Thankful

Hosted by Annie!

Hello friends and welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.

Thanksgiving Day is about here. Let's talk about the holiday and thankfulness.

1. Whether you are from the USA or not, thankfulness is beneficial to a nation and people.  Is it a natural thing for you to think of being thankful or is it something you must be reminded about?  As a child of God I am naturally thankful.. I list my many blessing every week in my Gracelaced journal which I recommend  to anyone who enjoys journaling!

2.  Plimoth Plantation is the site of the original settlement and everything is authentic to the 1600's including how they speak. Have you been to Plymouth Rock? No.    How about the Plimoth Plantation (yes that is the proper spelling). No, but since I am in Massachusetts as I type, I should!. Would you like to go visit these places?     What places are you thankful for having seen?    I love historical sites and am very happy to live in Virginia! As a previous fourth grade teacher I have tour every historic site in the Commonwealth!

3. Do you tune into the Macy's Parade ? We used to, but not much any more!! Too busy in the kitchen!

4. What will you be eating on Thanksgiving Day this year?  My son in law is cheffing this time around!  He has a very specific manner of prepping the “bird”! It is called Porchetta style! But don’t ask me what that entails! …let’s just say he had been prepping the meal since Monday!

Tuesday 4. Fall

Fall Y'all.. how's it going?

Hosted by Annie!
 Happy Fall Y'all

So, can we talk about how your autumn is going this year? Maybe we can get you to post a photo  or two
of your area in autumn...big changes or not.

1. Are leaves still falling where you are or are they done now? Have they even changed yet?The maples have fallen and have been raked, but we have 4 large oaks which have barely turned so we wait before we can get them all up!

2.  Does anyone in your family go hunting? Have you ever gone? Would you tell us about it? The generation before me were the hunters.  I love to fish, but hubs doesn’t, so no we don’t go hunting!

3. Who does the raking  at our house?  I used to help, but no more. Hubs has his own routine, but it is a very large hilly property. I can barely stand to be outside because of the mold!

4. Is football on your menu for fall? What teams get you cheering?
We cheer football to an extent. Both our daughter and SIL graduated from Virginia Tech, and they have had several difficult coaching seasons since Beamer left, who was coach during their time at Tech.  We aren’t as into Tech football these days, but we do love the college!  Lynn just sort of gets excited about a team and will watch the games, but I have better things to do!

It has been a beautiful day but I have been extremely busy. I packed fir our two week trip to see our kids, I sorted and planned for a church ministry I am charge of.  I am the bereavement meal planner and implementer… we have several folks in our church who are not doing well.   I always have to be prepared for any eventuality.   I am new to this ministry and my women helpers will be out of town  a bit as well. So .I am taking my ministry info with me so I can lead from 7 states away. But most of all  I am praying for good health and miracles while we are away!
                ♥♥ Right now I am ♥♥
I also made a pumpkin pie and some maple pecan whipped cream to serve at a lady’s get together tonight. It is safely tucked in the fridge and I’m just doing this post and also trying to relax.  I have about an hour before li leave for church

               ♥♥ Thinking and pondering ♥♥

It has been quite a time since I was so connected to church ministry and I love the electric charge that comes with doing God’s work. I love this committee even though I’m really new at it,  but once our team gets to provide a meal, I just know the love and encouragement we can give will be so rewarding. I remember well the meals the church provided my family back at the church following the funeral of each of my parents. It meant so much to me!

Friday’s Fave Five

                                                Hosted by Susanne

I cannot believe that I’ve been so busy that it has been two weeks since I posted on this meme… but there have many prayer meetings and I’m doing two very deep Bible Studies so I suppose that is my excuse, and I do know each weekend when I realize I missed this yet again, I felt pretty bad! It seems I don’t have a whole lot to write about but let’s just start!

Sunday’s have been pretty hectic the last month.. of course, there is church, then we always dine out for lunch with our best friends from church, from which we usually get back home around 2:30 .. just enough time to get comfortable before it is time to be back to church Sunday night. Then we are home by eight and that is when I enjoy getting cosy in bed and watch a good movie etc. so that’s our Sundays.

Monday is a day we have the whole day to get our agenda under way. This week I worked on  taking down autumn decor to make way for Christmas… you might question why… because we leave in less than a week on our journey to New England to celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, and our youngest’s 8 th birthday.  We plan to take our time driving. ..over two days.. we generally take several state highways, and try to miss especially  Interstate 81 which is HORRIBLE.     So,  I am working every empty day on decorating for Christmas which I really enjoy.  I, also , have some beautiful medieval Christmas cd’s I love to play while decorating. These are gorgeous but not too Christmassy. Just right for enjoying during these early days.

Tuesday is a Bible study day… at church I am taking a ladies’ Bible Study on the 7 feasts.  This study has been so enjoyable and eye opening. It is amazing the many connections the original feast days have through scripture and especially in relation to the coming of Christ. I love the discussion, but the homework is a bit grueling.  Much writing and thinking, but it really pays off.  By the time I get home I’m ready to eat lunch and settle into a lazy afternoon. I usually pick myself up around 3-4 to do something worthwhile around the house.. especially to think about supper!

Wednesday is about the same as Tuesday.  Hubs and I both are in a couples study that again is quite intense.  We are studying the Minor prophets and how they relate to the church in the end times. We love our group and appreciate the huge amount of study our teacher does in preparation!

