End of Year Hodge Podge Wednesday

1. Share a favorite moment/memory from the week of Christmas.....  our  love bug was  born

2. If someone wrote a book about your life based on the past year, what genre would it fall under? What would the title be?
The book would be entitled Redemption...and would be a family drama.  I would have to go back a  couple of years because my daily life  was  mainly consumed with caring for my aging parents..even though they  were necessarily  living in separate  nursing facilities.. I was  running  hither and yon caring for them.  Then dad passed on Dec 13th 2013, at age 94.    Momma  had a failure to thrive  situation and was  deeply medicated for pain. She had lost from 176 pounds to  82 pounds...  I could  barely stand to see her in her condition.  Her mind  was  able but her body  so terribly  withered....then  she somehow  fell out of the bed  late one night and broke her arm with a compound fracture that couldnt  be  set due to the  paper thin  skin she  had...those last few weeks  were   horrible  for me...  seeing her   fragile state and  bleeding    bandages..

finally  Dec 27th, 2014  the Lord  whisked her away  to heaven......  she was  92  and free at last...  but  for me   it was  like my life was  over...  I had cared for them for several years prior to the   facilities, and now I had  nothing but time for   melancholy and loss to settle in on me...   I was   in deep mourning  for  a few months...and    hubby reminded me  we had so much to look forward to...  for example, our trip to Ireland....in April....standing on the cliffs of Moher,   I  gave my final tears to Jesus, and allowed the   winds to carry my sadness away  across the sea...
Then when  we came home  hubby  had  started the process for redoing and modernizing our kitchen.....  that  project   completely consumed me for  several months...  during those months we found out  we would be grandparents again and the baby was due right around Christmas....Praise the Lord!!!  I   prayed thanksgiving to a faithful Father who  gives  great   gifts to His children...  a new life   to  redeem the loss of  my  dear parents....And would you  believe  Love Bug was  born on Dec 27th in the morning  just as my momma had  gone  that time a year  before!

3. What made you feel patriotic this year?
Well, unfortunately,  I  have been feeling  like so many   do that our nation is  in deep peril..Because we have turned our back on God and allowed such ungodly change  come upon our  people.. through  government,  society, education, entertainment,  the military,  .... when you do not allow God to enter into  the  mountains of  society,  you begin a  dangerous downward spiral.... Only God can  retrieve us and  lift us from this pit....  so  I am  most patriotic when I meet in  small prayer groups  whenever possible to pray  for  our leaders,  the decisions.. t o  use  our God given authority to  reclaim  and protect our families  our neighborhoods,  schools,   workplaces,  I pray  as I drive   all the areas  around my house.. I do major spiritual warfare  if I am so led  for  protection and  for  godliness to reign!

4. What experience from this past year would you like to do all over again?  Well, I am in the midst of it now...   staying here  with our  granddaughter  taking care of her,  playing with her.  doing crafts with her...  we have made  so many lovely  Christmas decorations  and ornaments for the tree and she is only 2, but  very  exceptional!

5. What song lyric sums up or is a reflection of your 2015?

I have learned that  when  circumstances  are looking their worst.. this song  gives hope and  faith!

Right there in the dust, he sat by the gate,
To listen to footsteps and patiently wait.
The blind man just didn't dream that this was the day
That Jesus of Nazareth would pass by his way.

CHORUS
Something good is going to happen to you
Happen to you this very day.
Something good is going to happen to you
Jesus of Nazareth is passing your way.

She stood by the well, so tired and alone,
Misfortune and heartache was all she had known,
She looked at the stranger, but who would ever think,
'Twas Jesus to offer her living water to drink.

They were only wee children so happy at play
And told to stay quiet and out of the way;
But then came the Saviour with arms open wide,
They're part of His kingdom, make room by His side.

My friend if you're listening now humbly to me
Yes this is the moment that you can be free
This very same Jesus is right here today;
Release your faith and touch Him, then believe me when I say.

6. On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate 2015? (10=stellar) Why?
10...because  even in the   bad  and   especially in the good,   God  has prepared the way...and I am learning more and more to trust and rely on Him.

7. What part of the upcoming year are you most excited about?

I am trusting and believing  that just as many  learned  present  day   Biblical scholars  are  hearing from the Lord that  because of the  church's  growing interest in prayer  we as a nation are  turning...ever be it slowly....   but a shift back to the God  through revival is coming.....  I challenge all who read this to   join a prayer group and  help  bring  this in in 2016!

8. Insert your own random thought here. Tomorrow is the last day of 2015  yet it is the first day of my   precious daughter's  returning from the hospital with  her 2 daughter's in tow.   Our little family is  growing  and  may this new year be a great  one for families everywhere....  May that be our  daily prayer!

Happy New Year !!!

December 21~Peace

December 21~Peace
Image result for “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
Luke 2: 13-14
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14
“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

For us  this Christmas Season, our family is  expectant   and filled with peace that only  comes form on high... as we  await the birth of our second grand daughter.

We are   so happily  enjoying  Christmas  with our children  as  we   are   enjoying    the love and wonder of our first grand daughter's 3rd Christmas....  So many wonderful   things  for   Grandma and Grandpa to do  with  our  precious Birdie...... crafts,   baking,   singing,   AH!!!!
I am sorry I haven't  posted  a lot lately...   and I am very sorry to  have lost  2  followers     this week....  But nothing is  more important than  this  peaceful and  magnificent   time in our lives..

