It is actually Sunday and it looks as if this may be our last sunny day before several days of rain! I am so excited that our daffodils are almost ready to bloom!

♥♥ Right now I am ♥
Right now I am working on this post, and watching home and garden tv.  I love Hometown with Erin and Ben Napier! This is probably my favorite fix it program!

♥♥ Thinking and pondering ♥
I am about 5 days following my lithotripsy.  My kidney stone was really pulverized, but it takes days to pass! Along with this there were stents added to help the passing along.  And they tend to give you the feeling you need to go.. like every 15 minutes. It is slowly getting better, but it has been a difficult 5 days. I don’t get the stents out until after 2 weeks.  But tomorrow I intend to rejoin my world.  Hope it all works out well!

♥♥How am I feeling ♥♥
I am feeling pretty good to know that tomorrow should be a great day.  I need to get back to therapy, and I am really looking forward to a ladies’ event at church tomorrow!

I watch a few cooking and home shows. I am into watching and especially listening to Hauser, the magnificent cellist on YouTube. I actually ordered a cd of his from Amazon. Part of my Amazon order came today, but, alas, not my cd, but I did get my beautiful edition of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Yes, I read it a couple of times in high school. It was my favorite book. I hadn’t given it a lot of thought until all the interest in Jane during this month on Hallmark. I realized I could not wait to read it again. And my lovely book will look so nice on a side table by the fireplace ! I cannot wait to get into my new book!

Friday Fave Five

Hosted by Suzanne. This week has flown by,  but probably because it has been so unusual. So Monday and Tuesday were fairly regular, but come Wednesday.. well, I’ll  tell you all about it!

Monday, I started physical therapy yet again.  This is probably my 4 th or 5 th time, but each subsequent time I had a specialized issue.  This time it was to strengthen my back and legs since I was  under the weather all fall with bursitis of the hips. I am very thankful for therapy.  The therapists are all so caring and helpful!

Tuesday.. I spent the day preparing for what was coming on Wednesday!  I knew I’d be under the weather a few days. And I was!

Wednesday… I had an appointment at the hospital for a lithotripsy! A procedure to blast a very large stone in my left kidney. Thankfully, it all went well! The recuperation isn’t that fun.. it doesn’t hurt from the ultrasonic blast, but the stone was very well pulverized so I had to drink tons of water to wash it away. Well, there are reasons why going to the bathroom was quite painful.  Mainly because several stents were put in to open the pathway for the stone material to exit.  So I was  on pain meds.  Which can mess me up a bit. I’ll just say I’m glad it  is mostly over now, but yesterday was no picnic. This morning, was not great, but thankfully this afternoon, Friday!  I am pretty back to normal.

So for a reward to myself I ordered a couple of really cute spring tops in a smaller size from J Jill.  That happens to be my favorite clothing store!

Another very fun thing I love to do is to send out personalized birthday cards using the Jacqui Lawson Card app . our pastor sends out a list for birthdays for the upcoming month and it just so happened 5 guys from our connect group have birthdays in March. So I just finished creating their personalized cards and set them up to be sent online on their special day! So that’s it for me this week.  I am mainly glad it us all behind me now!  God bless you all!

Happy Weekend!

Tuesday 4

First Things First...

Hosted by Annie

First High Heels by Amos Sewell
Hello! It's a new week and another installment of Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4. I debated over the word episode and ended up with installment but I am still not satisfied. Oh well, here is is whatever it is and I do hope you enjoy joining in.

Let's talk about firsts in your life.

1. Do you remember your first pair of grown up style shoes, maybe high heels?  I do very well!  I got a new pair of shoes for Easter  my 11th year.  I was in the fifth grade  and my shoes  had squash heels...  black patent leather.. I was so proud of them. But I ,also,  had to wear a crinoline.. the dress looked geeky without it.  So  with my new shoes, gloves, new hair band with  pearls, and my crinoline we  stepped out  for  lunch at the People's Drug store. after church. Now this particular one was very nice.  They had  booths  that  were  circular  if you needed one with  6  people.  I had no problem  until  I  needed catsup from the next booth for my fries! So I gracefully slid out  of  the booth and  the next booth was so large I had to place my knee on the seat to  reach over and grab the catsup.  As I  stretched back  to standing position.  I didn't realize that my  heel had gotten caught up in the hem of my dress.. and what a hem it  must of been, for standing on one leg, as I  turned  to  progress back to our booth. I  fell  down right  in the middle of the snack bar area!. AS I went down my crinoline went up right over my head! Whoa!  I was drowning in a mass of  frills and lace.. what a spectacle I made in Peoples drug store in 1961 on Easter Day!..  I suffered complete humiliation. I mean, I am sure  there were  kids from my class in that particular store.  Nothing I could do  but smile  and  offer a wee laugh along with the crowd!..

How did that go?I never wore  my squash heels ever again!

Squash heels of the 60’s were not quite so high, but this is a good example!

