Tablescape Thursday: A Homage to Wonderful William Morris

Tablescape Thursday, Hosted by Susan !

Last year we toured Scotland and while we were at

 Stirling Castle

my daughter slipped off to the gift shop and purchased  for my birthday my first William Morris  decorative item..  a gorgeous   tapestry pillow  with the design called Strawberry Thief.

About a month ago  I found a whole  tablescape group of linens of the same  design at Amazon..  This  is  so wonderful  because  the price was  very reasonable  and the  quality was  very nice!!
So I have paired  the  linens with   my blue and white  English country  scene, Countryside pattern, by Enoch Wedgewood.
Six placemats and a table runner were included in the set!
I was so excited to  step into my Discovery Shop and find  this pair of partridges  that  look sassy enough to go after those strawberries, as well!

My room is a light blue and  I love the  contrast of these  darker colors  for a late summer table..  But  I am, also, using  my  simple  green summer  glasses with my blue and green napkins that just seem to  punctuate my style of mixing the classic with the  unexpected!.

Here you can get the overall effect  in the room!
I had  heard from  several  folks online that  these vintage  birds were   becoming  quite rare and hard to find.. It was such a  happy moment for me to  find them immediately I stepped into our vintage shop to find the pair for ten dollars!

Tuesday 4 Toys

Toys

Hello. It's time for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.  I hope you are enjoying them.  I welcome ideas for questions or themes, so feel free to let me know.    Hosted by Annie!

Could we talk about toys?  Toys are important to children and sometimes to adults as well.   There are memories tied up with toys we loved, toys we miss having in our lives.  We found comfort in them, excitement with them and just fun times over all.

1. What was your favorite all time toy?
I had a beautiful baby doll  that Santa brought me  when I was 5.
  This  is  a  reasonable  facsimile
It was an Alexander Tiny Tear  doll  that   drank from a bottle, then  wet it's diaper..  But mine wore a cute  red gingham dress!

2. What kind of toys did you enjoy growing up?  I loved   board games and puzzle with the family,   as an only child,  I loved to  make up games  and create  single games like playing teacher,  or office..  I would create a whole office of  teacher's  desk..

3.  I think certain bric a brac in the home could be a kind of grown up's toy.  What is in your home just purely to make you happy?  I am  a sucker for  transfer ware   pottery. I love to set  lovely tablescapes. I used to  share  in a couple of Tablescape blogs but I do not see those any more!

4.What games were your favorites and do you still play any games? I love to play   word games online.  I play Wordle, Quordle, Octordle, and Sedeordle  every morning  when I first get up  usually in the dark,  sitting in my  chair in the bedroom.  My son in law  sometimes  check in on each other to  see who did best! With the kiddies I love to play clue, and some games that have that I have no idea what they are called!

Tuesday 4

Summertime Easy Living?

Hey! Welcome back to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 where we ask just 4 questions each week to give you something to blog about, something to think about and a reason to visit other blogs!
Hosted by Annie!

Summer time and the living is easy says the song.  So how is summer going for you? Let's talk about it.....

1. How has it been so far?  It has been  a fairly easy summer...  Except for  this week.. we are included in the heat dome and   I am super glad we replaced our old a/c  early this spring.   Staying home and inside  is my  main emphasis this week.  Next week looks  great..  perhaps even a precursor to Autumn!!

2. What have you been doing this summer?  We  have been   doing business as usual..  church and  friends..  Hubs has been taking care of the  outside  and I try to keep the inside going,  although as stated in  a previous post I do rely a lot on Hubs  inside, as well, as I am unable to   carry things up and down  the stairs..and He also does the   vacuuming..  I  keep things picked up and tidy,  as well as, meals and   putting things away  up and down stairs.. Except for the marvelous week  we enjoyed the  kids in early July,  we have been  just the two of us..  but  since we  love  our company , the two of us,  it has been a lovely summer!!

