I am so blessed to have found out about Intermittent Fasting. I have lost 8 pounds so far in the last ten days.. It is so wonderful because I am well into the next decade below my weight Ive carried for so long. And IF is so easy. so far! I do not wish to become complacent. But I can tell already I am training my body to not desire food during my fast time. I have been a follower of The Daily Connoisseur on YouTube and she lost 30 pounds in a year and has kept it off for months. I am doing like her... the 16/8 plan. So I get up around 8 and don't go down stairs til around 9 when I have coffee and yogurt with fruit and granola. from 9--5 is my eating time. Now tonight we're meeting friends at 6 for dinner so I do not stress out over that. I just get back on schedule tomorrow. I eat either a bit more breakfast or a salad and half sandwich usually for lunch, at noon. Like the DC I will brew a cup of tea with Stevia and have a light snack for tea time. Then eat a healthy and nice supper around 5. The kicker is no more food til 9am the next day. And I am not missing evening snacking.. I go upstairs around 8pm and get comfy and read or watch some telly in bed and I'm asleep by 10 usually. I love this system. My son-in law did IF over the time he was working at home and he has lost a lot of weight and is looking terrific!!!
Lynn has been working like a one armed paper hanger these last couple of weeks since the cooler temperatures invaded our area and he is getting so much done on the outside of the house and in the yard.. I am so thankful for him. and look at this. this morning he set these two roses by my computer saying he didn't want to see the deer get my last two buds of the season!
God bless him!!!
Last Sunday was the last Sunday at our previous church. Ive been looking on Youtube for a few to visit. Another couple who left asked us to join them at this new church, Sunday!
I do like the looks of it.. like that matters! haha But I, also, really enjoy the worship music director and his choice of music and the style suits us very well.. Modern but not heavy! I believe the rest of the evaluation must be done in person.. It is a little daunting to start over. But God is leading us in this move and He has us in His hands!
Another joyful thing about this week, is that we are meeting two very special couples for dinner tonight, at Cafe Asia.. one of our favorite restaurants.
After studying the supper menu I know I will order Orange Chicken.. UMMM! It does look tasty!
Yesterday my girl friend and I went to our Bible Study class.. we have been studying the Minor Prophets... such a timely study with all that is going on in the world!.We are finishing up this study next week with a study of Malachi..it is only 3 pages long.. and being the last book of the OT that makes it significant.. especially to what we have been studying.. the Judgement of a nation... and yes, the US is looking God's judgment right in the eye.. The church really needs to wake up. too many in the US are so lukewarm and not allowing the Holy Spirit to lead them through these treacherous times. Chronicles 7:14 has been spoken over and over , here, but we have not repented as the scripture says.. to repent is to turn and change our ways.. the church is too connected to the lusts of this world. It isn't enough to put in our time on Sunday morning, although the apostasy is so rampant, many do not do that anymore. Meanwhile, Jesus shakes his head. I really love to listen to Allen Jackson of World Outreach Church IN Tennessee.. He is leading his church, of thousands, through the power of the HS to make this crucial change and be steadfast before God.. I would encourage all believers to watch him on YouTube .. we puts up new material several times a week.
Again, I have not posted here in quite a while, but now that I am finally getting my strength back from this quarantine season.. I am in better form to celebrate here at home.. I didnt have covid, but I did have several other things that were debilitating. so it has taken me all summer to get back into the swing of things!
And Autumn is such a wonderful season to enhance the home with color and scents.. so here we go!
I love to use my Enoch Wedgewood blue transferware with autumn colors..
Of course, I lean towards English
pastoral scenes. Then I use assorted salad plates that I love to collect!!
Shakespeare obviously loved autumn:
That time of year thou mayst in me behold When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang Upon those boughs which shake against the cold, Bare ruined choirs, where late the sweet birds sang …
I love English tapestries and Jacobean fabrics as seen below!
The fleur-di-lys napkin fold in the glass below is Jacobean.
However, in the setting I have used assorted napkins to create the Fleur-di-lys fold on the 6 place settings. I think pairing patterns adds a lot of interest and flavor to the setting..... we eat with our eyes before we dine on the food!
I real
I realized I did not set the hollowware to the setting, but when I keep the setting up for a while, I rarely do use it. I, of Course, have to wash the settings prior to using the table.
I love the romantic glow that autumn colors create in the house. So warm and comforting. John Keats also wrote about Autumn:
Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,...
It is fun to decorate with swollen gourds, so rich in color and beautiful forms.. We can really appreciate the Creation of our. El Elyon, God of Heaven and Earth!
Christina Rosetti penned this sonnet to Autumn!
Go from me, summer friends, and tarry not: I am no summer friend, but wintry cold, A silly sheep benighted from the fold, A sluggard with a thorn-choked garden plot. Take counsel, sever from my lot your lot, Dwell in your pleasant places, hoard your gold; Lest you with me should shiver on the wold, Athirst and hungering on a barren spot…
Oh, to me, the barrenness of the days to come are just another
wondrous landscape from the brush of the Master's hand!
