                                                        πŸ’šπŸ’šOn my mindπŸ’šπŸ’š
I am hoping to hear from the dermatologist today or tomorrow.  It has been two weeks and if I need MohS surgery, I’d like to know how to plan!

πŸ’šπŸ’šHow I am feelingπŸ’šπŸ’š
I am pretty excited that I got along very well in Williamsburg.  I was able to walk as much as I wanted to.  I did not stroll all the way down Duke of Gloucester street, but I strolled a bit around the retail area. We enjoyed the Scottish store, but whoa, the prices were very much elevated since last time.  Last time I purchased a gorgeous wool tartan cape in my pattern, Lindsay, this time a scarf cost as much.  We did not spend anything there. On Saturday I really wanted to dine at one of the taverns, but Chownings had no dedicated parking lot.  It was a bit if a trek from a parking lot off the historic area to the tavern.  But I made it fairly simply, much to my dismay to find out we were told to come back in 2 hours because of the large crowds. With the horrific winds we decided to just find a nice restaurant for dinner.  But I was pretty excited that my walking has improved!

πŸ’šπŸ’šOn the breakfast plateπŸ’šπŸ’š
Coffee, fruited yogurt and a  powder donut.

πŸ’šπŸ’šOn my reading pileπŸ’šπŸ’š

We are studying  the book of Exodus in Church, The Core Group is  studying Ephesians, which I love!!!  I am taking a Hermeneutics class on how to study the Bible! Lynn and I are doing a read through the Bible in a year  systematic  read .. one selection from both Old and New Testament!

πŸ’šπŸ’šOn my tvπŸ’šπŸ’š
Various vlogs , HGTV  programming, and Hallmark movies.  I am enjoying When Calls the Heart.

πŸ’šπŸ’šInteresting youtube vlog I saw this week: πŸ’šπŸ’š

πŸ’šπŸ’šLooking around the houseπŸ’šπŸ’š
Last week  we got the hallway painted and then did quite a bit of considering, The den is next and last. As I have stated before one wall is a complete built in.

The  window seat is over the radiator.  The screen over the radiator does not allow enough heat into the room on really cold nights so we are trying to figure out how to improve the mechanics of the seating .  We did find gratings at Home Depot and Lynn is wanting to be absolutely sure how to best work them into the  whole seat assembly.  When that part has been accomplished then the whole wooden construction of bookcase, seat, and facing will be painted Behr’s Winter in  Paris.  The woodwork will be painted a softer white, and the walls will be painted Antique White.   At this time the book case has been emptied and the next thing to be done is to strip the wall paper border from the top of the walls below the crown molding.  This room is going to take a W-h-i l-e!
Might I add this little tidbit, we both returned from our Weekend in Williamsburg with colds. Please pray they are colds!  Lynn is feeling pretty bad!

πŸ’šπŸ’šOn my to-do listπŸ’šπŸ’š
  • Devotions and Bible reading
  • marketing
  •  Start feeling better
  • Start work on the den
  • Cancel ourdental appt for tomorrow
  • Do a lot of praying
  • πŸ’šπŸ’šTo relax I will:πŸ’šπŸ’š
Listen to music and doze a bit.

πŸ’šπŸ’šPrayer and devotional :πŸ’šπŸ’š

Our government leaders to seek God, stop the politics  during this   terrible time  during  the Ukraine  war.  Der God, please  send common sense to our government  to know how to respond  in so many areas  and  keep us our of this  escalating  war!  Chiefly Father,  turn the minds of our leaders to  decide to  deny Russia of anymore  payment of  gas and oil  and  begin  refining  our own reserves here  on our own soil! We are hearing of many ways to safely  send  funds to  working getting food and supplies to the refugees.   May many here  be led too  participate in that effort! May for the fear of the Lord to spread  among all people.
Father, be with the Ukrainians during this  upheaval and   build up their resolve to remain strong and   dependent on you to lead them! Even though this seems impossible, Lord, with you all things are possible!!!Father, speak into the heart of Vladimir Putin,  that he might  relent from  this  debacle he is perpetrating on  the innocent nation of Ukraine. May calm and  sensibility  reign in the minds of  all Russian leaders.  Even as peace talks seem to be taking place we pray that in truth Putin is ready for cease fire and chooses wisely to withdraw!