3. What are you going to do? Any plans?  I am still  loving the nature journalling I am doing this summer.   But ..  I am especially looking    for Autumn..  when I start a new Bible Study at church,  and  when it is cooler I  like to plan   outings  .. perhaps   to  SW Va.  where I have some beloved  family to visit.. I like to plan   meals  and have  special friends  to dinner    in fall..   it just seems I'm more energetic then!

4. It's been hot in most of the country, but here on the Jersey coast it's been perfect so far. Not too hot, not too cool but just right with breezes.   How are you weathering the heat. Any tips on staying  cool on hot, humid days?   As I said above.  I  mainly stay inside and do my thing with pen. paint, and paper! We ,also,  have   weekly  prayer    groups  we join,  and  a couple Bible Study groups.  There  we  are  socializing  several times a week, and we  love it!!

Clothing,  In another  post  recently I wrote about  deciding to  copy my hubs and   wear  only house clothes  at home....  and save my  regular  clothing for going out.  That way  the  wash    tub  doesn't fill up so quickly.  I have a couple  of  very cool,   linen like  midi dresses I wear  around the house and I am cool and comfy  and look  pretty  darn good, as well!  Food,...  as I am doing WW now  eating  fresh fruits and veggies    is very cooling. Im not  cooking so much  and that helps  a lot! Also, we keep cut up  watermelon  in the fridge.  I am losing even more  eating a bowl of watermelon  everyday,  and it really keeps me cool!! Drinks,..  water, water,  water! Fans, air conditioning..and as I stated  our new A/c is fabulous. The house has never been cooler  even  keeping it at 76. Also  since I do my art in the garden room,  we are able to keep the   door open    to the  sunroom.  as we  had to keep it closed before because our old A/c wasn't  strong enough to cool it.. It was  ever so hot out there.  Now it is  simply a comfortable place to  draw, read, catch up on correspondence. ctc!

Let us know your secrets to keeping cooler.  I did!!

Oh My goodness.  I  just found the anthem I sang  at   the church I attending back in the seventies.  This  beautiful     song  changed my life  ..  I  understood  my  Lord and Savior  in a much more meaningful  way. I put my whole trust and faith in Him as never before.  I pray you will  take time to listen to  The Lord is my Light!

Happy Homemaker Monday

 Happy  Homemaker Monday

Hosted by Sandra!
Hi, from the mid Atlantic where it is 9 pm Sunday evening, and the temperature is 92!  Uh,  not enjoying the thought of this upcoming week.  I am really ready for autumn!

♥ ♥ Weather

Monday -sunny, 95/69

Tuesday - partly cloudy, 92/68

Wednesday - partly cloudy, 86/65

Thursday -partly cloudy, 90/71

Friday - partly cloudy, 97/73

Saturday- rain, 88/65

I have been following the weather and we are included in the large heat wave that is plaguing the mid section of the US!   I am happy that our numbers do not even approach the 100’s which have been so prominent in much of the country,  but the muggy humidity here still feels pretty terrible for us, and we are not too used to prolonged high temps so I am praying the wave will not last much more than this week.  Actually  , the temps are supposed to moderate the next week.  And then it will be September!

♥♥ As I look outside my window ♥♥
Monday Morning:It looks like any other summer morning, but the temps are rapidly rising and I have no plans for being outside. The thermometer is moving right up to the 80’s pretty quickly, as the 90’s loom over us before noon today!

♥♥ Right now I am ♥♥

I am working on this post on my tablet as I sit in my chair in the den watching Fox News.  I am so disgusted by the lack of help we are offering  Maui,  compared to the huge funding we are doing for Ukraine.  I am sorry for Ukraine, but we need to care for our own first!  I cannot understand our country anymore. I barely recognize it!

