My Snowy Project... Just for Fun!

We didn't get but  skiff of snow but  we still have  right much snow from 2 weeks ago lying about. The wind and temperature are  very  wintry  so I decided to do my valentine  project.  I had  copied and cut out some  vintage valentines from online and decided to  glue them onto card stock,  then cut them out again and create a stand to stand them up!  So cute and nothing to it!!

If I had enough cardboard I would have  cut out a wreath   and  attached the    valentines with paper hearts  around it and hung  it somewhere.  SO cute!   But instead, I did this!

Just a very simple  but fun valentine  decoration!!

Comments _ I have tried commenting and I cannot even get one to go.. I wish I knew what else to do!!

Replies to  some of  my sweet comments:

Linda,   I was surprised and pleased that starting Feb 1  the Uk is  opening some restrictions  on travel..  they re not requiring  fully vaccinated tourists to  show a passed covid test at entry.   And I guess this also means we wouldn't have to take a covid test upon  entry and quarantine a day as well which would be nice no to waste a day of the trip. The Uk has always been quite strong on their restriction and we can only pray that if God wants us   visit Scotland  He will make a way.. He chose not to make a way for us to go to Ireland 2 years ago  and we lost quite a bit of money on our flights.. Our only hope is that  our daughter and son in law will travel  within 2 years to use the flight voucher and  then pay us back We cannot use the voucher  this time because we are not fling same airlines  We actually saved a 1000 dollars on each ticket by flying Iceland air with a bit of a layover in Iceland  which is pretty cool!    NO pun   intended!  .. They may be planning to go to Germany  soon for a wedding  of a friend.    But so far  for our trip this summer things are getting better.

Willow,  At my last talk with my endo doctor  he  told me  things looked so good on the cat scan that  surgery at this time was not warranted.  If I were to see my surgeon and he were to say  that I now qualify   for  a laparoscopic surgery  I would jump at the chance .. take it while  the  getting was good  because  since my g b has been compromised there is no guarantee it will  stay healthy  for the long  time!  A surgery with  a diseased GB for me would be very risky  becasue of the huge  incision not only  across my body and up and down to connect my large intestine to the liver or some such thing they were telling me  before Christmas. We all agreed  to try to anything we could to save my g b.  to tell the truth I do not understand why this time I wouldn't qualify for laparoscopic surgery.  But anyway,  I take things one day t a time.

Lisa, I heard on the news last night about the shortage of oranges  in Florida due to   a blight on the trees.  that OJ would  go way up.  We went to Krogers this morning and bought a bottle of their juice which is  made from Mexican and Brazilian oranges,  but I am sure there could be a shortage of all brands   if this  is the case.   I suppose the Bible  relates that these thing  will happen and to be prepared.  We live in a very  different world than we did even 2 years ago.    All we can do is lean on the Lord for His provision and help!

Ellen, I am so happy  when I see a comment from you...  I have followed the Happy Wanderer  for  so many years and  loved your travel  posts so much..  Finally, I am   able to    actually  do a  trip with our family  that means so much to us  and  I just pray we actually get to go this time.  The plans  are working out so well,  I feel like God is in the detains this time!    I love your  trip across  the  midwest and west..  to  photos of the landscape and the  way of life..  They speak volumes  about  the wholesomeness of  the state and the simple  way of life.So  enjoyable!

Louloudou,  I have finally made my decision on the paint colors.. I am going with the  palest   blue I can find.. I was sitting in the living room with my swatches and realized pale is the only way to go.  So see. You and I    both know best.. we agree PALE!!!

This Side of the Pond

Click the icon to return to Joyce's page!

1. January 25th is National Opposites Day. 'They' say opposites

attract...do you agree, and if so is that a good thing? Or do

you subscribe more to a 'birds of a feather' philosophy? I ascribe to

opposites attract for sure,  Hubs and I are definitely opposite  He is left brained and I am right. He is fussy about everything and I am  satisfied with if it looks ok. He is not too adventurous and happy to stay home,  If it weren't for me we'd never go anywhere or do anything!  I think  we were meant to be together!

