a German couple living in England ...   so charming!  And I really enjoy Talasbuan, a young family living off the grid in  the northern forests of Sweden!

On the menu this week::::

Monday - hamburgers, fries, salad
Tuesday - grilled cheese and chili
Wednesday - Stir fried  Basmati Rice with veggies
Thursday -breakfast for dinner
Friday - pizza take out

Something fun to share::::
 I am lookiing so forward to the end of this pandemic...  We have a new young couple who has moved in  very near us..  They are Chinese and  we have  approached them with the "hand"  of friendship  everytime we have seen them out walking..  They have reciprocated  as we  do in these days..They have the cutest little boy and puppy and they walk  every day  rain or shine; The Lord has put them on my  heart to  possibly disciple them,  mentor   her  as  an older woman taking a younger  woman under the wing..  This  came to me  as I was watching a great   youtube... and I challenge every  mother  and father to watch this
It will bless you..  David Barton is a renown speaker and historian...   Very timely; give it a chance...  it is wonderful!!!!!

Favorite photo from the camera::::
Our favorite new place to dine out...       Awesome in every way!

Prayers, Inspiration quotes, Devotionals::::

Wednesday Hodge Podge

Hosted by Joyce

1. When were you last a guest at an event or in someone's home? Tell us about it. Do you enjoy having guests in your own home?  One of our best friends had us over for a Christmas the
 Saturday after Christmas. There were 6 of us, the same best friends who see each other Sundays at church and went to Myrtle Beach together in October. We wear masks and socially distance.  I had those same folks over for a New Year’s dinner the next week! I love to entertain!
2. What has you 'tied up in knots' currently or recently? Well, God has given me exponential peace regarding what is going on in our world.   When I hear some of the deceptive rhetoric, it sort of drives me crazy!  Are you any good at tying actual knots?  I am pretty good about knots, actually.
3.What's something you've been wanting to do and have decided 2021 will be the year you 'take the
plunge'? Hubs and I really miss going to see our daughter’s family.   At our age we don’t want to miss seeing them grow up. Maybe this summer!
4. Something you home tha's old? Something new? Something borrowed? Something blue? I  have a  gorgeous gate leg drop leaf  table made by my grandpa in about 1920. It is solid maple and I absolutely love it! We bought a Victoria music maker, ( cd, lipblue tooth, )... it has a vintage look that suits our living room. We got it for our Christmas to each other!  Not a borrower am I!
I love my blue    transferware pottery  that I am deliberating whether to use now or the red  and just keep it going for Valentine's Day which is right around the corner!  Yes. Im going red!

Since this was a blue question,  just imagine the  dishes are blue.
5. Share a favorite quote, a verse of scripture, and/or a bit of wisdom for couples getting married in this challenging and seemingly unpredictable season we're currently/ still experiencing.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
My thoughts today are consumed with  things out of my control.   I will spend today in concerted prayer and praise  for God's  intervention!

all Tudor..