♥♥ Thinking and pondering ♥♥
I think this is sort of funny… Hubs has always worn what he calls his house clothes around the house. Now they are not his work clothes. When he works he changes into his work shirt, bib overalls and either works in house or out. When he finishes he bathes and changes into his house clothing. When we go out shopping or, Church, or visiting, he changes into his good clothes …as soon as he gets home he is back into his house clothes.  Well, I have now purchased from Walmart some house dresses that I am  calling my house clothes.  Now  I do my housekeeping in them too because, I actually do not have a heavy load due to my infirmities.  My tasks don’t usually require the dirty work I used to do in my youth.  These days I cook, dust, mop,  put clothes  away, get laundry together. Make beds  etc. Poor Lynn does the laundry .. I can’t carry it down to the basement .  So he just does it since it is just the two of us, we don’t have that much to do.  Anyway, I’m wearing my house dress today. It is a pink midi length cotton  shift.  Much like a midi length tee. I also have a blue and white striped one.  They are on sale now at Walmart  and they are really cute.  I think this trend should catch on. I can wear these two dresses during the week and save on wearing  my regular clothes during the week.  It actually makes a lot of sense!

♥♥How am I feeling ♥♥
I am feeling good,,, but I still have my weak back and   sore knee joints.. but after I’ve been up and around the house those issues fade away.  I am feeling good as far as how my diet is improving my mobility. It really inspires me to keep on eating well and losing more!  As it is now, when I lose 5 more pounds  then  I will weigh what   I weighed  at age 35 when we adopted our daughter. That is a great milestone for me.

♥♥ On the breakfast plate ♥
 ♥

My usual breakfast is a fruited yogurt made up mainly of plain  Greek yogurt with just a bit of  flavored ( blueberry) mixed in with sliced strawberries,  about a third of a small banana sliced in and some fresh blueberries  all stirred in and about 1/4 of a cup of chopped walnuts on top. My precious husband makes our brewed coffee every morning and fixes this breakfast for  me most mornings.  I am truly blessed. On odd days instead, I will cook eggs with sometimes a bit of country ham for good measure and We will split a slightly buttered English muffin.   This is all in keeping with my WW diet.  Since I started about the end of May I have lost 25 pounds and am feeling much better. But I still need to keep losing.

♥♥ On the dinner plate ♥♥
Most fresh veggies and fruits.  Hard to say in advance.

♥♥ What I'm wearing ♥♥
So, as I stated above I’m very comfortably wearing my pink house dress!  I love it because it has pockets which is really helpful as I  can put  needed items in the pockets from upstairs when I come downstairs each morning.

♥♥ On my reading pile ♥♥

Chapters from 1 Samuel,  Romans, Jeremiah, Psalms

♥♥On my TV this week ♥
I am actually watching When Calls the Heart while I type. It is actually the only evening network show. I like.  I watch  YouTube on other evenings that we are home. We are out part of 3 evenings a week, so many evenings We just do not turn on the tv.  During the day  I might watch new# networks,  cooking shows,  and home and garden programming.

♥♥ Looking around the house ♥♥
I started decorating downstairs for autumn. Lynn brought up 3 storage bins and I’ve been decorating the living room, dining room and garden room.  I still have some decor in a box that I can’t decide how to use. I know I need to use some in the den, but can’t quite wrap my mine around it. I also have 12 decorative pumpkins now since my shopping trip to Hobby  Lobby. I also have several kinds  of leaves so I know I need to be thinking pumpkins this week.  It will be interesting  to see how it all pans out!🍁🎃🍂

Friday Fave Five

Welcome to FFF!  Hosted by Susanne!

I cannot believe that today is Friday.. Zippidy  doo dah day!  The week  zipped past  in a flurry of   events and things on the
mind!!!

Sunday.. We were  a bit  blue because our  good friends  who we always go to  dinner  following church  had  property at the beach to check on and so we were on our own.  We thought we'd  try out a  place we hadn't  been to in  some time and I was terribly disappointment.  I had steak   and  veggies.. Oh my.. my  medium steak was raw..   it wouldn't even cut,   and   the veggies were horrid.  Another  place bites the dust!  That put me in an utter  funk for the day  so I just wiled away the rest of the day  watching old films while Lynn did his own thing! Bummer!  Sunday evening  was redeemed  .. We  were signed up to  start a Transform Class at Church  and it was  really  great.  I look forward to  the rest of the 8 weeks before us!!

