In Lieu of Halloween

Our dining room  seems to be the heart of the house.... it reflects the  seasons  and family activity...

If it is autumn the black and white  linens are  usually   prominent...

The contrasting colors  just   brighten  every  tablescape...repeating colors     are echoed in the kitchen...

My inherited antique chicken  reminds me of  childhood gatherings around my mother's kitchen...
it's no wonder I  have  also inherited my mom's   love of  roosters.... like this fine fellow

both these items   find their way into autumnal  vignettes  around my house..  simple  treasures   that  remind me of   family,  hearth, and home!

On my prayer list.....
Our family, parents, daughter ,  Little Birdie*, son-in law,
Our church, and church family
our nation, leaders,
Israel and the Middle East

Bible verse, Devotional  or  thoughtful  words:
Acts 10:38
38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.
I  love how   God  inspired the   Biblical writers  to   use  the  term, "Jesus of Nazareth"  to demonstrate  Jesus's humanity... even though  heshares int eh trinity with  God  he  was also   fully man  and   by His   baptism in the spirit  he was  empowered  to go about doing good.   because God was with Him...at his death on Calvary,  he clearly never expected his work on earth to   come to an end, but he commissioned his followers to continue  his same good works  by the power  and authority   he  gave us   when our spirits  were  united with   His....  that is  the  gospel being lived out  in the world  through the generations  where  his life and light is spread  throughout   the world!

Who has Time?? Not me! But If I Cudda Wudda!

I  am so inspired by the    stacked pumpkin  look!
outdoor fall decor
I  have searched high and low for just the  right  flat pumpkins,  but never  found any   that   looked   unblemished  in our area....   saw  some in  Boston area  last week,,, but we didnt have time to stop and   go through them!
Pumpkin Topiary
I had my planter  all picked out,,, you know the one  with the  dying  angel wing  begonias in it....
I was  just going to  ask Lynn to move it around to the front porch in readiness,   but,,,   then  I ran out of time....   no time!
I   did   buy the perfect  white pumpkin I  planned to  place on the  top of my  gorgeous    arrangement  and was  collecting the  mosses and leaves to     finish off the total look...
but alas... it just never came together....I ran out of time....life  has a way of getting in the way...   not dont get me wrong...   wonderful   things of life...
traveling 15  hours away   to see  my precious daughter and meet  our new  granddaughter  for the first time....

coming home   just time to    laundry my clothes and repack for   an awesome week long   lake house retreat with  my  BFF's and Prayer Sistas!
So IM not  complaining....  I just can't spare the time   this year   to stack pumpkins...   it is a cute  idea though!
Sunday is the day to share

One day soon   we will be   retiring   to this room  on our stopover to  Boston to meet our little  one, (Birdie)

On my prayer list.....
Our family, parents, daughter ,  Little Birdie*, son-in law,
Our church, and church family
our nation, leaders,

Bible verse, Devotional  or  thoughtful  words:

Acts 10:38

New International Version (NIV)

38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him. Last night in church we learned the when the Bible uses the phrase Jesus of Nazareth, it refers to Jesus' humanity... and how that it wasnt until he was baptized with the Spirit that he was empowered to do Kingdom work (miracles) This has huge implications for us..... His heirs.... for he truly never meant for his ministry to end with His death on the cross but it actually multiplied His kingdom work through those of us who believe and call upon God through power ... yet so few churches are preaching the kingdom dimension in which Jesus walked and He commissioned us to walk in as he ascended into heaven!

Heaven Sent

Today  I was  given  the go ahead  to share   a  bit about   our  dear    Little Birdie

She   arrived special delivery last week!
Mother  and baby   did   spectacularly well!

And now more than ever, I  truly believe that   babies are heaven sent....straight from the hand of God!

God bless you, all and happy

 Pink Saturday!

Five Minute Friday

What a fun theme....every Friday folks join Lisa Jo Baker here... for Five Minute Friday.....where you write for five minutes on a topic she offers... this week the word is
"Write"
GO

To write is the outward expression of the heart,

the tangible means of sharing the feelings, truth, and soul of yourself..

whereas, the spoken words although powerful in and of themselves are only here in a breath and gone, the written word can last forever.... a testament to the writer.... or could be the evidence left behind which can illuminate the character.... whether the words are full of grace, or of a slanderous nature.... written words reveal much of the writer's life.... I pray my written words that are left behind will demonstrate that I was a loving, gracious, person who only saw and projected the good in people and purposefully pointed people to the True and living God of Creation and the redemptive work of His Son, Jesus Christ!
Stop

I do like this exercise.... this fits exactly the commission my students left to me my last day of school 10 years ago to keep writing and sharing the love of writing with others.

Autumnal Inspiration

Autumn  is arriving in our home  even if    slowly.... I love the colors of fall!

The dining room  perhaps  is most  festively arrayed in  the  blazing colors of autumn!

Nevertheless,   there are  hints of autumn  in other  places, too!

I have to   say,   that     with the   arrival of our granddaughter,   as well as,  caring for my parents,  things of   hearth and home   have   not  been   the  center of living....   but  my inspiration is  to   create   spaces,  as  able, that  reflect  my  deep appreciation  to God  for the beauty  all  around us...I remember   a couple of years ago  when  we    drove up in the mountains and I found this  wonderful country store where I bought my blue pumpkin,  and   enjoyed it on our  table...
