Thinking....
Yes,  pondering... that is word  for   today.. there is so much to ponder.. I dont know if you  are   feeling it  but  I  sense a  time in   history where  God is   wanting to  connect with his people in new ways....   through His creation...

I know this  was  taken about  3 months ago and I am  just realizing  how very fast these  3 months have flown by...  We were on our way to   our Sunday  night  Bible Study class which has  become such an integral part of our lives,  I  would be  so very  sad  if it were to   suddenly  stop for one reason or another....when you are having so much fun fellowshipping around the awesome  Word or God  time stands still...
On my prayer list.....

Bible verse, Devotional  or  thoughtful  words:

Pass the Pot O' Tea Please

Nothing  speaks  to the   inner  soul   like  a  calming    afternoon break over a  cup of   lovely tea...  Teatime around here  is  an essential  part of  the day.... No matter  what I am doing,   taking a tea break makes everything  seem more  peaceful and  less dreadful...  and  let's face it, life can become somewhat dreadful..  Just having  the tea components   readily available is  part of the experience....
 photo July2012111.jpg

One doesnt   want to spend   undue  time trying to locate the  implements!
How about tea  in the morning,    by the bedside! Why, I think tea for one, as long as it is for me, is a lovely  thing!
 photo July2012018.jpg

“You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.”

Tea on the sideboard  in preparation for  a  luncheon  gathering is   an absolute!

On   a miserably hot and humid day like today,   an iced tea  break is called for....

Kate Greenaway  wrote....

"With a cool breeze blowing, and not too much heat -
And doesn't the tea-tray look charmingly neat?"

Or,   sometime,  an iced tea  break on the porch with my sweetie,   makes the day   special!
 photo Spring2012171.jpg
One of my favorite   teatimes is when I steal  away  with   my  cuppa tea  and   enjoy  my   new magazine of fresh ideas and   lovely  inspirations!
photo Spring2012128.jpgOr if it is   extremely pleasant in  the garden,   an afternoon  soiree' is   simply sublime!

An afternoon of bird watching and  drawing,  is much more   festive with a bit of tea and  a sweet!

The Tea Party

I had a little tea party
This afternoon at three.
'Twas very small-
Three guest in all-
Just I, myself and me.

Myself ate all the sandwiches,
While I drank up the tea;
'Twas also I who ate the pie
And passed the cake to me.

Sometimes  we just cant wait and  must have  tea with our   breakfast...    photo gardentea011.jpg

Back to Basic Living

It  has been   rather   good to put the  red, white, and blue away and get back to basics...
It all started with my  birthday yesterday...
  I  received  some   wonderful  gifts...
This book  is one  our   Bible  teacher has  been  quoting from   now for several weeks...
I  can't wait to   get into it... Im definitely taking it on my train trip....  later this month!
Another great read   I got was
I am  reading this book aloud to my husband each morning..   we  are  so inpsired  by   Eric Metaxas' writing!
Some   personal items and  delicious food followed...   but this next item I,  also, love....
My friend   walked into  the    consignment shop and  just  said, "Lord,  Show me what Carolyn would like."
This gorgeous brass pitcher made in Italy....
which I added to   this   arrangement
I felt  so   amazed  a month ago   when  the Lord led me to this  painting.. one Im pretty sure most  folks  would  bypass in a hurry,  but   I love it........  what cant be seen  in this photo very well,  is that in the far background  on the right is the shadow of St. George slaying the dragon.... I love the  spiritual  connotation of this...
for  our battle is in the spirit realm....our weapons  are  spirit, as well!
Notice how the   delicate   yet intricate  shape of the   new pitcher   mimics the   graceful lines of the one in the photo....  I  love it!
I turn now   180 degrees and  capture the  dining table...
Time to  hail   teatime....

My dear cousin, Pam,  is   coming   for a wee visit  this evening,  as   several of my mom's sisters  are gathering to   visit with  her, dad and us  tomorrow  for luncheon.......
I want to take  advantage of  Pam's visit  to   enjoy a bit of teatime together...
so I found this  wonderful low carb  dessert  to try
for this evening...paired  with  a nice  green tea  fruited  cooler....   yum!

Summer To Autumn Peach Galette
in Diana's Recipe Book

Servings: 8

Comments:
Top each slice with a dollap of Lite or Fat-Free Non-Dairy Whipped Topping, and indulge in this lovely summer to autumn galette.

