I must say I am pleased with the more seasonal weather.  I have many Christmas gifts I need to start wrapping. I will enjoy sitting by the fire some this week and start listening to Christmas music, I have some Olde English  Christmas cds that are not so Christmassy that they seem too much too early. I  just love listening to them prior to the regular season.

Tuesday 4. Automobiles

Automobiles

Hey there... welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.  Hosted by Annie

We rely on cars to get just about everywhere today, so maybe we should talk about them a bit. Okay?

1. What is the earliest car you remember your family owning? A 1952 Chevy. Do you recall the color or the plate number?  It was white.
2. What does your states license plate look like? Do you like it?
I never thought of it one way or the other!

3. What color is your car now?  White
4. Did you have a car as a teenager?   If yes, what kind was it?I drove dad’s car until I was 21 when dad bought me a car to be able to drive to student teaching.  That car was a new 1971 Dodge Challenger.
I found this photo online. Mine , like this one had a white vinyl  hardtop, There was no striping, and mine had wire spoke rims.

Something More

Something More

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer questions, however, and here are today's questions!

Hosted by Samantha!

Saturday 9: Something More (2005)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) Sugarland's lead singer Jennifer Nettles describes a busy morning that begins with a cup of coffee. Do you start your day with a cup of joe? Absolutely, at least one cuppa  Joe!

2) When she gets home from work, she sings that her house is dirty but says housework can wait until she has a glass of wine. Is there a particular chore on your "to-do" list that you keep putting off? You might notice that on Mondays as I share my things to do each day, it often mentions organized the guest room closet which is actually where my clothing is.  It always needs a bit of pick me up!

3) The lyrics tell us happiness is something we can create. Do you agree?  If we don’t create it, then life would be terribly dull and senseless.

4) In the video of this week's song, the members of Sugarland ride along in a vintage Cadillac. Are you one of those drivers who has a nickname for your car?  Well, hubs calls his truck “Blackie” and the Subbie is our “Baby”!

5) The group hitches a ride in a red truck. The auto insurance industry tells us that Americans favor vehicles in the grayscale colors. Nearly 80% of cars on the road today are white, black, gray or silver. What color is your vehicle?  White!

6) Nettles achieved her dream of performing on Broadway when she took over the role of Roxy in Chicago. What's your fantasy job?
It would be the one I am living.   The carefree housewife!

7) She wrote a cookbook with her mom called Sweet, Savory and Simple. When it was originally published, it was spiral bound. That way, it could be laid flat on the counter as the cook tries one of the recipes. How many cookbooks do you own?oh, my , I do have quite a collection and sad to say .I rarely really cook anymore,  oh, I was quite the collector back in my 30’s and 40’s!  I am giving some of them away to my granddaughters this Christmas.  Our youngest us quite the lil chef!

8) In 2005, when "Something More" was topping the country charts, Paul McCartney won a People's Choice Award for his concert tour. Do you have any plans to enjoy music performed live between now and the end of the year? A Christmas Cantata or two, I should think!

9) Random question: Who received the most recent compliment you gave?our daughter.  She surely deserves many compliments. She is quite a gal, friend, daughter, and mother!

Friday 's Fave Five

Hosted by Susanne!

Oh, my, what a week.  I never dreamed I would see the  horrors of  what is happening to Israel this week. My thoughts and prayers  have been with  them as  I know that   they re God's own people  since  the  beginning.    My prayers are  that  through this  horrible shaking their eyes will be opened and they will  know that Jesus Christ is Lord of all!!! But  I, also, pray for their attackers. They have become the   hands and feet of Satan whose great desire is to rob, steal, and  destroy and  especially the apple of God's eye!  Yes,  these attackers have  done horrible things…..  ,Unforgivable things,  but  they are, also,  part of God's creation..  And His  hope is that they will turn from their wickedness and live...  know  the Living God, Jehovah...  That  they will turn from their  wicked ways. I pray for  their souls..   that  they might  see the light from God and lay down their arms and   choose   life instead...  Life for  others and themselves,,  through the  redemptive work  of Christ the Lord!  The end is so near,    we should wish   that all would turn and    repent from their sins and  claim Jesus as their Savior!  Time is short for  everyone!

First of all, I am thankful for our church!  I love  the people and our pastors  so much.  I met with one of the pastors Sunday evening after our    class,  and  we spoke about my desire to  get involved in ministry. Ive been a member now for two years and  even at age 73, I  felt I   needed  to  be more involved. The  ministry that  really needed  help was  the Bereavement Meal  Committee.  Well,  I wasn't taken back on  hearing that,  I have previously  chaired the social committee at two other  large churches.  So If knew I had it in me to  chair  this one, too. So I  agreed  and am so blessed  by saying yes!!  I  have spoken to the other two women who  are  on this committee , but  because of   complications in their lives they couldn't  take up the leadership. I know they will be  great helpers  and  I am  just so  blessed  to  be  in this position! I see it as a great ministry for  sharing love and  comfort to the hurting and the  ones who  need  it most!  I smile about this each time I think on it!!!

Monday,  I spoke with  Amanda  about  things   our granddaughters need for the new school year,  They re growing so fast,. I knew  that  the 50% off sale  at Land's End would be  a great place to start    getting my Christmas  list together. I ordered  leggings,  and   fleece lined pants..  They do live in New England! I ordered  socks and  turtle necks   two of each of these  items.. pjs   and more    I can't think of  right now..   But I was grateful for the nice  sale! I  will have  a ton to wrap one of these days.