2. When was your first date and do you recall their name and where you went and what you did?

My first date was with Barry. I thought he was adorable and was thrilled  even though he did have an ever so slight over bite.. but that added to his charm!  He had  gorgeous brown eyes and  beautiful  dark hair.  But we didn't go anywhere on that date. I was 15 and  mom and dad planned a cookout and after that Barry and I sat out on the porch and rocked  in our glider, listening to music waft through the living room window  until he had to go home.  We dated all that school year  and  when summer came  we were both too busy  with family stuff to  keep  it up  so  we  just didn't see each  other  after that... he  graduated that summer and  started work in the fall!..  I remember he had a  blue  1957 Ford.  That was pretty exciting. When we did  go out  we usually  went to  Lendy's and got a soda!.

3. Do you have any memories of your first job? MY mom was the buyer at GC Murphy's and had  a good relationship with the boss, so  I  got  jobs  at every  school break.,   Christmas, Easter, and of course summer  from the  time I turned 16 til I  went off to college! It helped to pay for my  personal items... like panty hose which took quite a bit. I started out  just a walker. going around the departments  straightening up the merchandise. I hated women's panties.  They were always askew! Or  the medicine aisle..  bringing the next bottle  forward so each shelf  was straight. But,  at Christmas I was in the candy, nuts and pop corn  corner. That was really busy.  I  had to weigh out the sticky cut up fruit for fruit cakes.  My arms  would stick in the inside  of the bag  as I measured out the fruit.  It was a miserable job.. doing that all day long  til 9pm.

4. What do you remember about your first home away from Mom and Dad? In the spring 1972 I graduated from college and we married..   After the honeymoon hubs went back to  the military and I stayed and  had a job to finish out a local school year .  That is a whole new story.  but I divert. I flew to Germany  that summer and we  set up housekeeping in a 3 room flat in the top of a chalet type  dwelling. We had no hot water.. We had to set a fire with wood in the  bottom of our  water heater for bathing. Hubs did that  after he got home in the evening.  I just heated water in a pan on the stove as  I needed it  during the day!  There  were many other  things outside my wheel house living in a foreign country,,, not knowing the language....  but  you learn to  make do. Our landlord lived right  behind us so the wood and in fact the oil for our furnace were available  in their back yard shed.  so I regularly made the circuit there to get our  supplies.  Once it  got cold enough to use the furnace  which was a stand alone heater  by the front door. I would  pour the  right amount of oil in the   slot and  turn it on.  During winter I kept  pots of water on the  grill on top of the heater   and had  warm water   to wash my hands etc.  We couldn't call and  chat with mom and dad.. so I  purchased a lot of cassette tapes   and  would tape long  stories about  life  there to my parents,,  where we had gone,  sites we had seen.  We  drove  through the countryside every weekend and saw many castles and met wonderful people!  Then I sent  the tapes  home every week. I wish they had  not taped over  mine  to send  me  messages back.  We had no phone.. or tv.. only the radio.  We had  US Forces radio ..  so  it was  a great option.  At night they had  radio shows on which were very entertaining and after  they went off, we went to bed....   anyway Hubs always had to be on the base  well before daylight,  and usually didn't get home before dark!

I am working on this post as I also watch the morning news. Hubs is looking forward to the delayed race today, I am sort of dreading going to my second physical therapy today.  I am rather sore, but I suppose that is a good thing!

♥♥ Thinking and pondering ♥
I will be so glad when Wednesday is behind me.. I am having a lithotripsy to blast a super large kidney stone. It seems I have some kind of surgical procedure every year. I suppose it comes at this time of life!

♥♥How am I feeling ♥♥
Praise the Lord that there is no pain related to my kidneys so I  am very grateful for that!  The stone has not moved.. so it could be much worse.

   ♥♥ What am I Wearing♥♥
I am wearing my exercise pants and fuchsia  tunic. I like to wear longing fitting shirts while I  to roll around in those therapy tables. I am not agile enough to move from position to position.  I imagine it is quite a joke if I was being filmed. Mercy!

Sunday Stealing. Music

   Hosted by Bev!

Welcome to Sunday Stealing. This feature originated and published on WTIT: The Blog. Here we will steal all types of questions from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent questions. Cheers to all of us thieves.

Name a song that...

1. You enjoy, in another language.    Not really through the whole song, butte first song I thought of was the theme song the Alfred Hitchcock film. The Man Who Knew Too Much ….  Que Sera, Sera, sung by Doris Day. I was a very young teen ,  maybe 12 when I first heard it, and loved it.. always a favorite!

2. Recently introduced you to a new singer .. well, not a singer, but I have very recently been introduced to a new musician  whom I really enjoy.. He is Hauser, an extremely talented cellist  I listen to him every night now asvIngo to sleep, and .I am sleeping better than I have in years.

3. You listen to to energize  I listen to my playlist that includes music from the 60’s 70’s and 80’s.

4. Is your favorite song from a musical. No, but I would  be very hard pressed to pick a favorite song.  I love sooooo many songs.  I just love music! All kinds for every mood!

5. Reminds you of an old love  my hubby and I  used to park out at the airport when we were in high school and listen to WLS radio and sing along with all the songs. I remember fondly, Traces, The Letter,  and so many more.  Those two came to mind first!