Ingredients:
1/2 of a 15-ounce package folded refrigerated unbaked
piecrust (1 crust)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
4 teaspoons all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3 cups peeled and sliced peaches
(1 1/2 pounds)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 large egg, beaten
1 tablespoon water

Instructions:
Let the pie crust stand at room temperature according to package
directions; unfold. Line a large baking sheet with foil and lightly flour.
Place pastry on the prepared baking sheet and roll to a 14 x 11-inc oval.

In a large mixing bowl stir together granulated sugar, flour, and
nutmeg. Stir in peaches and lemon juice. Spoon peach mixture onto
pastry, leaving a 2-inch border.

Fold pastry border up and over peaches, folding edges gently as needed. Combine egg and water.Brush egg mixture onto the top and sides of the crust. Bake in a 375 degree F. oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until the crust is golden. If necessary, cover top crust with foil for the last 10 to 15 minutes of baking to prevent overbrowning. Cool for 30 minutes on the baking sheet. Makes 8 servings.

Tip: You can substitute nectarines, plums, or other summer fruit for the peaches, if desired.

Low key Celebration

Happy Fourth of July!
I love   my country and I praise   the Lord  for  the many   ways he has blessed us....  and  one of the way has been this cool a nd   wet   summer  we've had so far....   many say we've  had    far too much....
Photo: Flooding forces evacuations, causes cancellations and closures throughout Roanoke >> http://bit.ly/19VT3nA

Joel Hawksley | The Roanoke Times
here  is a  news   photo  showing   the Roanoke River  out of its banks today

and  it has been   rather  a lot  com paritively  from other years... but  Im loving every  moment of   the rain.. Today being a holiday,   it was impossible to tell   what to expect... the rain and sun   played     with our  sensitivities....so   we  just decided to  play the  day by ear.... I could smell  our neighbors  firing up their grills  trying to   get  a hamburger   going..... maybe they did ...   but  we decided to play it safe!
Lynn jumped in  the truck and  headed out to Sonic Burger...

We   reminiscied  about   other  Fourths    through the  46 years  together...  WOW!
And   agreed this one was  the easiest one yet!
  hahahahahahahah
Candlelight  added to the romance.... and   kept the  skeeters  at bay!

I particularly liked the  no effort
set up/ cleanup  this celebration afforded us!

Our sweet neighbor, Janet,   came over and  brought us  our dessert...   fresh picked raspberries from their garden!

AND AS THE  SUN  SAT...  SOMEWHERE   BEYOND THE RAIN....   WE LIT OUR   FIREWORKS

Well, I did say low key!
We actually did  get it  all fired up a nd it  was   pretty awesome... but I cant  get the   thinky to load!
Oh well!  it's funnier this way!

Happy Fourth but take Warning!

I     have   a wonderful gift for  each  one who happens upon my page today....  Please  take  time to listen to this  message.....   it is  so very important!!!!!!! I  can not   impress on you enough just how important   it truly is!!!!!

All about Flowers!

With all the rain, there isnt much going on outside, but this morning,   I was invited to  attend   the local  Garden Club...
pencil drawing

and   I had  such a   grand time,  I think I'll join next month...so many new things to learn about  horticulture and   design!
Each member is    committed to bringing in a specimen from their garden 3 times a year....
My friend, Gerri,  brought in this   gorgeous  dark  violet colored  specimen of  the

It was fascinating to me to see all the varieties of   local  flowers  and their   cute   vessels and   more importantly  the botanical names...
I  love this     gorgeous type of hydrangea... the "Lace Cap"  is what I've ever known it to be called..
 These   caladiums  were   spectacular  specimens!

I had never seen  this member of the iris family before

  This  is a coreopsis

  And   lastly, the
Leaving the    horticultural   displays   I  now turn to  the   top     show  displays....

This Ring Around the Rosy  took grand prize  today!  The program   today   demonstrated   miniature   designs...

In shows,   the scale of  a miniature design  can only   be displayed in a  5in x 5in or  an 8in x 8in  size...
This pinterest  site  on miniature  floral   ideas   demonstrates   some  lovely designs..

I  found today that  any  group  that   one may  want to join is only as  good as   the   folks who  are members... and  these ladies a re   all   extremely    welcoming,   fun,     and  super- creative!     A  wonderful  adventure today!

Farewell

After  17 years of   blogging  I am  pretty sad to  just fade  out  with  hardly  anyone showing any   farewell,  concern  about my  surger...
