Friday's Fave Five

Hosted by Susanne!

Our lives are filled with blessings  each day..   We are  so grateful  for  the people God has put into our lives.  He has blessed us in so many ways..  and even though we are going through a trial  at this time  with my  need for a knee replacement,   I am assured in His word that  He is with me,  and will never abandon me.

             Psalm 84

                How lovely is Your dwelling place,

                  Lord, Almighty!

              My soul yearns, even faints,

    for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and my flesh cry out
    for the living God.
       Even the sparrow has found a home,
    and the swallow a nest for herself,
    where she may have her young—
a place near your altar,
    Lord Almighty, my King and my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in your house;
    they are ever praising you.

Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
    whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
As they pass through the Valley of Baka,
    they make it a place of springs;
    the autumn rains also cover it with pools.
They go from strength to strength,
    till each appears before God in Zion.

Hear my prayer, Lord God Almighty;
    listen to me, God of Jacob.
Look on our shield, O God;
    look with favor on your anointed one.

Better is one day in your courts
    than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
    than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
    the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
    from those whose walk is blameless.

                                                                Lord Almighty,

      blessed is the one who trusts in you.

This week  has been  a difficult one, we were out and about doing  important tasks, and I have been active around our home..  but, also, I have spent a bit of time  on my lounger, with my feet up and resting,  as,    due to physical  problems  for the last four years I am four years behind  to  have my knee addressed.  I finally will see the doctor in a bit over a week and  my prayer is that he will  have a date   set for me  that  would enable me to  have  my surgery  sooner rather than later..  I was told a month ago  it could be 6 months.   I  can't bear that!  I understand the hospital will  offer an advocate to help move things along. So I  rest in the presence of the Almighty and pray for His best for me.    This is not  a  crying  baby  post,  just a reality post..  learning to trust  the Lord  in times of trouble!

 The weather in my neck of the woods:::

Wednesday -75/59 few showers
Thursday - 82/60  partly sunny
Friday - 85/61 partly cloudy
Saturday -82/59 cloudy
Sunday - 76/56 showers

We are so enjoying the fall like weather and  look
forward to the actual change in the season coming
soon.  we certainly do need the rain that is coming
this week!

Right now:::    Besides working on this post., I have
been working on a homeschool project for our youngest granddaughter. As a retired teacher,I love honing my skills and  I   have written up   detective style  lessons  on  books  that are read  and reported on. Today I have been working on TheMouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary   for our fourth grader.

Something fun to share (a blog, a video, a tip):::
I love to watch shorts on Youtube..   this one gets me
every time!

Thinking and pondering:: I was thinking about what's for supper.  That is the hardest task I think I have at this  stage of life.  By the end of the day, I am just not that into  cooking, planning or anything of the like. And we do usually like to go out to eat except  with dear friends usually on the weekend! It just hit me... tonight we will have  fish sticks,  baked French fries and cole slaw!

On my tv:::   last time I wrote about old movies,  but  over the weekend  I enjoyed watching really old movies..starring Ginger Rodgers , like I'll Be Seeing You! It was so  sweet!!

On my to do list:::
Monday:  work on   my Investigation project for our  sweetheart, Viv! .... typing up  the  letter,  the files and   compelling the questions and activities!
Tuesday: go to Community Bible study meet  hubs for a brief lunch and come home and start on  this week's study.
Wednesday: continue working on files and case work
for the  next series of questions.   Our granddaughter
its an avid reader...  must stay on top of this !!!
Thursday: Take a break from  the paper work and  do
 a bit of purging upstairs.
Friday:  free day.. I have no idea

My simple pleasure:::Because I am at the age of  having memory issues  I  have found that  giving a bit of time to
some  online memory games  have been a good help for me.
I  enjoy crossword puzzles called, classic words, and
and vita mahjong.

Looking around the house:::  I will be so glad when all
the charities  we  send to will be  finished.  My dining
room table has been piled high with items for various
groups.. our last group  which we love to  do is  Operation Christmas Child  which we highly recommend.  But next
time we will not  use the dining room table for our
project  table. We are awaiting our boxes to fill and
we do so much joy  giving, but, also,  I love to set a lovely autumn table and that isn't happening until things
are squared away!

From the WORD!

Have a great week!!!

Friday's Fave Five

Hosted by Susanne!

It is so  wonderful to finally be in September... the summer heat/humidity  was  just about more than I could bear! I am sure many can agree.  But  finally, we are enjoying  such beautiful temps and skies...I feel like I can breathe again!