Hosted by Amber of Follow the Yellow Brick Road.. Unfortunately, but hopefully, Amber is recuperating from Covid and didn't get a link up today. Please pray for her uncomplicated recovery!
It has been quite a while since I shared on TFT. At this season of my life I was just thinking of how my favorite things have changed. Because I have lost a couple of sizes in my clothing, one of my favorite things is replenishing my wardrobe. At age 65+ I am finding that I don't want to look frumpy and old neither in my clothes or my personal look.
In my hair cuts I refuse to go with the granny perms that were so prevalent in my family! Yikes!
I have although embraced my grey and I am loving how it is blended with my natural blond tones which now look much lighter and I get lots of compliments on the color! So that is a big savings every 6 weeks..
I have no curl, just a slight wave, and little volume so I depend on good cuts to give me a style.
I sometimes ask for the cut to give me a flip up or a slight page boy, otherwise the cut is super simple because I am not going to spend hours getting it to look a certain way, it is what it is. I am a very low maintenance gal! But I haven't colored my hair now in three years and there is no line of demarcation or anything. It is just blending in for which I am thankful!
I am very excited about my new makeup .. I wanted it for a long time, after seeing in on YouTube so much.. But I now I am a Boom gal!
This is so fast and easy .. I can put it on in the car while I wait for Lynn to lock up the house!!!
It just gives my old, dull skin some radiance!
I have three clothiers that I go to these days for style, quality and and good value. First of all, Soft Surroundings.
.
Cute, stylish, and almost always has a great sale going on!
I love tunics for various reasons.. I just love the look as well!!!
Hubs wonders, I'm sure, what has come over me because I am always looking for sales in one of these catalogues, and I order something every week it seems, but there again I am purging my regular wardrobe every eek. I refuse to go through life wearing gold clothing what is very loose on me.. I want to look as good as I can in this season of life!
Oh, and one thing I ordered and got a couple of weeks ago, is from the Irish Store. I am so thrilled that I was able to find a gorgeous sweater in my size and at a good price point!! (75.00)
I love the cosiness of this .. in a rich loden green, and the wonderful thickness of this sweater will see me through whatever winter wants to throw at me. As I have gotten older, I just do not retain warmth like I used to. and I love a cosy sweater. .. getting this one was a dream come true!!!
Tuesday - Grilled ham and cheese sandwiches with a salad
Wednesday - Not sure
Thursday-dinner out with friends.. Chinese!
Friday - air fried cod with potato wedge and slaw
On my reading pile . . .
I am enjoying the Debbie Macomber book, White Lace and Promises
Something fun to share . . .
I am quasi following Jennifer Scott's, plan on Intermittent fasting .
I have lost 10 pounds in about 10 days.. I highly recommend!
It is just so easy!
Date Night::
I suppose this weekend Lynn and I have experienced date nights: we very rarely sit and watch the same thing on tv. But we really enjoyed the Ryder Cup golf tournament where teams from the USA and Europe square off hole by hole to see who plays best and right off the bat the USA took the lead and carried it to the end. I like several of the European players so I was cheering them on, but it was soon realized they had no chance.. so I kept cheering that the differece in score wouldn't be so embarrassing. Odd thing the European team usually beats our socks off.. This was the first time in over a decade the USA had won. YAY, USA! But it was a great way to spend our evenings together!.And we enjoyed hearing the grand cheers for the USA. So cheering for our nation isn't dead after all. Very cheap date!!
In the Garden . . .
The heavy rains came and left the yard in dire need for a clean up. I purchased some winter pansy and do need to get out tomorrow clear off a bed and get them planted. They will keep me cheered during the coming change in themweather!
Camera. . .
I took a few photos around the house..first of all our den... I still note the space I have created by purging this summer!
The gallery wall came about because of the purging.. I like the art on the wall better than sitting around the house!!
Im not sure I ever shared the painting I did at a Bob Ross Workshop. I highly recommend these day long classes.. Very fun!!
I love this photo I took from the den into the kitchen.. There is my favorite lil man of the house.. I do not know why his face was so distorted... he really is a cutie!
With limited wall space I have learned to take advantage of every nook and cranny!
Prayer:. . .
Crisis in Afghanistan and the Middle East, influx of illegals into
our nation, crisis in Haiti, and everywhere that persecution is taking
place...
Pray forthe upcoming elections... Pray for godly leaders who really care about
their constituents and govern fairly and according to our Constitution! Our government leaders to seek God, and for the fear of the
Lord to spread among all people.
For healing of the sick, salvation of the lost, deliverance for
the hurting, Personal: situations, Prodigal children to return
to their roots and be spiritually healed, Churches to arise,
against ungodly moves of government to infringe on godly practices
... protect our children from the ungodly teachings and protect them
from ungodly people who wish them harm for their own purposes.