Prayer about the influx of illegals into our nation,  as the covid ban on immigration comes to an end, we Peary that something can be done to quell the invasion of many at our border seeking entrance. and the possible spread of disease and covid.. Father, we rebuke the spread of covid and its attaching deviants.. even with this last new strain, w3 pray that it is such a weak one that when it attacks a body it will be more cold like and easily overcome.  InJesus name!!   And Father  even as I  had written the above we do thank you for the  apparent  ceasing of mandates and pray that  is due to a dramatic decline in the spread of covid!  May it dissipate completely in Jesus name!!!
We pray for the places everywhere that persecution is taking place...
For healing of the sick,
salvation of the lost,
deliverance for the hurting,
the supply, food, and building shortage problem: may it not become
a huge crisis   We say NO to the drear  outlook  some are reporting  about our supply and  the inflation ..

I am thinking now if the dire reports from farmers not only here but around the world. With the high cost of fuel farmers struggle to be able to produce as usual, plus fertilizer is scarce. This could create a worldwide food shortage worse than anything we have ever seen because of the hug3 population ..much more than during the Depression!
Oh, Father, this is such a dire possibility it truly makes one wonder if we are facing the end of. the end times. You told us in your word in Matthew 24 there would be wars, earthquakes, pestilences, starvation, diseases if many  kinds. Besides that world events centered about Israel are aligned as well. Oh, Father, if the end of the end times is coming upon us, we pray for the lost
We pray for the church to awaken and be about your work in the world to save as many as will be saved according to your will!

We know that it is satan who comes to rob, steal, and destroy and we, by the power of Jesus name, say STOP NOW,  You may not   have the resources of the people. We also pray for godly wisdom to overtake our leaders  that they will deal with the world circumstances with the USA's best interest in mind.
Churches to arise and pastors to preach according to our times and
these days.. very vital! For the churches to repent and get straight
before a holy God. We have become too lax in our Christianity and
we need to be more persistent to seeking God and His Word!  Lord, prepare your people to be ever minded  that our work here is to lead others to Christ. Too often  we  fail  to do this,  I pray for  opportunity and
the will to do your will in Jesus name!!

Tuesday 4

Which One?

Welcome to Tuesday 4  hosted by Annie!

Which one do you prefer?

1. Picnic by the water or backyard BBQ?  I love a picnic by the lake!

2. Spring or Autumn? Got reasons?

This one is hard because I love them both.. reasons

  •  it isn't  hot,  but mild and wonderful
  • we get to keep the upstairs windows open at night
  • the colors are  magnificent
  • both  make me very contemplative,  and I love writing in my journal
  • they each had  their own special  outside activities   that   make me smile

3. Cup of Tea or Cup of Coffee?   'splain it to us Lucy... if you don't mind!  I love tea,  but there is nothing better than  that first cup of coffee in the morning. Tea is for   sharing with a friend,   usually served with something delicious,  or  served with a wonderful  book.  Coffee puts a zing in my step and  helps  set the mood for the day!

4. A weekend at home or one spent out and about?I love a weekend out and about.  They  come all too rarely these days..  But  something special is coming up this weekend! Our 50th Anniversary!

My responses to the Comments

I am so sorry my system will not allow me to comment on posts.  I have tried everything I know to do to fix this but it just doesn’t work. So I do desire to respond to your very uplifting comments.

Sue and Faith,   We could not be happier in our new church. Our pastor is so wonderful. He really cares for each person who walks in the door.  He greeted us on our first day, and his caring personally was so evident.  I was going through my gall bladder problem at the time and I felt perfectly at ease speaking to him about it and he prayed with me and was faithful to follow up.  We joined about a month ago and we really feel we have found a precious family there.  We are blessed.