2. Something you're glad to have behind you? Something you're

glad is ahead of you? I am so glad to have  my  gall bladder

ordeal behind me,  and my Scotland trip ahead of me!

3. Your favorite hot food? Chinese, Cold food? Chicken salad,

Are you a fan of breakfast for dinner? Breakfast is a favorite

meal so yeah, bring it on  anytime of the day or night!

4. Are you someone who always arrives to appointments

/events early or do you tend to run late? I am always early

or on time. Last thing you were late for? I truly cant think of a

time!

5. "What good is the warmth of summer without the cold

of winter to give it sweetness?" John Steinbeck....Your

thoughts? Well, I  actually despise the  warmth of summer if

it is a prolonged heat wave with humidity, so I long for the respite

of cool weather, I even like the cold of winter to offset the arid

days of August. I enjoy spring and autumn best!

6. Insert your own random thought here. I think the very best

thing about our  hoped for trip to Scotland is that we are

going with our daughter's family and the grand girls. I, so, look for-

ward to seeing them  explore castles, and  enjoy the trad music in a pub,

or the  highland dancing at the games. To enjoy  these firsts, because

living so far apart we missed  their firsts growing up!!

Tuesday 4 Music

Tuesday 4

Music Music Music!

Welcome friends! This week let's talk about music and entertainment shall we?

Hosted by Annie!

1. What kind of music do you like the best? I am a lover of so many kinds of music..

it is almost easier to list what I don't like, like country,  heavy metal, rap.. But I love

classical, smooth jazz,  Goldie Oldies from my generation,   Christian ,  and  much of the

New Age dreamy type music  that is so easy to listen to  while reading or relaxing!

2. Does the radio play in your car and, if so, what station or kind of music

plays? Yes,  because I am always with my husband it most usually plays  Goldie

oldies and we love to sing along!

Does music play in your home often?  Most of the time.  I love to tune in to

one of the many stations I have  from Pandora..

3. What do you think of the music played in restaurants or stores? I  loved the

elevator music we used to hear,  music much like what my parents played so

much at our house, Montevani, 1001 Strings,   I  rather miss  that music  it was

so much of  I heard growing up. Now  many of the restaurants we frequent play

Oldie Goldie music because we frequent restaurants that serve good ole comfort

food along with the  aging crowd. But I, also, love to  go to  upscale restaurants

where the piano player  plays nonstop  cool, smooth jazz.!

Do you find it relaxing or annoying? Unless it is rap or country, I find music

relaxing.

4. What part has music played in your life?My mother made sure I had piano

lessons  from first to senior year , and she also made sure we had  beautiful

music playing at home all the time... and a lot of it was classical and movie themes.

What kind of music played at your wedding or at parties you have been to?

We hired  the pianist from  a nearby church whom we knew  was quite talented

in playing   all kinds of music, and  I went out and bought the music books re-

quired that he didn't have, or sheet music to   mainly  standard love songs

from  my parents generation to  ours.  I loved the Carpenters and   had Close

to You,  and  We've Only Just Begun, -one sung at the wedding, and one sung

at the reception.  Since I was married in 1972, they were  a resounding hit at that

time!  Top Forty  hits were always played at parties  in high school, but  in college

it became a bit heavier. I loved the Moody Blues, and  Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd,

Jackson Browne, and the Eagles,  but in the dorm,  I loved the lady singers,

Carly Simon, Grace Slick,. Joni Mitchell, and Judy Collins.

Happy Homemaker Monday

Friday  overcast, 41

Saturday, partly cloudy ,29

Sunday, partly  cloudy, 39

I am glad it will be clear and a rather normal January week this week.  We do have some places we need to be!

On my mind
Truthfully, my mind has been pretty much consumed the last few days on the summer plan we are making with our daughter’s family to go to Scotland. The kids sprang this on us over Christmas.  We are so thrilled to be going together on this trip and the planning is so much fun. For example we just learned of a highland games being held on the second to last day of our trip  very near Glasgow where we will need to be at that time so that will truly be a highlight of our trip!

