FOR TODAY.. Memorial Day

Today the sun  is blazing and the humidity is building..  just the kind of summer day that dredges up memories of other Memorial Day celebrations  around family get togethers,  especially for me in the country  as we celebrated Decoration Day as well.

I am thinking...time surely does pass so quickly...   and with it  I am getting  older every day

I am thankful for...  family and friends  who encourage and build up   and edify...  God's perfect plan for us

From the kitchen.. baked beans are in the oven as we get ready for the cookout this evening

I am wearing..white slacks, and green cotton tunic

I am creating...    a knitting project   mainly

I am reading...    Robin Pilchur's  A Risk Worth Taking,   and God's Fiery Love  by Bob Sorge.

I am hoping...  to get this upstairs  in good order in the coming days....it is a bit out of sorts and disorganized

Around the house.... Lynn is doing some major deweeding   the rain  has made everything  grow by leaps and bounds.. I continue to "deweed"  the cupboards and  closets

One of my favorite things....sharing the gospel with my online friends....  and mentoring/discipling where I am able....  this is helping  me to incline my ear to the Ho;y Spirit's urging and small still voice.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Monday -    Prayer  Sista's Coffee,  regroup wiiht Lynn around the house,  bake beans for the party, Memorial Day Cookout

Tuesday-   devotions, allergy shot,   Mom and Dad to the doctor, marketing,

Wednesday- cleaning,  laundry,   Church dinner  /Bible Study

Guardian Angels

I found an interesting  site this morning    all abut guardian angels  and  I do believe that  we have angels assigned to us that keep watch and protect us in this evil world .  This particular site  went a step further  in that if you put in your birthdate  it would  tell you the day of the week you were born and thus tell you  which angel is particularly assigned to you... I dont know about that....   but it is  interesting to say the last.   This is what  I discovered....being born on a Saturday,  my angel would be

St. Barachiel (Saturday)   Archangel of Divine Providence

Through the merits of Our Lord Jesus Christ, His passion, death and resurrection, all His disciples are brought to a transforming union with Him. Through His transformation in love, the soul becomes Christ-like. As such, every Christ-like soul becomes, by adoption, the child of the Father. St. Barachiel is the Archangel who was assigned by God to keep watch over His adopted children, taking care that He and the Choirs of Angels assigned to the task guard these transformed souls in all their ways, bearing them up in their hands, "lest they dash their feet against the stone on their way to their heavenly home." (Psalm 91, 12)

Some interesting Reflections  were included  to give rise to  pertinent  questions  we should all  thing about

1) Do I realize that to be Christlike means to follow God's commandments?
2) How do I grow in the qualities of Christ called virtues?
3) Does his presence remind me of God's protection and care?
Im not  sure but praying to my angel either, but this site  goes on to send this  message to  our  angel...

O Powerful Archangel, St. Barachiel, filled with heaven's glory and splendor, you are rightly called God's benediction. We are God's children placed under your protection and care. Listen to our supplications  grant that through your loving intercession, we may reach our Heavenly Home one day.

Sustain us and protect us from all harm that we may posses for all eternity the peace and happiness that Jesus has prepared for us in heaven.

Present to God the Father all these petitions through Jesus Christ our Lord together with the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.
I am thankful to Father God for His provision of  His angels  to watch out for us....
As  I was  sitting in my sunroom this morning  I was watching the birds  so busy in their morning ministrations  so I dedicated my mantel to them  along with the angels who watch over them everyday...

A Romantic Dinner for two!
May conjures up wonderful memories  from the last 38 years of married bliss!  Times we've spent on vacations,  with family and those wonderful  times  it was just the two of us..  for the last few years we have enjoyed trying out the many bed and breakfasts  in our area....  I love the gentility of  those bygone eras...the homes with such character and grace...
But this year,  we're saving up our vacation time and money  for  other even grander trips to come....   so  I am creating the same ambiance right in our own dining room...

Photobucket
Since it's just the two of us  it reminds me of our stay in Hanover, Pa.  We had the whole B&B  to ourselves that night...

Photobucket
lighting the room with candlelight  helps to set a cozy mood..

