We had a quiet day getting things on our to- do list accomplished. I have been trying to relearn working with iTunes and moving some previously loaded music on my old pc to my ipod, then several cd’s moved to iTunes then my iPod. I can play the music in my car through my iPod so I created a new playlist. Whew, this old dog has a headache from jumping through hoops!

Dear God, nothing takes you by surprise. You know everything that has transpired in the last few years in our nation.. I won't take your time reminding you but please know that our hearts are wrenching from the knowledge that our nation has fallen beyond the pale into the hands of an evil entity that has been brewing for a long time, but who has reared its ugly head mightily in the last few months. Deception, deception, deception!!! You know best what is to be done, so we wait patiently for your help! Thank you for your peace that passes all understanding.
Meanwhile, we pray that the covid vaccine is truly safe and leaves NO long lasting problems. That the roll out for it will be swift and securely given.. That those who have limited means of acquiring the vaccine will be found and help administered. I pray the the virus will run its course in due time and I speak to the virus, "do not mutate any more, in Jesus name!... Give the scientists and govenment officials wisdom beyond their usual understanding and I pray that all politization of health issues will be stopped in the name of Jesus!! God we know that without you, we are and can do nothing. Our trust in in you by the power of the name of Jesus Christ our Lord! Amen
1. "Hope springs eternal"...discuss. For me, the idiom, refers to the hope I have for heaven which includes eternal life, first in paradise. And then in our eternal home in the new earth for eternity. How is this hope born? It is the gift we are given after our repentancce and acceptance of Christ as our Savior!. He bought it for us by His blood shed at His death on the cross , which paid for the past, present and future sins of those who believe, and accept the grace filled gift of redemption!
2. Last time you needed to 'spring into action' or 'spring to someone's defense'...explain. I am one of 4 on our church Mission's Committee.. Recently, we realized we needed to reorganize our manner of operation. We collect items for both of the inner city missions we serve. We also collect items for the Guatemala church we serve and Christmas Child boxes in December. We had one area in our church that was not being used except for storage for various and sundry items that no one in the church claimed. It was the stage area behind the curtain that was actually placed about halfway back on the stage. We then had to "spring into action" to get the preparation done... We donated some items, sold some on martketplace, and threw out some.. then cleaned the area well. It actully needs a good painting, but we have to impose on the property committe for that. We purchased 4 very nice storage shelving units and actually them put together today. Now as things come in we have a place to organize and store each month until time to take items to the various ministry sites. This way we can take advantage of sales and coupons to buy as we can instead of having to wait until the items are actually needed on their monthly schedule.
3. Tulips or daffodils? baby birds or baby bunnies? The cherry tree or the dogwood tree? Jelly beans or peeps? March madness or spring training? Peas or carrots? My preferences: Tulips, baby bunnies, dogwood trees, jelly beans, March Madness, and peas!!
4. I read an article here on the South's best cities on the rise. They are-Baton Rouge Louisiana, Fayetteville Arkansas, Greenville South Carolina, Huntsville Alabama, Lexington Kentucky, Norfolk Virginia, Tulsa Oklahoma, Waco Texas, Wilmington North Carolina, and Winston-Salem North Carolina. Of the cities listed how many have you seen in person? Which one on the list would you most like to see? Have you spent much time in the southern states (USA)? Any spring road trips on your calendar? We've been to Greenville, SC, Huntsville, Al, Lexington, Ky, Norfolk, Va, Wilmington, NC, and Winston- Salem, NC. I'd like to see Waco, Texas, just because of the Gaines' . Well, I live on the edge of the southern states. I have family on Winston, and Greenville, have visited Wilmington and Norfolf a few times, and only spent one night in Huntsville when on vacation back in the 70's. We actully do have a southern road trip planned this spring.. More about that later!
5. Tell us how your outdoor space needs sprucing up this spring? Which do you enjoy more (or hate the least-ha!) yard work or house work? I am at the age where I do as little as possible to get it done! But I do like to plant flowers in the spring, in fact I hope to do a bit of flower shopping tomorrow!