On the breakfast plate
 Coffee, and  Yogurt
On my reading pile
Exodus chapter 4:  I have a couple of shelves of one of my favorite authors time travel books.n. Lynn Kurland writes the most exciting and engaging historical romance books.  The series of her’s I enjoy the most are the medieval books about the McLeon clan from the Isle of Skye. I think I will pull those out for a reread  and may even share them with Amanda.

On my tv
I am missing the Hallmark Christmas movies, but I am finding mor3 time to do other things. But I did rediscover hgtv network again. I enjoy watching YouTube gardening vlogs with P.Allen Smith.

Interesting youtube vlog I saw this week:

Allen Smith’s farm in Arkansas is absolutely amazing!

Looking around the house
Everything is still looking  wintry  and even a couple of  Christmassy  things still  around  but I love it!! I look out the window and  the snow continues to  lie  there  for  over a week..  due to the cold...  so why not enjoy winter..  sit by the fire, listen to some  relaxing music and drip cups of tea, and even bake something  wonderful to serve  along side that tea!

On my to-do list
  • Devotions and Bible reading
  • Go to my doctor’s appointment
  • (My wonderful doctor called to tell me I didn't need to come in.  my report of my scan was so good , that  having  the g b out at this time  was  not necessary and  this will be my last endoscopy coming up next week!)  The goal  was always to try not to  have to have the gall bladder  out,.  Goal achieved!
  • Get my hair cut
  • Allergy shot
  • Bible study class
To relax I will:
Listen to music, Bible Study, vlogs, work on my Christian planner..  create  some  lovely vignettes for scripture  on  the pages

Prayer and devotional :

Our government leaders to seek God, and for the fear of the Lord to spread  among all people.  Thank you Lord for the shift in our state government.  Lead  them to  make godly solutions for the people!
Prayer about the influx of illegals into our nation, and the possible spread of disease and covid.. Father, we rebuke the spread of covid and its attaching deviants.. We say no more and we also pray that these diseases will calm down and that they will not be so disruptive to the body. that our bodies will fight them off effectively and without devastating consequences.. we say enough to covid! In Jesus name!!

We pray for the places everywhere that persecution is taking place...
For healing of the sick,
salvation of the lost,
deliverance for the hurting,
the supply, food, and building shortage problem: may it not become
a huge crisis
Churches to arise and pastors to preach according to our times and
these days.. very vital! For the churches to repent and get straight
before a holy God. We have become too lax in our Christianity and
we need to be more persistent to seeking God and His Word!
Protect our children from the ungodly teachings and protect them
from ungodly people who wish them harm for their own purposes.
Especially for people to turn or return to God. Only He can
save.. There is no other way to God except through the shed blood
of  His Son!

Friday Fave Five

Hosted by Susanne

On the 7 th day since it snowed!

I love snow but I  have learned from the error of my ways.. at our age, I really cannot enjoy snow days like I did when I was teaching we did get 8-10 inches of super powdery snow , and that following day I told Lynn to let the sunny day help it get going, as you could tell it was actually settling not starting to melt,  and it created a icy layer on top. Well, by the second day, our driveway was pretty difficult to shovel.  I felt very guilty, but Lynn persevered and got it done. The worse part was the ridge of snowy ice the plow had pushed on the street and partially blocked our drive.   I kept wishing a band of young men, teens, would come by offering to help a 72 year old shoveler, but I do not think they exist any more.

Well, Lynn wouldn’t see reason and went ahead and shoveled our pretty long front walk! I can not tell you how many times I stood at the door praying God’s blessing on him. And feeling guilty for enjoying all that snow come down.  Times have changed for us,  we aren’t the same people we were 20 years ago when snow days were welcome  and prayed for.   But, God is  still in His heaven and He supplied Lynn with the knowledge he needed to take breaks when needed, and the strength to take care of business.  God is so faithful and we are learning that we can rely on His goodness and mercy in all things!

I have so much for which to be thankful.  I have to say in my flesh, I am very tired of this gall bladder ordeal that started back in mid October.