Pray for organizations that are doing good in the communities,
CrisisPregnancy Centers, Straight Street, Street Ransome,
Salvation Army, Rescue Missions, etc! Starting next week
I am focusing much more on the upcoming elections.
1) When she's feeling low, Taylor Swift compares herself to an old cardigan, forgotten under the bed. Do you store anything under your bed? Or do you try to keep that area clear (except for dust bunnies)?
Except for those ever ready bunnies, it is clear under our beds!
2) The lyrics begin with a reference to a new phone. Do you foresee yourself getting a new phone before 2021 ends? Or are you happy with the one you've got?No new phone for us.. We were just saying we aren't too trustful of 5g so until our phone kinks out we are happy! 3) She sings that her lover haunts all of her "what if's." Have you recently wondered, "what if?" What were you musing about? It is like my age has really slipped up on me during covid.. We missed our chance to go to Ireland last summer, and I wonder, "what if" we don't get to go next next.. there are no guarantees it seems anymore.. well, except for my age but it is better bah the alternative! But what if we ever do get to go wh\eill I be able to make it.. I'm telling you, you get old sooner than you think...... before you know it, bammo, you're 71!!!!
4) Taylor Swift admits that she rewinds after concerts by watching Friends reruns. What do you do to relax? I love to browse YouTube. so much great stuff to view.. sort of mindlessly..... yet, there is a lot of good information there as well. I also love the preaching.. We absolutely love Allen Jackson, pastor or World Outreach in Tennessee. I would love to visit his church. It seems folks from all over the country do visit every week. He really speaks to what is going on in our world today.. and how we need to be preparing for what may be on the horizon.
5) Thinking of TV shows, Taylor appeared on a 2009 episode of CSI. That series was about crime-scene investigators who use forensics to solve murders. Do you enjoy crime shows? Not at all.
6) Taylor grew up on an 11-acre tree farm where she learned to ride. Her mother was a horsewoman and hoped riding was a passion they could share. When she was 12, Taylor admitted to her mother that she really wasn't that into it and wished she could spend more time on her music. Her mother was supportive. Tell us about a tough conversation you've had that turned out well. I don't about you, but it seems that difficult covid conversations come up around me. We got our vaccinations, but I have many friends who didn't and that was purely their choice. But don't denigrate me for getting mine. I actually had one such discussion around the dinner table a month ago that led to a real problem between myself and a good friend. She said some things that were not very nice and I must admit I said a couple of things for which I have since apologized for, twice.... but she still isn't satisfied and said she needed time to get her thoughts together. She has not apologized to me and she said a couple of really bad, off the wall things to me. It has been a month, and I just don't know how to proceed now! I do see her at church but most times when she sees me she turns the other way. Sad, I thought we were better than this..
7) She enjoys good, old-fashioned mysteries, especially those by Agatha Christie. Are you currently reading a book? I am reading a White Lace and Promises by Debbie Macomber. It is pretty good..
8) In 2020, the year this song was released, Jeopardy host Alex Trebek died. The search for a new host has caused interest and even controversy. Would you enjoy the job? No way, too many words I couldn't pronounce!!
9) Random question: Of Superman's three superpowers -- tremendous strength, the ability to fly, and x-ray vision -- which would you choose?
I would love to have tremendous strength and the ability to fly! In my dreams I fly so easily. I just lift up and soar. It is just a part of who I am. I mean why not take two..
Hosted by Susanne. Today I am writing about the many blessings I have had this week. Even as things appear to be spiraling out of control, my comfort is and always shall be my strong tower, the Lord Jehovah. He knows everything and is working all things for our good, therefore, we shall not fear. That is without doubt my most precious blessing.
This is definitely a season of medical visits. I passed through Monday’s visit very well. My next visit is in early October when I have a glaucoma correction by laser. Yikes.. I do dread that one. Then immediately , the next day, I will have my mammogram. I am so thankful to live in an age when we have procedures that can correct glaucoma and tests that give us assurance of good health.
We have gotten quite a lot of rain in the last few days and yesterday it came in torrents. so I went out to the rose garden and cut a few blooms thinking they wouldn't last through the storms!
The beautiful bud is my pink climbing rose.. I do hope it will open!
Today we are using our 30% off coupon at Kohl's to purchase the Ninja 5 in 1 Air fryer, baker, roaster, grill, dehydrated.
I am super excited!
We stopped at the Country Store this morning and I purchased some pumpkins, mums, and winter pansies for our garden and porches.. Once I get them established I will post some photos!! It is difficult to pass through the flag display without wanting to purchase yet another one. Surely I have several stored away .. I will choose one to put out to add to my images later!
A couple of photos!
Our fall flag... needs a bit of breeze!
You can barely see the new mums.. Gold and orangy pink!