Hodge Podge The Week Before Christmas

1. What's your biggest 'first world' problem?

My worst "first world"  problem,   is  storage, just like   our  host's  but  not in the same way....I  love  English china....  and I  am a huge collector...but I have  no  new places to store..  three hutches and new cabinetry in my kitchen and still it is all filled to the brim....  My daughter tells me now if I buy a new piece, I must  dispose of an old one....   dilemma,, dilemma!!1

2. Each year Time Magazine names a 'Person of the Year', someone who has 'for better or worse....done the most to influence the events of the year.' It was recently announced they've named Angela Merkel Person of the Year for 2015. You can read more about this year's selection here. Your thoughts? If you were in charge, who would you declare Person of the Year?

Obviously,  Time's choice wouldn't be mine....  I  confess I had to look  Angela Merkle up to know  who she is...I mean she is  alright...  I guess.. I didnt actually read  too much about her and  her stance on  things of import.

I  probably would have chosen  a  man of  Bi Bi Netanyahu's  stature... as a  political leader...A man who cares deeply for his people and    in my opinion serves them well~

3. Do you have a nativity set in your home? If so share it's history and how you display the pieces.

My nativity is in a box at home,  but today I am  not  at home... but visiting my  sweetheart granddaughter....and  hubby and I gave her her nativity for her birthday  a few months ago...  and she loves to play with it and  retell the story....

This morning we made a craft of the nativity together!!!

4. Do you make an extra effort to give back in some way during the holiday season? How do you encourage those who need encouragement this time of year?

Aside  from the various extra giving we   practice  to the usual  charities and   wounded veteran organizations....  my husband and I  for several years have made  it our   joy to  give  unusually more and  unexpected  tips to  those who  serve us....      praying that in some   special way the extra money would  really    be useful  in  allowing  these folks  to  have  a  happier  holiday  or bless others...We also    look for ways to love  on  people  who  appear to be lonely or   forsaken at this time of year... We love to pray for and with   people  whom the spirit leads us to pray  with ...

5. Who is your favorite person to shop for? Why?

For me,. it is also  my granddaughters...   one who is 2 and one who will born  any  hour now...  the waiting is what is so hard!

6. What's the last delicious thing you ate?

Well, just a couple of minutes ago, hubby offered me  one of those special Ritz crackers coated in chocolate  that are only available  this time of year.. pretty  yummy stuff, and I didnt have to  make it myself!

7. The best way to spread Christmas cheer is__________________.

Allowing the light of Christ and    the  spirit of Christmas to resonant within us....  If  we call ourselves children of God, then His word calls us to be image bearers of Christ....  do do and act like Christ did...  in love, mercy, compassion, and joy!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

May the spirit of Christmas    burn brightly in your lives and  and circumstances  this  wonderful season!

Merry Christmas!

Friday Favorite Five

Time for  FFF  over at  Susanne's Place!
1.  I must be one of the  most fortunate  women in the world....  my hubby is so dear... and  caring...  yesterday while I  was celebrating  (see last post)... he was  vaccuuming the house.  And today he is   scouring the  bathroom....     Now that  says "I love you"  better than anything I can think of!!!
2.   Tomorrow  is going to be so much fun!!!  Our   SS class  is  going  to celebrate    Christmas   by  going to  a  beautiful local  landmark...
This gorgeous hotel is the Christmas  destination of  our community!
Various civic organizations  decorate trees and    the community comes by  throughout the season and votes on their favorite!  The  trees are   amazing!  There are hundreds of them!

Our   brunch venue is   amazing  and the food is sublime!

There are several stations  with everything  from  carved  entrees
to  sweets of every  imaginable   shape and size!

3.  I cannot believe the temps today...  bright...sunny... and 70 degrees!
4.  I am still in the throes of planning  Christmas   treats.... I know   some family favorites  are  Sausage Balls,  Pecan Tassies, Soft Molasses Cookies,  Peanut Butter with  Reeses cup Cookies,  7 Layer Cookies,  Chez Mix.  and Puppy Chow....  But  surely.... we  can change that up a bit... or  are  treats  supposed to be just that??  ..  traditional...  and  absolutely expected  at Christmas.... any thoughts on that one??
5.    A few years ago  our class did  a progressive dinner   and it was  so  much fun to see how everyone decorated  for the holidays...

December 10~Wrapping Paper

December 10~Wrapping Paper
Today was a special day to  celebrate  wrappings....  except it was definitely a gift bag kind of day...
First of all,   my prayer  sistas and  BFF's    were celebrating  one of our  dear  friend Dottie's  birthday.
This   time her first choice for  the venue was   the tea room!
We always get our favorite...  the   awesome   cranberry chicken salad. ..  fresh baked bread with balsamic dipping sauce!
Then we stopped in at Dottie's for  chocolate cake   where  we then exchanged Christmas gifts... again in gift bags....   but   festive  tissue  paper   was  flying  everywhere!!!

When I got home  I  spilled it all out on the table to show hubby...  a lovely bag filled to the brim  with   delicious treats of every kind..
 sweet and savory!
An engraved  leather bound copy of  Jesus Calling....
A  fabulous  cd...  that I am listening to as I type...     cute  socks....  I love  wrapping paper and gift bags.....  they always  bring the  most delightful    surprises!

Farewell

After  17 years of   blogging  I am  pretty sad to  just fade  out  with  hardly  anyone showing any   farewell,  concern  about my  surger...