I was horribly ill  for a couple of weeks, and went to the Urgert Care twice, but they were treating me in error, based on their best information.  In truth I had pancreatitis from a huge ping pong ball sized stone blocking a duct. But I never exhibited gall bladder trouble, per se. .  No attacks as is the usual  onset. When I went to the emergency room I was jaundiced and very sick.  Photo taken end of October in triage.

Okay, guys I never thought I’d share this and if anyone asks about It I will unequivocally deny any knowledge about it.  But after a cat scan showing a large mass , I had every oncologist on call that night stop in my triage room to tell me I had pancreatic cancer.   One at a time.  But I absolutely would not receive that and told them unequivocally that I did not, that Satan had been after me all year and he will not win.  I do not have cancer.  Satan wants to take me out because I am a prayer warrior and I have his minions on the run.

Well, I’ve had 84,000 dollars worth of tests and 3 endoscopies since this with a wonderful doctor who has unequivocally told me I do not have cancer, he has done everything in his power and opportunity to prove this to that team of specialists, but they apparently demanded this last cat scan now that the stone is finally gone, and truth to tell. I am cancer free! Praise God for good insurance!

I am feeling so much better and was able to go to Boston in November for two weeks to celebrate with our daughters family, and was able to celebrate a wonderful Christmas here at home even entertaining my charcuterie dinner party knowing that the end of January I would continue the quest for hopefully finalizing this journey I’ve been on.so the c scan is over, next week, I see my doctor, and following soon I will have what I pray will be my last endoscopy to remove stents, so,  thereafter the only thing on the table is the question about my gall bladder.  I’m praying it is so good the doctors will agree no surgery! Again, God has been so very good to me.  He has brought me through each step of this long process and I think it is all for my good …to teach me more about Him,, maybe for a new purpose in my life.  I only know , I love my Lord and am ever willing to be led by His Spirit into whatever  assignment He has for me! praise His holy name!

I am so thankful for leftovers.  Last weekend I did a lot of really great cooking. It was as if something came over me that I hadn’t felt in a long time and I cooked a wonderful dish for every meal.  Maybe it was the snowfall, but I made a delicious soup, a fantastical Chinese chicken stir fry and rice,  a fabulous pan seared steak, baked potato, salad dinner.   Well, because we haven’t done that much this week, and at our age we just do not eat like we used to, we have lived off of those delicious leftovers all week. Tonight is the first time I have to cook again and I’m sure we will have left overs again.  I’m making homemade tacos with all the trimmings.

On the world stage…I am so thankful for what is happening with Roe vs. Wade..as a prayer warrior in prayer groups for many years we have prayed about this atrocity that has twisted our culture into a culture of death..  It has affected crime, health, well, everything related to life because of the groundswell of evil that abortion opened the door to for our nation.  I am  only expressing my right of free speech here but it is sprinkled with the truth of heaven as I know that we cannot kill over 2000 children ever day and not have God’s hand lifted off of our nation.  But praise God truth is finally streaming throughout the land. Young people have taken the gauntlet and were in huge numbers at the March for Life rally today.  Judges are coming around realizing how much more technology we have today than in the 60’s when people actually thought abortion was ridding the body of an unwanted mass.  Today in just a few weeks of gestation, we know the child is formed and fully able to feel what happens during abortions.   We have good reason to believe judges will be ruling to dismiss Roe vs, Wade and turning the matter over to the states which it’s a giant step toward godliness in our nation.

And for #  5.  I am just full of  thanksgiving today!  It is a day when everywhere I look .I see God’s Hand supporting me and extending grace and supply for all our needs.  Praising God the king of the Universe!  The photo taken in Boston the week of Thanksgiving.

Wednesday Hodge Podge

From this Side of the Pond

Hosted by Joyce!

1. It's National Popcorn Day-my favorite! Are you a fan?I am a fan

and I love it  salty,   or  sweet like  Cracker Jack. Sweet or salty?

A good or great movie you've seen recently (at home or in a theater, either one)?   Gee, we just don't go to movies  anymore..  too expen-

sive,  but I did see a great movie on Youtube over Christmas  with  James Garner and  Julie Andrews. One Special Night!  It was a

really good..  They have  great chemistry!