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I took a few photos this week : These are the flowers you see right at our back door. I want to buy pansies to fill in
Hyacinths, dont they smell awesome!
Bloodroot, I transplanted form the woods behind my grandmother's home over 40 years ago. I, first of all, transplanted them at our other house then moved them here.
Just one site of daffodils, ... we have many other sites around the yard!
This is the only remaining forsythia we have. The others were so unshapely and yucky, hubs cut them out! He is trying to get this one to grow naturally!
I THOUGHT I WOULD START OUT WITH A FEW COMMENTS TO MY DEAR FRIENDS WHO RESPOND TO MY BLOG.. SINCE MY COMMENT THINGY JUST ISNT WORKING ..
Pamela and Luludou: I know what you mean, my Mac doesnt have a cd player either.. I really miss having one because I dont upload tunes on Itunes. A friend told me I can upload my cds on Itunes without having to pay so I am trying that today Then I could use my phone in my car.. hope it all works out!!!
Susanne: and Wendy: The water issue seems to have been taken care of.. Thank goodness. Even with the rain we are getting no new leaks!
Jean: I am so glad we have unlimited phone data because I do understand I can stream pandora in the car which will be awesome when we travel! I listen to it quite a bit here in my kitchen!
Pamela and Jodi: We are so blessed with the car. I love the way it drives and handles. Our Pathfinder was much tighter and heavier on the road which was nice as we travel on Interstae so much; and Hubs fusses just a bit because the Outback is less hefty. We do like having a bit of sheet metal around us on the interstate... But we love the new car!!! I cant believe how fast our departure date is approaching. Time is passing way too fast...
Faith and Cindy: I believe that churches that are getting more into Apologetics and how to share the gospel are really getting with the program. ( The Commission) I fear the church universal has become too touchy feeling in recent decades which relates to the drastic decline in numbers of so called Christians who have a Christian world view. When churches offer teaching, also, that takes on the moral decline in our nation it helps to promote a wake up call to people to come back to God and His Ways!
Willow: The Bandersnatch sounds so familiar, but no I havent read it and now I am most intrigued. Right now I am way behind in reading some books for my BS and our Apologetics class, but I will look into ordering the book to take on my trip! I love to read while riding. Thank you so much!
Terri: I turned 70 last summer and sometimes I can't help but think that I am now over the hill and my travelling days are coming to an end. But I must fight against that. My daughter assures me we will be going to Ireland next summer and perhaps I can get them to work in a couple of days in Scotland then when we go. Especially since we have saved so much money from this past dreadful year!
It is a fine day, we were up and out early .. I had to follow hubs to the local garage to get his car in the state inspection line. Then we drove home and have breakfast. Since that time I have been fighting off the sleepies! I laid awake a few hours last night. That has become a bit of a habit for me! It is interesting to see how many friends and acquaintances are up in the wee hours online!

We are so pleased that in the last few weeks people are returning to our small neighborhood church. And we had a new family show up yesterday. We had over 30 in attendance. We know there are a precious few older families who may never came back and we miss them dearly, but we have such an amazing church with a pastor who is the best I've ever had in 70 years. You can see social distancing is not problem... for now!

1.This week has flown by. And it has been a bit crazy, but God has been amazing.. so faithful, so loving! Last weekend, hubs so was so grateful to finally have the laundry room complete! All his hard work had paid off and he was very glad to check it off his to -do list! Then on Monday when he ventured downstairs, what should he behold, but the basement floor completely wet.. a leak in the corner.. but it hadnt rained recently, in fact we were experiencing a fire alert. So we called our plumber and it was Wednesday before he could come out and look it over. We were expecting a water line coming in from the street and he had said he'd probably have to replace the whole thing! After digging all around where the leak was suspected no clear solution was found. So after checking at the street he dsicovered it wasnt a water line after all. After careful consideration it was decided we have a new spring making itself known in our side yard.. Hopefully, after the hydrolic patch Hubs put over it, the leak will clear up and perhaps the water will divert.. who knows except God, but so far, so good! Perhaps He knows that in some way we may be needing fresh water in the future and He is demonstrating his provision now!