Wendy, Joy, Suzanne, Linda, Karen, Jean, Monique, Luludou,  and Kirstin, interestingly last  fall through the terrible time of my gall bladder problem that continued for 2 months, I thought a lot about this home project.  It helped give me a focus and something to look forward to. It all started watching the Christmas hallmark movies which I love.  I was taken by the beautiful homes which to me were as meaningful as the players. I noticed so very many of them had a lot of rooms that were painted a very light blue and I fell in love.  Thus the idea of painting the downstairs was birthed. Interest ly, it took me probably a month to pick the right blue because it was very light. I finally chose Behr’s Era which is very light blue in the morning, but as the day wears on becomes richer and richer and I love it!So we started painting around Valentine’s Day and so far we have finished the living room, dining room, kitchen and the walls of the hall. The hall has 5 doorways but 3 doors.  That is going to hang up the flow of painting.  The last room is the den.  We are introducing a new color there.  We have a wall of bookcases surrounding a double hung window and window seat over the radiator.  I am very excited about the color we chose! But the den will be the most difficult room, wall paper border, and figuring out how to disassemble the radiator cover to make a much more efficient screen for allowing heat to escape.  But I am thrilled to be this far along!

Dear friends, I appreciate so much your words of concern and comfort for me.  Yes,  Remarkably, I have had seemingly one thing after another since lockdown.  My take on this is I’m undergoing spiritual warfare.  I am a prayer warrior. I say this because Lynn and I have met just about every week to pray with an amazing prayer team.  I also attend weekly a Bible Study on the Minor Prophets  as we study what to expect during the “last days”. My study leader and prayer leader is one in the same an amazing missionary who just returned from a 2 week trip to the Congo  where he was encouraging the pastors there. But he is also our weekly prayer leader for  Intercessors for America group.  There we pray for our communities, our nation, the church, schools, our leaders, the world situation our  culture, etc.  When all my strange ailments became so rampant he told me Satan was afraid of the woman you are becoming! His wife, Nita, is the same ..has one thing right after another, but we cannot allow it to take us down.  I know God is with me and will see me through or take me home.  But  as I remain He is preparing me for more he has for me.  I truly believe this and so I can persevere  to look forward to the day!

I love blogging,  and getting to know you dear ladies.  It is my favorite outlet.  Blessings to you all, love Carolyn

Friday's Fave Five

Hosted by Susanne

Welcome to another Friday and another opportunity take note of the blessings that God has sent us over the past week.

πŸ’œπŸ’œWhat a week.  I did call last week to  see if I could get an appointment  with the dermatologist who has  helped me with  known skin cancers..  He saw me  Tuesday,  he biopsied the spot and now I wait to hear back. He will call me back for MOh's no matter what type it is, and then send me to UVA   for  reconstructive surgery.  I might hear back from him today!  (Nope, I called and they are closed on Friday) I am grateful to have such a great doctor  with whom I can  feel  completely at ease  for such  scary  treatments.

πŸ’œπŸ’œThis morning  we awakened to knowledge we have 3/5 of the downstairs  repainted and completed.
THIS ONE DESERVES  AT LEAST 2 LISTINGS  SO THIS WEEK WE DO  4!

The Living R00m

DINING ROOM

KITCHEN

ORIGINAL COLOR                                NEW COLOR

THERE YOU CAN SEE THE HALL ..  LYNN IS THERE WORKING NOW.. HE  WILL PAINT IT ONE OF THE COLORS USED PREVIOUSLY,  AND THE  3 DOORS  WILL ALSO BE PAINTED off white!

πŸ’œπŸ’œAll last week and this, I have suffered from  an eye staff infection..  I had thought it was allergy eyes, they were so weepy,  but after three doctors,    the ophthalmologist  finally saw me and   he diagnosed  and   prescribed what I needed.  But the medication is so  greasy   I can hardly see even to type today.   This was  brought on mainly  from   extremely dry eyes.... another    yucky complaint for  being over 70!  But I am thankful to  have turned the corner with this and now I know  to  use my  drops  when ever  problems arise or  more often really.  I'm trying to get  acclimated to it!

πŸ’œπŸ’œ Before my nose  situation arose,  I  had been looking  all over the internet for a romantic venue - long weekend-  for Lynn and I to  go to celebrate our 50th anniversary, coming up  next weekend. I had finally decided on Williamsburg.  We hadn't been there in several years and it is so beautiful in the spring.  I had   almost    gotten reservations at a wonderful  Embassy Suites there...  then  the nose thing   raised it's  little head! So now I am on hold waiting to hear and expecting to have to make a 3 day  trek to Charlottesville in the coming  days......Glory be!  Lynn told me to go ahead and set up the reservation and  fix it so  it can be  refundable.. Ain't he sweet!!! Thank you, LORD!