2. What's something you didn't realize was going to take so much

of your time as an adult? Ironing,  praise God Lynn took it over

from me.    He is  really  picky about  his shirts.

3. Your favorite yellow something? I love yellow flowers,  but

Ive also  really loved little girls  yellow slickers and yellow rain

boots.  I bought myself a yellow slicker to take with me to Scot-

land.  YAYA!

4. Why do you write? I find writing so relaxing.  I think  some-

times I  am more  fluent and  have more to say  when I am writing.

I loved teaching writing to my students and  even they, when I

retired, told me to  find a way to keep writing .  So I started blog-

ging.

5. Share a favorite memory associated with snow.  Being an

only child  when I played in the snow  it was pretty lackluster.

I would most of the time trudge around through the yard  pre-

tending I was on a long trek through the wilderness.  But one

season my cousins from NC  were visiting  when a great snow

came and   we all went out and made a snowman family together

even the parents. I  cant find the photo  but it was so cute and

vintage 1960!

6.Today I have my c-scan and I am just in the middle of  drink-

ing the    contrast.. not exactly the worst thing Ive ever thought

about drinking  but  it gets pretty bad  down to that last  gulp.

In 18 minutes I drink the second half of the bottle!  ðŸ˜ŸðŸ˜Ÿ Then 45

minutes following that  we leave. I will be glad when this  part

is over..   Should be all done by noon..   To reward myself  we

are stopping at Lowes to  see about getting some paper white

bulbs to plant..  That's all folks!

NOte::   Report.. can't believe the report from the scan beat me home.

Main thing first. NO malignancies   Praising  the Lord!!

Everything else looked  pretty good. I will be seeing my  endo doctor next week  prior to my next endoscopy Feb 2   and I am still praying if they have to  take out the GB  may it be laparascopically

I didn't feel that great  coming home from the    scan so Lynn dropped me off and went on to the grocery stores. It took 3 stores for him to find such regular stuff as o  j  and distilled water   for the  humidifier.  Goodness!! So no paper whites yet.  I do hope to  be able to  plant some bulbs soon.

More Rooms to Paint

I discussed  the dilemma regarding paint choices for the living and

dining room.  But that is not  the entire story! We plan to paint the

entire  downstairs (except the bath, which was recently  redone).

The library and kitchen are also on the  plan!

In the library,  there is a bookcase and window seat across one wall,

the walls are painted a deep red.

The kitchen was redone in 2015   and was painted this same color..

The cabinets a putty color..

the granite is a white with black and putty and an occasional deep

red  fleck.  So finding a color  to paint the walls  will depend mainly

on coordinating with the cabinets.  I do want it to  also coordinate

with the  rest of this floor.  but I am thinking a deeper  tone of  a

blue green  color.. I have some thing in mind.  Of course, the

border will be gone!  So old school as  Amanda will say!  I loved

 that border!

Heehee, I am actually thinking of paint  that is almost  dead ringer

for the  text in this  post!

I have actually loved

Aegean Teal since last year, but it is  Benjamin Moore...  I'll have to see if

I can find it in Behr.....  NO matter what,  upon reflection sitting here

in the kitchen looking at this color, it  would not go at all.  But I do

think it would be perfect on the bookcases in the library!  BTW,  the

sofa in the library will be  moved, even if we have to  chop it up  to get it

out of there.  Really,  we did have to  take the door off the hinge to get it

in.  I detest this  big ole sofa!

Thank you, to Sandi,  Dandelion Tea for sharing    a paint she got from Behr..

 Oarsman Blue

I like this  and  it  might be a good    Behr Paint to choose for the  shelves in the library.

.Oarsman Blue S450-5 | Behr Paint Colors

The paint is always lighter on the wall  than the  paint sample.   I think this would look nice on the shelves.  Thanks, Sandi!

When Lynn painted our new cabinets  he told me   that was it..   So I must  be happy with  this color..  and I am.

So I am thinking  the above  Pale Oak would look  good on the walls.. now I need to find that shade in Behr.

Sandi....So good  to know.  I want to look into that one coat type of Behr.   Covering that red will be challenging..

Tuesday 4

Where Do You Want to Go?

