The New Look

Well, as you can see we are long over due for a makeover in our bedroom.I  went through a stage of  loving dark colors in the 90's... definitely time to change that up..sooooooooo..
I am terribly excited about this redo. We  have purchased   the main new elements.... We are painting the walls this soft shade of  blue... Beach Foam  by Behr.. with  white   woodwork..  There are    double hung windows on the shed wall  with  brings in a ton of light.  All that  woodwork will look so clean and fresh!

BEHR Premium Plus Ultra 8 oz. #S450-1 Beach Foam Interior/Exterior Paint Sample
I found these  gorgeous Ivory  sheer  rod pocket  panels
The embroideried   florals  and tendrils  are  in ivory as well... I think the ivory will look  richer than the white  to  tie in with the  richness of the  light bronze in the  comforter  that we also found at Penney's.. at a  great price for the 7 piece set...as seen in the photo  below~

I love the decorative pillows that came with this set!All for $92.00
The only thing holding us back now is  that there is one wall papered that has to be cleared off....  Hubs has asked me to do that job...  yikes!  I am hoping that having the elements in hand will  put the onus one me  to get that done!!
Meanwhile, I  have a chair  that I need to find  fabric for, as well as, the top of the  hope chest  to complete the overall  design..It will be  wonderful to  get this job done this spring!

Time for Me

First, of all  may I say I am delighted to be featured on Sandi's
 this week.
Today I  want to share a special time I  celebrated  last week.... following our  breakfast out at  Our Daily Bread I  picked up  these  delectable Macarons to try...  I was particularly interested in the  texture and  the  various fillings...  since I am very interested in trying my hand at baking these marvels myself.
So I brewed myself a  lovely   Rooibos  tea  and  took  a  respite from  the  troubles of the week and enjoyed a  quite hour of contemplation.. I haven't used my heirloom  cups for some time,,, I inherited this pattern from  Hub's mother...  it is  Syracuse, the Portland pattern...  I just love them!
So then I set myself a lovely  simple tea table
Opened my latest edition of Victoria BlissTea
And  entered into a  teatime reverie  for an hour... a much needed  time to myself!

For Today...

April 25, 2016
weather outside...
a gorgeous spring day!!!

Outside my window...hubs is enjoying  tending the lawn

I am thinking...
I will be glad when  Wednesday afternoon  comes and my  doctor's appts. are past....

I am thankful...
my prayer  friends.. we met this morning and covered each other and others  of our  acquaintance in  prayers for  their  health, circumstances and protection of the evil one!

I am creating...
to be honest I have no ideas as of yet.... too early in the week I guess!

I am going...
to  the dermatologist and have stitches removed...  but   the other appt could be more serious and I'm praying all is well and I get a good report! It is all  regarding the  great  bump I took to my head  3 weeks ago.

I am wondering...
when  we will finally  get to go to see our granddaughters.  Face time just isn't enough!

I am reading...
aw.. my very last Lynn Kurland book.....sigh!

I am hoping...
to  feel much better now that I have finally taken the first step to rejoin the church choir...  After  a year off,  it has been  sort of hard to make the leap,  but  I did go last week and sang Sunday  and even though it was  a bit difficult  and  trying  after  a long  spell of  no breath  support exercise...  hopefully, it will get better soon!

I am learning...
how important it is to  simply trust God!

In my garden...
My  perennials I planted last year are    blooming    and  growing profusely!

I can't wait til the yarrow blooms it golden yellow!  It is loaded with blooms!

The lavender  is   gorgeous this year!

In my kitchen...
tonight is  clean out the refrigerator night.. I found  an older cabbage,  a large onion in a  baggie from  the weekend  and some sad broccoli  and    parsley...  so  it  was   stir fry  with a few  cashews tossed in..  very yummy!
I found  3  poor  potatoes in the bin  but  wallah!!!  Roasted fries  with  went  scrummy with   the   hotdogs!!
Ok, this is definitely  a home,y  comfy  dindin  so, of course,  we used our  44 year old   melamine  we bought at the PX  in 1972...   Our go to  dinnerware when it is the two of us!!!

A peek into one of my days...

Ive probably read more in the last 2 months  than I have in the previous 2 years...  so  lying  on the bed on our new  natural foam mattress reading  Lynn Kurland's books  has been a luxury I have allowed myself  in the months when I just haven't felt up to par!!!

Simple Woman and Happy Homemaker Monday

For Today...

April 18, 2016
weather outside...
gorgeous with  a  high of  mid 80's.. almost too hot,, too soon!

Outside my window...
My  sweet spring fairies are   reveling in the sunshine!!

I am thinking...
about  what I can do about    our deer problem... We just purchased  2  wonderful  paniculata  hydrangeas,  but the deer found one and  ate the top  layer of leaves off  of  it..so now at night  this is what it looks like...
we need to  go to Southern States and  talk about  netting or something....

I am thankful...
to have the opportunity to facetime with my girls...
sorry for the glare ion the photo
I miss them so much!!!
I am creating...
a new spring  outlook  in the home...   photos to come...

I am going...
to be planning a trip north to  be with  my girls  in the  near future....  it is TIME!!!!

I am wondering...
about spiritual warfare....  it  seems that all of us prayer girls  who  are seeking to reclaim our community for Christ have been under spiritual  attack... me  since  the first of the year... I mean I ahve been physically attacked  in one way or another!! I need to spend more time on my knees!

I am reading...
Only one more of Lynn Kurland's books to go....
I understand the library  has their fill a box for 2 dollars  sale this week... I guess I will  have to go  and see what I can find, anyway!
On my tv:::
I am enjoying the Spring Baking Competition and other   food network  shows..  and I  love  Netflix on which  my favorite is  Foyle's War.
"Michael Kitchen (Out of Africa) stars in this universally acclaimed mystery as DCS Christopher Foyle, investigating crimes on the home front during WWII and, later, counterintelligence threats at the dawn of the Cold War. Also starring Honeysuckle Weeks, Anthony Howell, and a host of fantastic guest stars, the series boasts superb acting, uncompromising historical accuracy, and compelling mysteries that make it "a triumph from start to finish"

Looking forward to::

Our tour of Virginia Military Institute  coming up in  a few weeks....

We will be there for the  military  tattoo on the drill field.
On my to do list:::
laundry....decorating.... stop by church to sign up a bus for  a  Sunday School trip .... shoppping at  garden shop
marketing..... vacuuming...dusting....library trip....
prophetic Bible Study
dinner with friends

Recipe I'm interested in trying:  I saw  them make this on the kitchen last week and it looked so delish!
Flatbread Arugula Pizza with grapes
Brie and fruit pair wonderfully together.....topping them together on pizza is even more amazing. The cheese is able to melt and the grapes add a burst of sweetness and the thin, grilled crisp crust of the flatbread provides the perfect delivery. Looking around the house:::

Just a shot at the dining room sideboard...  I  am  thrilled that my  shamrocks are doing so well...  a first for me, I do think!!!

From the camera:::
A quick look at  sweet  Birdie..always ready to take a ride.. but  hey, Sweetums,,  we have to  put you in the carseat!!!!
Oh, how I love my girls!

In my garden...

Deer Stop Netting

I believe this netting will do the trick!!

In my kitchen...
planning on  making  barbecued  boneless pork ribs
Tip..  I  braise the loin strips  in  a  slow boil for a few hours until theya re  falling apart then I    put them under  the broiler  with the  sauce until  they begin to blacken!   So  delicious!