Monday, Was  a grand day..   We  got our  morning chores accomplished then headed  up    the mountain to my favorite  store, Hobby Lobby.  Lynn just dropped me off as he had other      fields to mow!  hehehe and I had so much fun with no one pushing me. Everything was 40% off. I  got some really fun Autumn  decor,   and  have been  putting things together  in spare time this week.  Love it!!!Then we  ate   at Cracker Barrel, which is always  good!!

Tuesday was a rather drear day and nothing  much happened..   But  drear  days  can be  a  valuable    gift from God !!!

so  on to Wednesday I love that midweek we attend  a wonderful Bible Study  led by  an amazing  teacher  who studied the Bible   in the Hebrew and the Greek.  so his understanding is pretty  flawless.   We are studying  books that relate  much to the latter days..  actually some in the Old Testament like Malachi, Joel, and Amos.   Always fascinating and it just sets the tone for midweek.  Then Lynn took us for  a  cone of    frozen yogurt  at  a favored   Ice Cream Truck , Kippy's Kustard...that we hadn't  been to all summer and  it will be  leaving at the end of August....  it was  just a perfect day!!!

Thursday, we did some  shopping around  town..   but mainly stopping  at Home Depot to purchase our  paint for the  bathroom.  We had the bathroom  remodeled  about 5 years ago and  even though I worked with a decorator  on the paint colors  once it was on the wall, I  despised  it from the first day.  It looked to much like a  beach blue.  I wanted  something a bit off  blue to  go along with the  English Cottage   style decor  around the rest of the house! One thing I do love about the  bathroom is the stick built wainscoting  around the bottom half of the walls ... painted white,  I think my new  shade of green  will look very sharp  against that white.   I got the name  wrong  this week when I shared a paint chip of the color.  Even  though the name was  right there  on the  chip..  it is Australian Jade.  and has a touch of grey and blue in the green.    I  can't wait now for the   paint to go on the wall!    Hopefully, not too long from now!!!  Thank you, Lord for  bringing   us this fall along  our quest.

Today I had my Weight watchers  meeting and Im so pleased to say this week I lost 3.8 pounds.  YAYAYA!!

I came home and fixed a nice lunch for us  ,  watched a bit of  my favorite Youtube videos and  then spent a couple of hours decorating with my new  autumn decor.   It is coming along  nicely.. I finally have just enough decor to  spread all around  the downstairs.  A bit here, a tad there!  Tonight    we have  our Intercessors for America Prayer meeting.  actually led by  our Bible Study    teacher and his wife.  It is  just wonderful to pray together with friends  we know so well..  We've been doing the Bible study and prayer group now for  at least 25 years! One of my favorite things to do  at  both events is to open  with singing.

I love this song we sang this week!!!

Let's go out singing together!!

Tuesday 4 Birds!

It's For the Birds

Hey there Tuesday 4 fans.    Hosted by Annie!

Can we talk about the birds today? Did you know that birds sing all day long but particularly 3 times a day which correspond to the prayers of Daniel the Prophet. His 3 prayer daily corresponded to the 3 daily services in the temple at Jerusalem..

1. Do you have a favorite bird?   I love  bluebirds,  but  am very fond of chickadees, and goldfinches, as well!   I wish we could attract the white throated sparrow to our  yard., I love their song best of all!

2. Do you find singing birds comforting or annoying?  I could sit and listen to bird song all the day long!

3. Can you recognize the songs of particular birds or is it all the same to you?  I am  presently trying to learn to distinguish their songs.  I know the
cardinal,  the dove, of course,  the  White throated sparrow,   to name the ones  right off I can think of !