2. I am so thankful.. I was asked to join a new Bible Study on Wednesday mornings, but I had a regular allergy shot appointment set up for that time. I called and was able to get the time shifted a good while prior to the meeting so I can go directly from the shot to the study.. I never dreamed I would be able to get moved to such a convenient time slot! Thank you, Lord!!
I already had the book on my bookshelf, but had never gotten around to reading it! 3. We are doing a wonderful study on Sunday nights at church on Apologetics. For the past few weeks we have done quite a bit of study on C S Lewis. I absolutely love his writing, but havent read any of his work in decades. I looked high and low for his book Mere Christianity .. I know I had it, but it never turned up. So I ordered it on Amazon...
"Arguably the 20th century's most influential Christian writer, C.S. Lewis sought to explain and defend the beliefs that nearly all Christians at all times hold in common. His simple yet deeply profound classic, originally delivered as a series of radio broadcasts, is a book to be thoroughly digested by believers and generously shared with skeptics."
4. We have been talking about getting a new automobile. Our Nissan Pathfinder has been a wonderful car, so safe and relaible.. a great ride when we drive to Massachusetts. But it is such a large suv, it seats 7 and we need that capacity about 3% of the time. We can certainly do without it now at this stage of our life. SO we finally agreed we really wanted safety and reliability! And besides it was getting a bit of age on it.. It is a 2012. So we ended up going to the Subaru dealership today. We thought we might like a Forester, but it simply was too small. We do tend to need a lot of cargo space. So our attention was diverted tio the Outback which was really much larger. I fell in love with it once I drove it. Hubs can't beleive that our simple stop at the dealwrship ended up with an almost purchase. We will be back over there in the morning!
And it is white pearl! I love it! 5. I am so delighted and completely thankful for this one, too. A few years ago I pulled my very favorite cd's and put them in a carry packet that zipped around to take on trips. Well, somehow it disappeared. And I mean I looked in the car at least a half dozen times. I was on my daughter several times to please check around her house. I just couldnt believe we had ever left it at a hotel room. We always check so thoroughly. Anyway when we got home today, Lynn saw a paper under the his seat and he stooped down to see what it was , and upon further inspection out popped his hand holding my cd case. I jumped for joy, even with these decrepit knees!!!
Welcome to Tuesday 4 and new questions. We continue this meme in memory of Toni Taddeo and hope you will enjoy it enough to continue coming back.
Lets talk about Travel...
1. How far have you gone from home and where did you go? Not counting traveling to Germany to join my husband in the military where we lived together for a year after we got married, he and I traveled to Ireland 6 years ago.
2. Do you think the hassle of travel is worth the trouble?Absolutely, I love to travel, but it isn’t so easy to motivate Hubs!
3. Are there places you would like to visit or have plans for visiting? We had planned a return trip last year to Ireland with our daughter’s family, but it was cancelled. At this point I’d rather trade that trip in for parts of Britain, northern, and Scotland!
4. What trip was the best you've ever had?I think I’d have to say being on our own that first year of marriage in Germany!
I was able to get my first shot this last week, but, poor Hubs is having a hard time getting an appointment.. It seems like there should be a better way!!
I am looking forward to a good week... hopefully can get outside and clear off some garden space. I am hoping to purchase a new heirloom rose bush soon!

1. Spring is definitely in the air and it is greatly received by this country gal..!
One of the main things we are noticing is that our church which has been open for a few months now, is finally seeing some families come back. Praise God.
We had been hosting about 10-15 faithful folks every week. But the last couple of weeks we are seeing more like 25-30. Now our flock is on the small side anyway, about 60 on roll. Our pastor has worked so hard during this pandemic to keep the thrust of the Spirit moving and people encouraged. Services can be heard on youtube! Our prayers are being answered in seeing our old friends coming back in person... Thank you, Father!
2.