Wednesday Hodge Podge

From this Side of the Pond
Hosted by Joyce!
1. It's March 15th and as the saying goes-"Beware the Ides of March". Have you read or studied much Shakespeare?

I  did  quite a bit  in college..   Did my major paper  on Antony and Cleopatra!   I did well on it then but have no idea what I wrote today!
I prefer the comedies, my favorite  is As You like It!
How do you feel about a Caesar salad? It is my salad of choice when dining out!

2. Have you ever been to Rome? If so what do you love about the city? If not, any desire to go?I have not been to Rome, and actually, it is not on my list!

3. What's your favorite place to 'roam'?  I love   the countryside.  I love to drive around on unknown roads just to see where they take us. If I went to  England I much prefer the countryside to  any major city!  I  am looking so forward to our Scotland trip this summer.  And we are sticking mainly to the  lesser known areas.

4. Do you like pizza? I do  to some degree..Thick or thin crust?  I prefer thin crust.Red sauce-white sauce-other?  Red sauce!Your favorite toppings?   I love onions, bell pepper, but not green, bacon or ham.  I love lots of cheese,  but  I do not like  very hot and spicy  toppings! How do you feel about pineapple on a pizza? Not for me!

5.  'Rome wasn't built in a day'...tell us how this expression applies to something in your home-life-job currently (or recently)?   Well,   our  home refresh, definitely. All last fall I  dreamed of the new year. We would paint  the living room,    buy a few new pieces,    then move on to the dining room  .. the same color. Then  we came to the kitchen. This room has been a struggle. Our cabinets were painted  in 2005 when we  did a sort of remodel. We  put in granite,  bought new appliances and we  put new  cabinet doors on our   nice  but plain  solid wood units.  a few units had to be restructured    to fit  the  overall look and we had  the opposite wall  done with a granite desk area for my computer and upper and lower cabinets  made to    finish the project. The wall color and border stayed the same. Well, I chose colors that  Behr paint said  went well with   Rolling Pebble our cabinets. And we bought a gallon of the  wall paint ,  but  it just didn't work.  After one coat we could tell it was just too close to the  crown moulding white  and looked sickly. All wasn't lost because  we needed a second coat of paint to cover that  deep red. So we went  a few shades darker. And one thing about  using  the computer to  check  the color,  it looked much darker online than it does on the wall but I like it. It looks like a  coffee latte  color  which  goes well in a kitchen!   And it looks well with the   granite!  The paint is finished now  except Lynn wants to go back and touch up a couple places tomorrow. I am anxious to hang the artwork  and  some  English  transfer ware  plates.I am especially looking forward to reclaiming my dining room table. But  that isn't all!

Next we have to paint the small  square hall in the middle of the house. It would be easy, except there are three doors,  plus  2 more  entrances with moulding   so  that will take  at least   two or three weeks,  Mainly because I had my biopsy on my nose yesterday and I expect  to  be going to  UVA for  corrective surgery following my MOH's in Charlottesville, perhaps next week!

Then, we have the den to paint.  That room has a whole wall of  bookshelves  which re now painted white, but I have picked Winter in Paris  as my paint color!Winter In Paris - Paint Colors - Paint - The Home Depot

We do have  wall paper border in there around the ceiling  so I cannot help with that!  I had originally thought  we could get this all done in  about 6 weeks.  I think it will  probably  owe twice that long! Sigh!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Nothing left to say!  Except  be blessed  and have a great  St. Paddy's Day!!

πŸ’šπŸ’šOn my mindπŸ’šπŸ’š
I am taking one thing at a time and am seeing how God has gone before me to prepare the way!  That makes a wonderful difference … no fear,  just trusting!