4. Every year many birds die from being fed too much sugar.  Grape jelly glues shut the beaks of birds and honey , corn syrup or other substitutes to white sugar does the same to humming birds. We are warned to use only white refined sugar for humming birds. Do you feed the birds or provide water or shelter for them?  We  do feed the birds.  I  keep meal worms for the bluebirds,    some birds really love the peanut butter nuggets, especially the larger birds, like the    woodpeckers and   cardinals.  We keep  our feeder    going  about  twice a week.   My husband  gets a bit upset  about the  scavenger birds that  tend to  dominate the feeder and  fight the other birds away.  We go through a large  feeder  in less than a day  and it gets   expensive,  but  we  usually  fill it twice a week.  The  scavenger birds  are the house wrens and  English sparrows.   I know the  wrens have attacked  my sitting bluebirds in their own  bird house.. and killed the mother..   But    the warring that goes on in  our yard    is  I suppose just  another  form of nature, that  again proves we live in a fallen world!

We recently  started  feeding the hummingbirds. We re very careful to use a bit of sugar in the water..  I dont like putting the coloring in the water,    but  the  birds   are drawn to it!

(Always use refined white sugar (regular table sugar). Never use honey, corn syrup or raw, unprocessed sugars. Powdered sugar (also called confectioners' sugar) often contains additional ingredients, such as cornstarch. Therefore, it is not recommended for use in creating hummingbird food

Friday Fave Five

Ffr

Welcome to FFF!  Hosted by Susanne!

This week has flown by.   It all began on Sunday  with amazing  church..  I really enjoy our new church.. the people,  the teaching   it is  very precious to  us.   Then  we  got to dine out with our  dear friends as usual on Sunday...  This time we tried a place new to us.. Chili's   a  place that jsut recently opened in our community.  I reserve my judgment on it so far.. I think it is very expensive for what you get!  Not high on my list for sure!!!

Now Monday arrived all too quickly.. I had been dreading Monday  since late January when my endoscopy doctor told me I would have  to have another colonoscopy  in 6 months  to  try,  yet again to remove  a polyp  that  was blocked by    some  scar tissue from a  surgery a decade ago!  So  starting at 2 I was  beginning the medication and preparing the    horrid  gallon of  prep    electrolyte  mix  to drink  8ounces  every 30 minutes from 6- 10pm.    the tonic does its work    casing multiple trips to the John...  and before you  are ready you  drink  another  series of    the tonic  from 2am- 6:00.  I was  so very exhausted   after the first  go around I actually wrote emails to my prayerful friends asking them to pray mightily for me to  get the  might and will to continue  and praise God I was given 200 hour time  from midnight til 2am  of rest and  sleep  so that the next go around  wasn't  as bad.  Prayer  is  the key to every thing we face in this world!!!

Tuesday   I was ready to  get myself to the hospital and get the procedure over  and  I felt the presence of the Lord the whole time..  And  sure enough the doctor was able to get to the polyp  and  remove  it  fully,  along with yet another one that had  made its presence known.  So  I was told  I'd have to  come in in a year for another  one..    But  I know    whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I've committed unto Him against   that day!!!

Wednesday,  was a great day.  I had been able to sleep well   and  awaken     a bit later than I usually do which was very nice and  I just took  things easy.  I  ate  lightly and   read and  watched some YouTube  videos..    and I was  just able to do what I wanted to do which was a lovely  time.. no  concerns  no problems!  Lovely!!!  We did  go to our  regular Bible Study time  and  a large group was there so I was given the opportunity to testify to the greatness of our God..   aadn that prompted others to share their tories which  was  a  very uplifting  time  and then we prayed.. I love corporate prayer. It was   a beautiful morning!

Thursday, Lynn had a  regular  checkup to his morning and again I slept in a bit  He stopped  at the market and brought in some  beautiful  produce   which  We will enjoy this evening.. I caught up on my Bible reading and   watched a couple of  very   interesting  videos  I  do recommend if you re interested in End Time truths and    what is already going on in the world.

My husband usually doesn't sit in on  things of this nature with me,  but he did today and  he was riveted just as I was!

I am writing this on Thursday evening and so I ahve no idea about Friday..  I know I will be going to  my Weight Watchers meeting  and hope to lose 2 pounds  this week.  We then have a lunch date with friends to go out for a nice lunch.  These are our dear friend who are leaving Friday on a    trip for a week   so  I won't see them on Sunday!..   So Friday  sounds like it will be a delightful day and   all I can add to this week is taht the Lord has blessed me mightily!    Thank You, Lord..  There is none like YOU!!!