Tuesday, I made it back to church for Women[s Bible Study.  We are doing a study on the 7 feasts.  It is  amazing and   the homework is    something else..  Much writing to do each day,  but  I am learning so much.  We just finished  Passover and  will start  on homework today  on  Unleavened Bread!  This has been a wonderful way for  me to  meet new ladies with which I really enjoy  sharing !

Wednesday, Lynn and I attended our  Wednesday morning Bible Study..  and oh my..  I  find it hard to believe that    the  churches  do not preach  in these days on  the Minor prophets.  But our teacher  is a student of the Hebrew and the Greek,  and he has written books on  this topic  for years.I  cannot go into all  that is there,.  but I highly recommend that  we all read and study  the books of Hosea, Joel, Amos,  Obadiah, and Jonah. It all speaks of the    day of the Lord when God   decides if  the nations are    fully    inclined toward Him or not.. ...  and  then there is the Awesome Day of the Lord which is a spiritual event   where  we will all stand  before Him to be  called to account..   This is all prior to the rapture..   In the Prophetic books    God  explains   how   terrible the  nations are ..  those that will be  judged  harshly  because they didn't turn back to Him and those that did  turn back to Him  as in Jonah!   The  first and second chapters of Joel    describe the  terrible nations  and chapter  two has God's solution,,  Yet,, many do not    heed his instructions..  It is powerful stuff. Again.  I encourage  those who will to read and study  these  very short books!!!

Thoday I had a lengthy  and wonderful phone chat with our daughter. It was so wonderful to have the time to jsut talk about the little things  in life.  Usually,  our calls are  too short for my liking.    but today  wasn't ....just wonderful!   Thank you, Lord!!!

Tuesday 4 October

October

Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.  Hosted by Annie!

Here on the sea coast the weather is very chilly.  We are in the low 50s by night and the low 60's by day. Leaves are turning and will be falling soon.

1.  What does this picture make you think about? It reminds me so much of the area around my grandfather’s dairy farm. The farm ran right along Coal Creek, so very much like the creek in the photo!
2. If you could spend a week in that cottage would you do it and who would you bring along with you?I don’t know. That cottage looks a little more rustic than I like. I do enjoy electricity! If it was with running water, and it’s conveniences like indoor plumbing and electricity, I would love to spend a week there with hubs , of course, and another cousin and his wife. It would be fun to play games, dine together and reminisce about old times.
3.  What kind of meal do you think represents October best?  I love October stews and soups.  A savory potato soup, or a beef, potato, carrot, onion stew.  Yum. With home baked bread to sop up the bowl with! How about cookie or cake or dessert? For dessert, I would love a butterscotch merengue pie, or an apple sauce with caramel icing cake, just like Grannie used to make.,
4.  Thinking of October, what song would go well with the month? What song would go well with this picture?Of course, the Autumn Leaves came to mind. But I love instrumental old songs of the 60’s like Stranger in the Shore, or old movie soundtracks like Breakfast at Tiffany’s.  Oh, there are too many to recount!

I am working on this post, while halfway  watching a Hallmark movie.  I have been quite busy today working on finishing up my homework for my Bible Study class tomorrow as well as switching the channel back and forth through the day checking on the Israeli situation.

              ♥♥ Thinking and pondering ♥♥
I, like many , have been so undone by the war.   We had friends , a church group in our community, who very recently arrived in Israel and were trapped there near the airport and there have been so many prayers going up . Praise God they finally got out today on an Ethiopian Air plane to Ethiopia.. They are back in the air with several more stops and layovers but are so glad to be on their way home! Whew!

                    ♥♥How am I feeling ♥♥
It has been a difficult weekend to be sure!  Between all that and trying to get my very involved homework done, I have a bit of a headache and am just thankful to be home really wish I could just hunker down here fir a day or two. Oh,
I know once .I get back to church , and class it will be wonderful. Our book is called  7 Feasts.  This week we studied the impact of the Passover  on the OT as  well as on Christianity in the NT.  Very dynamic!

Tuesday 4. Television

 Hosted by Annie

Televison

It's time for  Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 and I am glad you have come to participate.

A Family Affair

Television has become a large part of people's lives so it might be nice to discuss it and it's impact on our lives.

1.  Do you have a TV in your home or perhaps more than one?we have one in our den, and one upstairs.  Hubs mainly watches the one in the den, And I watch the one upstairs the most.  We just have very differing likes.

2.  Which programs do you like to watch? I really enjoy various Christian leaders such as Gary Hamrick of  Cornerstone Chapel near Washington, DC.  I love how he teaches what we need to know  about the times in which we live but through the Word.

I ,also, love Allen Jackson of  World Outreach in Murfreesborough, TN.

I like to watch select Hallmark movies. I am not in favor of the woke changes taking place at Hallmark, however. I like to watch vintage tv on YouTube, and home and cooking programming.

3.  Could you do without your TV or is it on most of the time when you are home? I think of tv more as company .  Lots  of time I have it on and am not watching it….

4.  Is there a TV character that stands out in your mind for any reason at all? I cannot think of just one who stands out.. I mean at this moment, I really enjoy Dick Van Dyke and as I peruse YouTube if I see a program highlighting him, I always enjoy watching him.  Maybe there is more than one or maybe there is a cast of a show you found memorable . I love the casts of vintage shows.  I just rarely find anything current on tv that appeals to me.