πŸ’šπŸ’šHow I am feelingπŸ’šπŸ’š
We had to get out early today to follow up on an eye situation
I have been dealing with.  I have very dry eyes which developed into  an infection on the inside of my eye lids! ouch! Thankfully, I got a good report, but my eyes still are watery as they are compensating for dry eye.  Goodness!  So I have to hydrate my eyes several times a day to stop the watering!  What else , Lord!  I am thankful this isn’t serious or life threatening, but just another thing on my todo list to bring my body back into shape.
Meanwhile, my exercises are working and I am standing up straighter today!  So pleased about that!  Tomorrow morning we will be in Charlottesville for  my skin check.  He will take a biopsy and then give me a plan for further medical care and correction. Then I will better be able to establish my next rounds of therapy to strengthen my body!I am just so thankful for help in these areas and especially thankful for good insurance!

πŸ’šπŸ’šOn the breakfast plateπŸ’šπŸ’š
Coffee, fruited yogurt and a donut.  Mid morning I had a biscuit with gravy and an egg .

BTW, if you aren't  currently going to church, I  absolutely  recommend  watching  Allen Jackson,  (Not the country singer)  He is  so wonderful!!!  Very passionate  and   exceptionally knowledgable.  Lynn and I  listen to him every week!

πŸ’šπŸ’šInteresting youtube vlog I saw this week: πŸ’šπŸ’š

I do enjoy the French Farmhouse Flair.   It is amazing how with a solid focus on design that this young mother has transformed her home? Most everything is thrifted and diy.

πŸ’šπŸ’šLooking around the houseπŸ’šπŸ’š
We are pretty close to having the kitchen finished. Of course, we have had several interruptions, The wall paint I chose is just not deep enough of a color to contrast with white trim and shutters,  we have removed the border, and cleaned the walls, and painted the first coat which was good coverage over that deep red. So now Lynn has to stop by Home Depot and get a gallon of Antique White for the second coat.  Hopefully he can trim out the walls this evening and roll the walls tomorrow after our trip  up the valley. We just don’t know what the rest of the week has in store for us!

πŸ’šπŸ’šOn my to-do listπŸ’šπŸ’š
  • Devotions and Bible reading
  • marketing
  •  laundry
  • paint the walls and  put the kitchen back together

PS  the kitchen painting is finished ;we are just waiting for it to dry then tomorrow we can move everything back in.  Also, this morning very early we drove to Charlottesville two and 1/2 hours away.  Got  my biopsy and then shopped a bit then drove home . I bought a beautiful blue throw for the sofa and new  linens for the bathroom. I was exhausted.  Dear Lynn finished the painting.  He had already cut in around the edges and only had the rolling to do today.  And I now wait to find out what happens next.  Around the house, the downstairs hall is next.  It will be blue with off white trim!

Friday Fave Five

Hosted by Susanne

Welcome to another Friday and another opportunity take note of the blessings that God has sent us over the past week.

πŸ’šπŸ’šI  began the week  with a self realization that  alas, the rough places on my nose were yet again another  skin cancer  not un- like the ones  that required  corrective surgery at UVA . So I called  my wonderful dermatologist in Charlottesville and got an appt for this coming week.  He will then do a biopsy and then depending on the report set me up   for  an appt to  give me MOHS surgery then send me to UVA for  plastic surgery.  I Praise God that He is with me. Early in the week,  at the thought of this I cried  But  His Spirit has comforted me and I am  feeling  a  calm and a bravery to face it knowing I am not alone!  Ive been here twice before!

πŸ’šπŸ’š  I am so thankful that Lynn has persevered  through preparing the kitchen for painting.  It has taken time,  but  goodness, he has so much on him!
So the caulking and   taping up around  the many areas that  needed taping.  There is a bit of millwork around this small kitchen!
Hopefully  he will actually open the paint can today and  begin.  I am thinking  this room will need two coats as seen  below,  You will know why!

We are painting all the red  with bleached linen...   so    the green tape should make   painting a bit easier and faster, as well!!  but  don't you think 2 coats, as well?

πŸ’šπŸ’šI started my  gyne-uro  therapy today.  Much of the exercises  are  similar to  what I am doing    in my physical therapy  to strengthen my  back,  pelvic floor,  hips and  legs.  Old age  is not fun...  and after all the  issues that have  stricken my poor body   over the pandemic,  I am  very much out of shape and in a weakened  state. I  have wonderful  professionals  working with me and I am truly blessed!!