Hubs has been taking advantage of this season to get a job done that has been on the back burner for literally years... Painting the laundry area of our 85 year old home. The walls had never been painted. .. there was a crummy homemade shelving unit we had packed with items we thought we needed 30 years ago when we moved here, but we went through it all and purged over half of it and then tore out those horrid shelves and bought new metal ones to begin sorting through other things we had stored in the basement and really tidy up the space.. Now the area has been freshly painted , new exciting storage units, the old concrete double tub by the washing machine had been looking pretty bad for some time so we replaced it with a nice new tub and even worked on the water pressure issue we had been having. The windows now look amazing .. I will share a photo of the whole thing once it is complete. Today he is down stairs busting up the old sink so we can get it out of there. That means another trip to the transfer station. Well, he came up and told me it was finished before I finished editting!
3. While he was working down stairs I have been doing a bit of sprucing up upstairs..
Our St.Patrick's table really makes me happy... it was good to trade in some spring colors for the red that we had since December through Valentine's Day and beyond.
Our trip to Ireland inspired me in this table design. I kept thinking of the gorgeous stags we saw in Phoenix Park outside of Dublin!
4.
The mantel was the next area I worked on. I went a bit more minimal here.. using spring flowers surrounded by angels. I collected these lovely angels years ago and often forget to use them in decor, but they certainly do herald in springtime with their glorious singing and gladsome tidings!
1
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father, There is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!” Morning by morning new mercies I see; All I have needed Thy hand hath provided— “Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!
2
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest, Sun, moon and stars in their courses above, Join with all nature in manifold witness To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
3
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide; Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside! One of my all-time favorites!
5.
My granddaughters, age 5 and 7, have been enjoying their dad reading to them the Narnia Series by CS Lewis. I had read The Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe years ago, but never the whole series and they inspired me to read the series, too. At the same time as the Sprit would have it our pastor has been doing a Sunday night study of Lewis. I read many of his theological books years ago in the early days of my faith.. Now I must round up those books, ( I think my daughter has them) and reread them, especially Mere Christianity! Now the girls are on the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. and only have two books to go. I am way behind. But I do want to read them, because there are many wonderful faith discussions to be had with those girls the next we are together...
1. Is March coming in like a lion where you live? Aslan, Simba, Elsa, The Cowardly Lion...your favorite 'famous' lion? Of course, my favorite lion is Aslan... I absolutely love the tales of Narnia! Our son-in-law is reading it to our granddaughters and are into the Dawn Treader now. He has to stop regularly and give some explanation to those 5 and 7 year olds but the girls are loving it and it brings up a lot of in depth serious questions about life to them...I hink our March is coming in like Aslan with a roar of wind... all up and down the east coast. "R:::O:::A:::R!!!"
2. In what way do you 'march to the beat of your own drum'? I have pretty strong opinions in my old age... I do not think Im known for being the least bit wishy-washy in my outlook and sometimes I know I have to rein myself in... That is the drum, I suppose, I march to.. In that I am much like my mother, and as a teen, I had a very decided dislike for the trait!
3. What item that you don't have already, would you most like to own? Any chance of that happening soon? I have been wanting a recumbent bike ever since I stopped my knee therapy last spring. Covid had stopped the manufacturing of them.. I want a Schwinn ... and they are becoming available now. It is now sort of low on the list but I do need one for my knees!
4. March is National Flour Month...are you a baker? Cookies-cakes-or pies...your favorite sweet treat to bake? What's the last non-sweet thing you made that called for flour? I do have a sweet tooth for baked goods. I love to make scones, and cookies best.. I am not a pastry chef at all. I love to make quiches of various kinds.
5. There are 31 days in the month of March...where were you and what were you doing when you were 31? If you haven't hit that milestone yet, then tell us where you were and what you were doing 31 months ago? (if math is not your thing, that would be August 3, 2018)
At age 31 I had been teaching third grade for 8 years. I was becoming anxious to start a family, but we knew we would have to adopt, so ou r application was in for a local adoption, The time frame was becoming so long we were checking out other options. When I was 32 we made the decision to go for foreign adoption from Korea! 15 months later we were parents.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
This will be our view in a few weeks.. I am really looking forward to getting there~~ BtW! I got my covid shot today #1.