6. Make you think of one of your children  we only have one, and she is a musician… The first song .I thought of was her last piano recital.. Clare De Lune.

7. Makes you smile when you hear it. Hauser playing Adagio in Strings.

8. You love but is quite unknown  I really enjoy listening to Danny Gibson who has a series of cds he has recorded..  a Tyler of New Age  instrumental..  dreamy music.  Very  beautiful.

9. That annoys you.RAP

10. That your parents used to listen to. My parents collected 101 Strings Albums of various styles of music. That is what I remember about our home on sultry hot summer nights ,… listening to those tunes.

11. From your early years of childhood  when daddy bought me my record player I got one record.   Bozo at the circus with a story book that went along with it!

12. That has a color in the title.Yellow Submarine

13. That needs to be played loud.  In a Gadda da vida

14. That is perfect for a road trip. the them to Rt 66.

15. That reminds you of yourself.  I have loved so many genres of songs and  had so many favorite, it is hard to say… I think I would say today that it is classical music.  Or a compilation of music from the Secret Garden .

Saturday 9

Saturday 9  hosted by Samantha!

Paper Doll

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!

Saturday 9: Paper Doll (1943)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) The song is about a fellow who is exasperated by men flirting with his girl. Do you have a jealous streak?   I am afraid  I   can  become a bit jealous  at times.  Not a great attribute,  but it is true!

2) He's blue after a quarrel with Sue. Did you exchange harsh words with anyone recently?  It seems at  my  age these days  a bit of thoughtless harshness can  rush out of my mouth. I used to be so meek.. Im not sure  where this  comes from,.  but I do  struggle with this one, as well, at times!!!

3) "Paper Doll" was #1 for 12 weeks in 1943-44, sold 11 million copies and remains one of the best-selling singles of all time. Had you heard it before today?  Yes....  I suppose I'm old enough to have heard it on the radio!!!

4) As kids, the Mills Brothers worked on their harmonies in front of their father's Piqua, OH, barbershop, much to the delight of passers by. Do you often encounter street musicians in your neighborhood?  Not where I live ..

5) The Mills Brothers were a long way from that street corner when, in 1936, they became the first African Americans to perform for the British Royal Family. It's about 4,000 miles from Piqua to London. What's the farthest you've ever been from home? At age 22 I moved  4217 miles away from home with my new husband to live with him while he was in the military in Germany.

6) In the early 1930s, the Mills Brothers not only performed songs on radio, they sang jingles for Standard Oil and Crisco. What commercial can you recall having seen (or heard) lately?  This is hard,  I leave the room during commercials. I have no use for them.

7) In 1943, when "Paper Doll" was popular, WWII was raging and the US Mint began producing steel pennies because copper was needed for ammunition. Do you have any pennies in your pocket or wallet right now? I may have one or two.  It seems that stores do not make change with pennies much any more.

8) Also in 1943, a bottle of Coke was a nickel. When did you most recently have a soft drink? What was it?  I only drink diet Dr. pepper, ands only a very few restaurants here serve them.

9) Random question: Have you learned more from your successes, or your failures?

I think .I would say my failures.  I mean who wants to be a failure, so I pay attention to what I need to do to be a better person or achieve a good standing in my vocation, or whatever it may be.

Tuesday 4. Banana Splits

Banana Splits

Hosted by Annie

Amos Sewell's Banana Split

Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 where we ask you just four questions weekly.
The painting is named Banana Splits and is by Amos Sewell.   It tells a story but I think the story is left up to us to figure out.

1. What do you think the man in the painting is thinking? It appears the middle aged fellow is trying to enjoy his light lunch of tea and sandwich! He looks aghast at his  lunch counter companions : thinking how on earth could they possibly eat all of that! He has a shocked look of disgust, noted  by that quizzically judgmental brow!

2.  In your story what  kind of sandwich and beverage is he having?it appears to be tea, and I would think a watercress sandwich! This very fastidious man  seems to be quite careful to maintain his slimming  and healthy  eating habits .

3.  Do you think he is a stranger to the children or does he know them?  Why do you think so? I think he is a stranger to the children, on else he would not be shocked with disdain toward them!

4. Do you keep ice cream at home?  Indeed!      Banana splits usually have 3 or 4 scoops of ice cream.   What flavor ice cream should be in your banana split?  I think in my 73 years I have had one banana split and ended up with a terrible bellyache.  So I turn my nose up now to the notion! But when it comes to ice cream in my freezer, it would be Private Selection Denali Moose Track ice cream! Yum!

♥♥How am I feeling ♥♥
It seems I have a new batch of health concerns.  I really do believe I am being tested.I don’t wish to go into them all, but I do have the least of them coming up in the next week or so.  I need a lithotripsy  to crush an extremely large kidney stone. I had my blood work Friday, and the  procedure date is set!
Bleh!

We prayer sisters love to treat each other to birthday lunches out for their special day. Today we are celebrating, Judy’s wonderful life! We are going rather informal today, so I am wearing my new dark navy jeans with a navy print shirt. For warmth I am wearing My cream colored Irish poncho over it. I have been cold for the last few days. I think where we are dining has a tendency to be drafty so I am taking care to be warm!