πŸ’šπŸ’šI am so thrilled that   we are making friends very quickly at our new church. In these trying times it means so much to have  good Christian friends to  share with and  lift one another up  especially in prayer!  I joined the prayer team and  it is a very vibrant group and people really depend on  the  goodness of God through prayer which I think is marvelous!  Other churches we  have been part of  didn't give prayer much thought!!!

πŸ’šπŸ’šLynn is reaching out  right now  with  a donation to   aid  the people of Ukraine.    I am sure no one ever thought we would  be facing such  a thing  just two weeks ago. and for the poor  Ukrainians,  our hearts   go out to them.  I hope many many Americans  are  doing all they can to send help  for these people.  I mean 2.3 million refugees  have fled the country in a two week time frame.   And how horrible to have to leave their men folk behind.  Please pray for the people and  for  leadership of all  nations to  find ways to  give hope and help  to this situation.  I know one way I have prayed the US would undertake but unfortunately it has not been  addressed.  it is a pet political   thing.  Oh, I pray  common sense and  and  concern for  all will reign in the hearts of minds of  all of ur leaders!

Well,  as  my life suddenly is  sort of  running out of control,  I  await  yet another    visit to  my  dermatologist near UVA   who will do a biopsy on the whole side of my nose.  I had   2  biopsies so far on my nose previously  which required  reconstructive surgery   at UVA  the  following days.  This meant the wearing of huge bandages and  scaring     for the next several weeks.   This comes at such a busy time
I am in the midst of  therapy for my legs and back,  followed by  urology therapy,   and then my   50th wedding anniversary  is in 3 weeks,  and 3 other  important appointments I should not miss.  My mind is  in a swirling mist of multiple emotions.  I just  cancelled my  therapies for next week anyway hoping I can have the biopsy and the  reconstruct next week. That would hugely    simplify  some things!

Here I am in 2017  after one of my  events!

πŸ’šπŸ’šHow I am feelingπŸ’šπŸ’š
I  am so enjoying my therapy.  Doing my back exercises  work out so well there, but not so well doing them on my bed and I simply cant get down on the floor. So I feel great  until  the weekend  and  yesterday and  today  my  lower back is  so  stiff and sore  it is so hard to walk correctly.   Now  with having to  cancel   a couple of therapies  I am  sort of  downcast!!

πŸ’šπŸ’šOn the breakfast plateπŸ’šπŸ’š
Coffee, buttered boiled egg, and  toast of jelly.  Hubs  is trying so hard to  treat me  so sweetly.

πŸ’šπŸ’šOn my reading pileπŸ’šπŸ’š

We are also studying  the book of Exodus, The Core Group is  starting Ephesians, which I love!!!  I am taking a Hermeneutics class on how to study the Bible! Lynn and I are doing a read through the Bible in a year  systematic  read  provided by the Allen Jackson Ministries! You can download the app  there  to get the  Bible schedule. BTW, if you aren't  currently going to church, I  absolutely  recommend  watching  Allen Jackson,  (Not the country singer)  He is  so wonderful!!!  Very passionate  and   exceptionally knowledgable.  Lynn and I  listen to him every week!

Not exactly a vlog  but a site  where I find  wonderful  videos     about  an American girl who  married an English viscount and suddenly became a Viscountess  and  owner of the gorgeous  castle, Mapperton in England.  She is  very popular in the UK  and even has  her own show on the  Smithsonian Channel.  This is her site.    From there you can find many  vlogs!

πŸ’šπŸ’šPrayer and devotional :πŸ’šπŸ’š

We thank you, Lord, that  the European neighbors have issued strong sanctions  on   Russia and that they have   strong implications for  the nation and  its leaders.  But even as we see these sanctions are not enough lead  us all to make wise decisions on how to apply deeper pressure on  the  advancing  armies   that would turn  the tide and not  bring higher escalation!!
Prayer about the influx of illegals into our nation, and the possible spread of disease and covid.. Father, we rebuke the spread of covid and its attaching deviants.. and we do thank you Lord that  we do see  some   demise of the covid strain and pray that all covid will dissipate and be gone forever, in Jesus name!!
Too often  we  fail  to do this,  I pray for  opportunity and   the will to do your will in Jesus name!!