Thursday, today, I enjoyed driving up into the mountain to my dear friend , Gerri’s home.  It was her turn to host our bimonthly prayer meeting. There are 5 of us ladies who meet, but today there were 4. I so love this group because we are so close , like sisters, we can be completely  candid about our true prayer needs and concerns.  Today we shared for two hours over coffee and goodies, and prayed together for an hour. It was glorious! The day was so gorgeous it may be our last warm and sunny day for some time.  So I cherished the drive back into the city! I barely had time to grab a half of a ham sandwich before I had my second hair cut in the new salon .  I am so bad I couldn’t remember my new hairdresser’s name.  I wrote it down in my wallet this time! But she is very good and I’m getting more compliments about my hair and paying 20 dollars less. So glad I made the move!

Friday, tomorrow, the day starts out with my usual diet breakfast and then on to Weight Watchers to weigh in. So far I have lost  36 pounds…since June. They say losing it slowly is good  but I am anxious to make it 40. On Friday nights we actually go back to our Wednesday Bible Teacher’s home to pray with Intercessors for America. There are so many things to pray for  and we are honored to be called to do this , now for almost twenty years.

So this is much as every week goes, except there are monthly prayer meetings  depending  on what week it is.  I am not complaining, nor not trying to impress, I am thankful to be spending our days doing something for His kingdom.  Since hubs and I really have no other family than these wonderful folks we have chosen to spend this precious time together, it truly is a blessing!

Tuesday 4. Songs

Tuesday 4 hosted by Annie!

Hi Friends and welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.    Are there many people who dislike music?  I doubt it, don't you?  Songs can have a lot of meaning and bring out a good helping of emotion whether happy, sad, nostalgic or funny.    Let's talk about it.

1.  Tell us 4 songs that define your life.   I know.. this one is hard but it's not written in stone!  Feel free to be serious or silly as you choose.  Maybe even some songs that you would like to describe your life!

1. The Impossible Dream

2.  IN A GADDA DA VIDA

3.Everything by Burt Bacharac

4. How We Need the River which is shared below

2. A song or songs  that are special to you in some way.  A very special song to me is a worship song. How We Need the River!

I absolutely love this song!

3.A song you and your sweetheart loved, or maybe your Mom's or Dad's favorite? When Hubs and I dated for 5 years. … 2of which we were separated by different colleges and 2 years  I didn’t see him at all as he was serving in Germany.  But when we were together, we had a special place looking over the airport, the beautiful lights on hot summer nights, we loved to sing along with our favorite songs. Our favorites were by Dennis Yost  and the Classics 4.  Sunny, Stormy, Spooky, and our favorite,  Traces.

4. A movie soundtrack you have enjoyed, or a theme to a TV program or commercial  you like/liked. Name as many as you like! If you have no favs, then how about ones you remember well?  Some songs just stick in your head! The first one to come to mind was Man of  La Mancha!  I was an avid Spanish student…Took it all through Junior and high school . I was fortunate to go to the Broadway play locally, but with real celebrities performing at the college I eventually attended. That sent me over the moon so of course I purchased the sound track and listened to it so many times.  I became quite a soloist singing the female songs along with the recording. I enjoyed it so much I saved my money and purchased the sound track to The Sound of Music.  I held my own singing along with Julie. So I got the cd and loved singing along in the car!

For anyone who needs a dose of Iron Butterfly:

Saturday- cloudy, 60/45
I do not particularly enjoy weather that fluctuates so much from cold to hot.  We are now experiencing another warm spell, meanwhile, we are so terrible dry, we are now in a fire threat mode. I do hope we really get the much needed rain forecast for Friday. I like the weather to be seasonable and not so extreme.  Many friends say, oh, I love the high 70’s hoping for them all through the year….as one with bad allergies, I do enjoy cold snaps with crisp clear air!

♥♥ As I look outside my window ♥♥
All of the flowers are gone and the beds have been cleared. The ground is so hard and dry, the grass is dying  and there are large brown dirt patches in areas.

                ♥♥ Right now I am ♥♥
I am working on this post as I watch  Fox News . I enjoy Fox and Friends bright and early each morning.

               ♥♥ Thinking and pondering ♥♥
I am praying for  a beautiful, calm, uninterrupted holiday this year.  For  us, we are celebrating both Thanksgiving and Christmas in a two week time frame as we get together with our children and grands!

                    ♥♥How am I feeling ♥♥
My allergies are acting up.  Sunday at church, every time we stood to sing I felt dizzy for a bit.  I get vertigo sometimes with allergies that is so debilitating!  I went off of my shots late last spring as I couldn’t tell they were helping much, but this fall season with the dust in the air is really taking its toll on my sinuses!
.
               ♥♥ What am I Wearing♥♥
I am wearing my cinnamon colored tunic and navy knit slacks. The pants are a size too big, but they feel so comfy so I’m keeping them to enjoy this winter!

             ♥♥ On the breakfast plate ♥ ♥

I am enjoying my usual fruited yogurt and coffee.

♥♥ On the dinner plate ♥♥

I plan on making a grilled chicken chef salad for supper! I am trying to be very diligent this week.  If I can lose 3 more pounds I’ll have lost 40 pounds since June.

♥♥ On my reading pile ♥♥

Chapters from I1 kings
, Hebrews, Hosea, Psalms,

♥♥On my TV this week ♥

We loved a Christmas movie on YouTube entitled A Christmas Snow..  Actually, the little girl in the story reminded me so much of our youngest granddaughter.
I spend a good amount of time watching Hallmark movies.