Welcome to Tuesday 4 kept up in memory of Toni Taddeo. Another Tuesday and a little list of questions.

Hosted by Annie!

Where would you go? Where do you want to go?

1. Is the farm for you? How about a ranch, a village or a city? Which is your choice and why?  When we travel to Massachusetts to see our family, I love to stay at  The Inn at Westwynd Farm in Hershey, Pa.

It is a beautiful horse farm.  I love being out in the country. The quiet is such a pleasant respite after busy hectic

town life. Now that I only have memories of being on grand-

pa’s or going to the country to see mom and dad, I choose any

opportunity to be in the country.

2. A short auto trip for the weekend with friends or a long vacation? Where would you go?I love to go on trips with friends.  Sometimes

we go to Cherry Grove Beach, north of Myrtle Beach with our best

friends. They own a condo there and go often to keep things up and

going.  Sometimes we rent a place in their same complex and it is

great fun!   I love that particular location .. right on the point of

Cherry Grove.

3. The quiet life at home with a cuppa and TV or  a good book or a

night out with friends? Which sounds good today?well, with our

cars still snowed in, I guess that cuppa  and tv takes the prize.

Poor Lynn has to shovel the cars out today, hopefully the sunshine

 will help a lot!

4. You have a choice of  dinner and a movie or a game of cards and

snacks at the neighbors. Where are you going tonight?  I would

love to play cards with snacks with friends.  My parents had be-

loved friends with whom they would play canasta, or Pay the Man,

every weekend, taking turns at each other’s house.  They loved it

and sometimes we joined in! Those were the good ole days.  Lynn

h movies either.  He is sports all the way, which is a drag.  But in

a perfect world, I would invite friends over and play cards.

Streetwise, Watery, Misty Morn, IN the Moment. HELP!!!

I am going to share  what  I  think about all the time.  I don't know if you noticed over the holidays on Hallmark movies    the   rooms in the movies were  so  beautifully decorated,  but what drew my attention was   the  paint on the walls.  I fell in love with that  pale  blue and blue-green  color  with the soft white trim .  All of my favorite   movies had  that color going on.. I found this one on line to  show what I mean!!

Wait Until You See This Neutral & Twinkling Christmas Home Tour - Heather Krout

now without fail these rooms in those movies were always trimmed in white,,  white shutters,  white fireplace surround  etc.  ok

We are painting our downstairs  this winter.  but I cannot paint my fireplace .  the gum wood is just too beautiful to paint. plus  it is very ornate   it would be a pain to paint. Everyone says do not paint it.

I do think a really good cleaning would be  necessary, though!   So I want a color that will look  wonderful with natural wood!

So now comes the tricky part. paint colors look so different in different light. I am anxious to get rid of that   golden cream that has been there for a couple of decades.  Yikes.  It was really good paint!  ha!   Hubs said only look at Behr Paint.. his favorite so I have!

I really love the luxurious look of this paint called Streetwise. it really looks  yummy in the dim light,   but in the morning it looks like this
Minty toothpaste!  Whaaaa!!

Now when you look at the swatch for streetwise  this is what it is

I really liked how  the  first photo looked with natural wood  but   bleh,    the morning color is just not it!

So this color is watery.. and I do like it  but it has gotten  a bit away from the very pale color  that originally got me set on painting !

Do you see my problem.   too many  that are  just  a pinch  different   that are driving me CRAZY!

And then there is In the moment

but what if that isn't the moment Im looking for,  really!
I mean   whaaa!

so I revert to  barely blueish..

There are three I like when I visualize online which I cannot add here.  but they are

Misty Morn

Permafrost

waterfall

and streetwise  as seen above..  so there is my dilemma.. How do I choose!

ALL THE WHILE  HUBS KEEPS SAYING  BUT ISNT THAT THE COLOR OF OUR BEDROOM..  OR  ISN'T THAT A BATHROOM COLOR!  WHAAAA!

I would love your comments!

Farewell

After  17 years of   blogging  I am  pretty sad to  just fade  out  with  hardly  anyone showing any   farewell,  concern  about my  surger...
