Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4...
Hopefully everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving and you may be looking forward to Chanukah and Christmas both of which are December 25th. Chanukah is the day the temple, which had been desecrated was rededicated and the huge light within was restored to earth! That light represented the presence of God on earth with man. Also, winter begins in just a couple of weeks....
1,Do you have plans for the coming holidays? AS a matter of fact, I am today deep in the throes of planning my Christmas Tea Party! today is baking day.. I will mix up my scone dough and wrap it up and pout it in the fridge to keep til tomorrow when I will roll out 12 sconces and bake them or my 11:30 tea time party. I cannot tell you how much I have planned so this party will not knock me out.. I have a dear friend who is making the tea sandwiches and her wonderful fudge recipe. I will also be making Christmas Morsels and a cracker and cream cheese spread. I think it will be lovely!
Yesterday we went to the Country Market and purchased two glorious poinsettias and a couple of gifts to take to an Open House we got o next week. Of course, this Saturday we will dine with our church at a catered meal, and our musical will be Sunday night. I am pleased to get things accomplished early as we will be leaving mid month to travel to be with our family!
2.What foods do you look forward to during these upcoming holidays? Well, I enjoy the sconces and sweets we will have for the Tea, but our son in law is an excellent chef and we always look forward to the delicacies he has planned for the holidays!!!
3.Are there traditions for the holidays that you look forward to each year? Well, yesterday we went to the Country Store to purchase some greenery and poinsettias and Hubs was not into buying the expensive large wreath for over the garage door, but remembering that was always our tradition, he decided to go for it and was very happy to see the result! Also, how do you spend the days ahead of the holidays.. shopping? Lately, we do most of our gift shopping online. We only go out for the trinkets that our friends and family might enjoy. Cooking? Every other year we do travel to our families home so on those years I am exempt from cooking which suits me fine. I do like to take some fabulous country ham and sausage that just isn't found in New England! Listening to Music. We make our travel time last for 2 1/2 days so we always prepare our Apple Play for the car to enjoy on our way up.. The kids just use Siri to play their favorites... Hallmark movies? We are not allowed to watch tv while with the kids so we have been enjoying Hallmark ever since the Christmas movies started being broadcast! Do tell!!!
4. What advice can you give for making the holidays memorable and bright? I do think traditions are very important. especially for children.. and it is so important to remember the reason for the season and spend time with family in reverence and remembrance of the Nativity and what it all means to us!!
