Tuesday 4

Do You Wanna Build a Snowman? Tuesday 4 #4

Hosted by Ann here

Welcome to another Tuesday 4 invented by Toni Taddeo and kept in memory of her.
Do You Want to Build a Snowman is a song from the movie Frozen, but I think it would make for some great questions too.

Here we go:

1. Have you built snowmen, women or even entire families of snow people like little sister Tootie did in Meet Me in St. Louis?
Did you use a carrot for the nose? Tell us all about how it .

Below is a vintage photo from the 60's when my sweet cousins came and got snowed in at our house!

Yes, we always decked our snow friends out with funny faces made from found items. coal, rocks, carrots, buttons whatever we had at hand.Of course, we finished it all off with a hat and scarf..Dad would sometimes let us use his old pipe, too!

This is a more recent snowman made last week by my grands and their family!

I think the fun was in the rolling!

2. Are you hoping for snowmen to melt soon in hotter weather? Tell us about your favorite time of year and please let us know why you love it. List some ingredient of that season that make it special for you.
I like for the seasons to pan out just as they are scheduled to do... When spring comes, I want it to spring about for its allotted time...

Summer is not my favorite season unless it is a mild and glorious one.. hot, humidity is not my friend! When it comes right down to it full-blown spring and autumn are my favorite seasons. I like the mild clear days of both..they both have qualities that charm me associated with the crisp air, the vibrant color, and promises they both carry... one for newness of life and one for the coming time for rest and recuperation!

3.Remember bundling up as a child? It took so long to do then you had to go potty and all those layers had to come off again!
Is dressing up something you enjoy doing ? Why?

I remember well the layers and the bundling... and we are into that a lot when we travel to Boston to see our girls.. For me,, I do not like to get too bundled.. I've always been sort of hot natured. so layering is good, but , mainly, so I can unlayer later!

4. In Frozen, the little girl desperately wants to reconnect with her sister and reminds her of the happy times of building snowmen. Are you disconnected from anyone you'd love to reunite with?
What happy times with friends and siblings brings you fond memories and smiles to you?

I am always so happy to reconnect with my cousins. I have a favorite boy cousin with whom we share such wonderful memories of being at Grandma's.. unfortunately my photos are on my old computer.

Update: I haven’t been online because Tuesday

I went the dr and found out I have a flaming case of shingles!
NOT FUN!!

My girls loved the film and this song so much!

Winter questions stolen from Swap Bot
by Bev Syles, our host!

How do you get past the gray skies during winter?
I would be terribly sad to live in an area that didn't celebrate the 4 seasons.  I love them all... and in a way winter is a favorite.. it is a time of  resting and relaxing on cold dreary days by a  warm fire,  reading,  contemplating,  reflecting..  The other seasons are so much more busy and hectic,  but grey days of winter soothe my  physical being!!

Do you like snow? Why or why not?
I would bet you couldn't find a teacher who didnt appreciate snow!  And after retirement I enjoyed them because sometimes it meant hubs stayed home with me.. Now that   we are both retired,  we love them  but  I have to restrain HUbs from getting out there so quickly to shovel... I say let nature get a chance first!   I love to watch it snow, the  heavy  blankets  pulling the  balsom branches down to the ground.   I  become  sort of a grouch sometimes, because as we do live on a hill some of the  neighboring boys would like to  sleigh down our yard.  Well, I didn't like it for two reasons.  I was horrified someone would do into the street and we'd be to blame,  but I didn't like to see my snow get   marked up.

What are your favorite activities to do during the winter?

I  enjoyed sledding,  building snowmen,   and tramping around in the snow at home growing up.. In my vivid imagination I would   be  an artic explorer in the unknown  vastness of the  snow and ice!  But now I just love to watch it,  drink cocoas, it is a great time for me to get closer to God  as I appreciate His glorious creation!

What does a perfect winter day look like to you?

What are your favorite meals/food you enjoy eating during the winter?
Homemade soups, and chili,  large  breakfasts with sausage gravy and homemade biscuits,

Saturday 9

Welcome to Saturday: 9.
Hosted by Samantha!

Go Where Baby Lives (1957)

Unfamiliar with this week's song. Hear it here

1) The lyrics tell us that the girl of his dreams lives up on a hill. Is there a hill near your home? Or is the terrain pretty flat where you are?  Our home is on a hill which extends  much farther on up behind us!

2) Another clue to her whereabouts is that she's about a mile from town. Will you be staying close to home this weekend, or will you be traveling a mile or more?
Will be staying rather close to home for sure!

3) Sam admits she's crazy about the sax solo. Is there a particular musical instrument that you love to listen to?

Soulful piano!

4) This is the only record The Strollers made for States, a company based out of Chicago. States was only in existence for five years (1952-57) and this was the 63rd or 64 records released before they went out of business. Tell us about a business in your neighborhood that recently closed their doors.

hr MickOrMack 123119 p02 (copy)
This popular chain was  totally going strong through the 50's and 60's  and I could walk to one near my  home as a youngster.    Then as other  larger chains came into vogue one by one these neighborhood outlets  started to  fall out of favor.  Sad because everyone in the neighborhood had a  friendly  relationship with the manager  and the butcher.  I still remember Mr. Pedigo! Recently, this last remaining  dinosaur went into extinction!

5) More than 60 years after its initial release, this song enjoyed new popularity when Xfinity used it in commercials for their wifi. What company is your internet service provider? Are you happy with it?
It is our cable company and it is ok.

6) In researching this week's song, Sam googled "strollers" and was surprised to discover how many different types of baby buggies are available today. When did you most recently push a child in a stroller?
About 3 years ago  when our youngest grand daughter  rode in one!

7) In 1957, the year this song was released, President Eisenhower celebrated his second inaugural with a parade featuring more than 50 marching bands. The mercury never quite reached 45º that day. How's the weather outside your front door?
Sunny, blustery and in the 40's.

8) One of the best-selling books of 1957 was Peyton Place. This steamy saga of small town life launched two films, two television series, and several made-for-tv movies. Is there a book that you enjoyed that was successfully turned to a movie?
I was so happy to see a favored book,  The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society  was  put to film.. I accidentally fell upon the book at the  used book sale at our library..  The cover looked intriguing.  I actually loved the book more than the movie,  but the movie was charming, too!
9) A Peyton Place-inspired question: Can a man be physically unfaithful to a woman, but still love her?I   suppose a very carnal  pathetic excuse of a man could..  But I wouldn't want him.