This week has flown by.. I can hardly believe it is Friday. .. and now that it is September,  so many things in my life are starting up,  I find that now the days will go by faster than ever.

Sunday was a great day.  We  so enjoy our church..  the teaching is  wonderful,  anyway, but this week  we had  one of our favorite missionaries  preach and he is so dynamic and  motivating  ....the time whizzed by.    And then it was so wonderful to have our  very good friends, Gerri and David  back from their week at the beach....  we have a standing date every Sunday to dine out together after church.... we were all on the same page  Sunday....  we were off to  Texas Roadhouse.. I love their Herb Crusted Chicken...   and this week it was  especially  good.    Thank you, Lord   for a wonderful  time with our dear friends!

Monday was a rather quiet day  as we  worked around the house.  I have been purging  things like books, magazines,,  and other  collections  that  seem to have taken over   several spots in our home.  One of these days  we have to  put  our home on the market and downsize into something easier  for both of us.  Poor Hubs  has so much to tackle every week..  our 3/4 acre  yard   is  a lot for him,  and  there are so many things to be done outside  as  fall and winter approach!  I have enjoyed  scouring  Zillow  looking at  new neighborhoods and   homes that  may suit our needs.  as much fun as it is to  dream, but it is also. rather  gloomy to think  we are entering into what I suppose you can call  our  last days...  giving up  the home where we raised our family and  made so many friends  is a daunting thing, indeed!

Tuesday  was a busy day..  Thank you, Lord for giving me the strength to attend to all that has to be done.. My  poor knee is 4 years  into   waiting for  a knee replacement,  but health   problems have    pushed   me  into  this situation where  walking is not only treacherous,  but quite painful. I will be so glad  when at the end of the month I will be released  by my heart doctor to  be able to attend to the knee,  but the   surgeon is quite booked.. so   I  trust God has  a plan for it all!  One night a week is always a fun relaxing  time with  a set of precious  friends and buddies from a previous church...  we meet at various  scheduled  restaurants  on the designated  evening. This time it was my favorite..  the deli! My goodness, there are about 20 of us who show up each  time.  But,  that is  20 of  about 50  who are in the list. Not every one makes it there each week, including us,  so  it is a joy to see who shows up!

Wednesday  This week  two birthdays were celebrated..  two very special  birthdays...  One is my  dear friend, Vicky,  who has been tending to her precious husband for a few weeks and hasn't been able to attend church.. thank you Lord,  he got a release from the doctors  to be able to  move forward with a coronary procedure he  has been needing.  The other    birthday  peeps  are my  Connect Croup ( Sunday School) teacher and his wife...  can you believe it,  they have the same birthday.  Well,  I am so pleased to be able to create the most  beautiful birthday cards online  using  Jacquie Lawson cards.  And   using these you know they receive them exactly ontime!  I love sending cards..  but the cost of mailing  just keeps going up , so creating my own cards is a great joy for me..  and everyone seems to really enjoy getting them!

Thursday.  I heard from our daughter  who lives in New England about my grand daughters.I am so proud of them all.. The oldest grand  is 12   and has enrolled in a Christian school  very well known for its high caliber  of education.  And she is  enjoying it so much all ready...  This was exactly  what she was needing.  The joy on her face tells it all! And our youngest  grand daughter is being home schooled this year... and I am so proud of her mom! There are so many extra curricular offerings to  add on to each  week,  I think  this is going to be a great  adventure for them both!  You know, it is so unfortunate that curriculums and  unions  have  in my mind corrupted  what once was a great  educational system.. I taught school during the good ole days  prior to  the crazy testing  that  was the sol's  which  was the start of dictating  a much lower level of  academics   and finally merged into  what we have today   with all its wokeness,  especially in  their area of the country!  It makes me so sad to see this decline,  but am so grateful for  the options families can utilize.

Today, as usual, I will lead a prayer group... Intercessors for America.  where we pray for the nation,  our  cities and communities and each other!  We always open with a praise song or hymn.  Tonight it  will be  a beautiful  song  performed by  Terry Macalmon..   Name Above All Names....

 You can copy this link into the url bar to hear  it.

  Have a blessed weekend and  we'll be back next week!!

Farewell

 After  17 years of   blogging  I am  pretty sad to  just fade  out  with  hardly  anyone showing any   farewell,  concern  about my  surger...