Photobucket
Whether  entering from the kitchen or the parlor,  the dining area draws us right  in   as we remember the waftingly rich aromas of B&B's  of our memories...
Photobucket
Photobucket
One can't help but be entranced with the details of  each component...
Photobucket
The mood for this  setting is Ireland inspired... from the Irish linens....  to the  Irish crystal... the Olde World silver flatwear ...   elegance and grace   abound!
Photobucket
Waterford  Rosslare  crystal  goblets offer their graceful yet grounded effects to any setting.

My new Royal Stafford  pottery from Bursalem ,  England  anchors the setting with it's Olde World script and rich design.

Well,  if we can't go afield this season  to  places far  and near,  we can  at least celebrate the  essence of  favored  climes  in our own dining  experiences at home!

FOR TODAY

Today  started out  a bit  slow  with a gradual  burn off of morning fog...  to reveal a mostly cloudy  day..m with intermittent  rays of sun....  but the threat of rain is heavy in the air!

I am thinking...how wonderful  my Bible study class was this morning!  This week we discussed  just how important it is to being every thought under submission to the Lord...  for as a man thinketh, so is he!    We are so apt to rationalize  that its ok what we think  as long as we dont act on it or say what  we're thinking...  as long as it doesnt hurt anyone else,  just go ahead and  think it,  or  dream it or wish it... but  every moment of our lives is a battle for the mind...  It's where self control is born!  And what we harbor in the mind  what we rest on to think about  will affect our heart  and therein  our heart   will conceal the double minded thinking that can become idolatry or  at the least keep us in bondage to   sin...  It is a working out of our salvation  moment by moment    dying to self, renewing of the mind  that brings peace and reconcilation   with the Holy God

I am thankful for...  my life,  my family, my church,  my spiritual family,  our home, and most of all my salvation and Christ in me

From the kitchen.. since it is rather  cool today  I am thinking a nice homemade soup...

I am wearing..white crops, turquoise tee, spring green sweater

I am creating...  an attitude of organization in my spirit so that I can apply it to this studio and my closet

I am reading...  Ministries of Mercy by Timothy J. Keller  This book is actually to help mold my heart   to be merciful through church ministry... Heaven is for Real, by Todd Burpo. I highly recommend this book.  It is such a joy to rad and offers so much hope about God's kingdom! Im thinking of starting a novel  that my friend  got for me at the library book sale...   Robin Pilchur's  A Risk Worth Taking!   Looks really great!

I am hoping....to  get started on this organization project this afternoon

Around the house.... it is time to go a major culling out of stuff that hasnt been used in some time
  too much stuff!

One of my favorite things....again is planning....  wish I would implement as well as I can plan!.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Monday -    Bible Study,   cleaning, cooking

Tuesday-   devotions allergy shot,   marketing, dad to the barber, visiting with my parents

Wednesday- cleaning,  laundry,  Church dinner  /Bible Study

Thursday- devotions, shopping

Friday-  devotions,  hopefully coffee or breakfast out with a friend

OUr Dream Trip to England

Photobucket
I have spoken before plenty of times about my huge desire to visit the United Kingdom.  Not only because my study of genealogy will take me to places like Perthshire, Scotland, and Gloucestershire, England and Waterford, Ireland,  but because I have met so many fine friends on Facebook  from there. ONe of my oldest and very special friends is Kev from Birmingham, England.  He is a Brummie,  ( a person from Birmingham)   who are said to speak Brummie,  a bit of a  different accent  so he says.   I like all accents  so one is the same as another to me.  Kev is a photo journalist  who loves to dabble in all kinds of photo editing. He particularly likes to research older dwelling and old photos of Birmingham like those that I found at the top of this collage.  Im not sure but I think the center photo would be the general area in which Kev lives   but I know the side photos were taken  at a church function right at his back door last fall.  He can see that lovely cross from his home there in Erdington!  The bottom left photo represents  exactly  what I expect Kev to do  when we get to Erdington...  he's taking us to Druckers for a spot of tea and a cream cake...  I love to plan  and dream about my trip... I pray it does come to pass some day  ...   before Im too old to go!!