Tuesday 4. Music

Music and Sound

Hosted by Annie!

background music in the night
Time once again for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.. and welcome one and all. Consider joining in won't you? Let us get to know you. won't you?

1. Do you like music in the background or is quiet more suitable for you?  I love to have music playing.   It all depends on my mood.  I love all music except rap and country.

2. What kind of sounds or music annoy or bother you? My dad loved country and he played it all the time so I can abide it for love of him, but rap music, I detest!  It really annoys me!

3. What kind of sounds do you find enjoyable, peaceful or uplifting?? I love sounds of nature so I love Dan Gibson’s channel on Spotify and other online
venues.  what  sounds are most annoying?  Anything that is brash or hate inspired.  I lean mostly to serene music, classical, very smooth jazz, and when I’m in the mood,  music from the 60’s and 70’s.  our travel playlist is our olden Goldie’s and we love to sing along as we travel!

4. Do you play an instrument or would you like to learn to sing or to play an instrument.I took 12 years of piano and really enjoyed playing until I was 35 when Amanda came along.  I couldn’t play with her in the house.  She always wanted to play,  too. By the time she had grown up enough to understand not banging while I played,  I’d lost my love of playing.  Then without the practice I got rusty, then I couldn’t see the music well after middle age. So I gave it up. Amanda took over 20 years of piano along with her violin and we kept the piano for her sake,  but a couple of years ago we went ahead and gave the piano to a sweet family who wanted it for their children. We knew we wouldn’t get anything close to what it was worth. So we just were happy to gift it to her!

Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy  Homemaker Monday

Hosted by Sandra!

This week is starting out  crazy!    I begin prep   for my  colonoscopy  this afternoon,   but last  Friday when I called the hospital to pre-register  they did not have me on the schedule for a procedure so I dealt with the   doctor's office  for about a half hour....     and was told all  fixed. So I called the hospital  this morning to  pre-register and I still wasn't in the  system.  So I called the doctor's office and sure enough they told me  nothing had been done.    I was    about to explode inside.  I  really  wasn't in the mood to  get  so  upset today..   since I am fasting and  begin the prep  meds  right after lunchtime..    or  a little over an hour from now.   But I wasn't going to  do the prep  if I didn't have an appt for tomorrow..  I feel like my blood pressure is    crazy and   my blood sugar.. is well.  I dont know  all I've had today is a cup of tea and  a dietetic lemon popsicle!    (" MAMA!)

♥♥ As I look outside my window ♥♥

                                                   Ahhhhh!!  I wish!!!

♥♥ Right now I am ♥♥

I'm  truly  trying to come down to earth  following  my  disturbing morning!!.   Taking deep breaths and   thinking  high thoughts!!!

♥♥ Thinking and pondering ♥♥
I, originally,  got a paper from my  attending physician in May telling me all the details  about my procedure tomorrow .. the time, place,  and directions for  the  prep  for  today.  Gee Whiz, I really thought  things were all set.   So  Ive  actually  been on the verge of  crazy  even  before May    when I  had  this   my other colonoscopy  and  was told  that I had  one other polyp that the doctor couldn't get out  because of some scar tissue.  So I have to come in, in a few months to  have another procedure to try to get it out and if  he couldn't get it I'd  have a resection of my bowel     to remove it that way!   I was still reeling from the news that I'd  be coming back in a few months  for  another colonoscopy...   after  taht  realization  I started  dwelling on the  resection....   and now  the few months have passed and here I am a nervous wreck.  Oh, yes..  breathe..  ... high thoughts  Enough about this!!!!!

♥♥How am I feeling ♥♥

I am actually really feeling good about the procedure..  (Not so much the prep)   I know  God  is with me.  He  will  bring out the best result for me..   I fully trust in Him and  I have  many prayers    from church and  friends  abroad  so I am covered!!   And I can feel  it!!    So I'm good!!!
