FFF

Click here to  return to Susanne's Place!

Well, here we are the last Friday in September.. wow  where is time flying to.. sometimes I feel like Im  a lump of clay about to fly off the potter's wheel...  time is spinning so fast...  I can't keep up.
This past week started out  with me feeling terrible..  It kept me from  church,    Christmas  Choir practice, and  Bible study  for which I am leading a group.  Thankfully,  I am much better,  but have been playing catch-up all week.
1.  I am so enjoying  Beth Moore's newer study, Entrusted, a study on  2Timothy.
Being a small group leader  means I need to really  be tip top on answering the questions and researching the one's Im not quite sure about.. and   now that  Beth's daughter. Melissa, is  adding her deeper theological  messages  each week... I find  much  well spent time is  necessary to  be fully able to discuss     items  she  delves into..for example,  last night I was  differentiating between, realized eschatology, future escatology, and over-realized escahtology....  Im still chewing on those!
2.

This morning when I came downstairs I was so blessed by hubs..
He so appreciated the efforts I put into  redoing the house for October...  He already had the  "mood" lights lit as I  came downstairs to my first cup of coffee...it just touched my heart  to be  met with  such consideration .. I mean  my daily coffee and fruited yogurt cup is awesome...  but  set me before  by fairy  lights
was super special!
3.
I havent praised the Lord enough for the rain. Thank you, God for  the abundant  showers,  you have sent to us...and not in  hourly deluges but  a bit here and then a bit  later..  I mean it has been rainy days,  but  doled out liberally, but not  drastically.  and we need it to badly... Plus, it has ushered in typical October temps  that just  heal my soul after the  horrid  heat we have endured for so long!!!
Praise  you, Holy One of heaven  for your  liberal love and provision!
4.
Our only child, Amanda lives  12 hours away... and we are so proud of her family,  just miss them to pieces...this week they a re priveleged to  be spending time with  his family  in the midwest... and I just had to share this... how  excited we are that our oldest grand daughter got to go to the Ryder Cup with her dad and grand dad on Tuesday.. practice day...I share this because I am rather caught up in it... I am rooting for the  European team this time...  I am  a huge fan of this young man from County Down,  Northern Ireland ....perhaps you know him.

Ever since our trek to Northern Ireland  from where my ancestors hail... I just love everything about it..

5. I am looking  so forward to getting out this evening...  to dine with hub's cousins..    We  try to meet once a month  to just stay caught up with the family... only one aunt on this side left and she is infirm...   but we cuz's  have a blast .... Im so glad  because we only really reconnected about a year ago..   these  are  Hub's gal cousins and one spouse.  This month we are meeting here.. my      f avorite spot in town.
our-story
Cheddar's  is   made from scratchwith  quality ingrdients and  yummy taste at a  very economical price..
And I will end with this  shot..
I mean we live  a half a day from the Myrtle Beach, yet, we havent been back since Amanda married in 2005... now  that to me is criminal..  and man does that ever look like me this morning!  Yikes!!

October Surprise

I  do not celebrate Halloween... but I certainly love October... I loved  decorating my classroom with  golden moons and  cats  caterwauling on fences,  I loved   fodder shocks and pumpkins... and  going to see  my dad  over the years after he retired in the country I loved arriving to see what October surprises he had created...living there he had access to all kinds of autumnal farm items..  bales of straw...   corn shocks.. you name it. and he usually had some kind of  scarecrow  that he created out of his old farm clothing... he had such a tender, merry heart.

Very reminiscent of his handwork!  Found online..
So I guess I would like to share my October surprise...
the fall fairy has  come and sprinked  a bit of  autumn around the house..

I exchanged  my  autumn arrangement  seen now on the sideboard

for my pumpkin pie  pumpkin  who doesnt know it yet,  but its days are numbered!!  hehehehehe
I am using my black transferware... by Johnson Brothers....
because they go so well with my   Thanksgiving dessert plates
Yes,  in November  my  decor will only require a bit of tweaking!
I love to use my  antlers  that I have been collecting the past couple of seasons...

This year I added the smaller  antler  wrapped votives...  all of which I find at Pier One ...
Continuing into the parlor...  I  see the seasonal tree is decked out for fall...

as well as,  the mantel..

wait.. what have we here....   an uninvited guest it seems...
Welcome , little fellow...
so enticed by the  harvest table..my little omnivore   couldn't help  but hop up there to glean and nibble! You seem to  be polite enough to stay!

Pumpkins on Parade

To return to Susan's page click here!

Now that it is officially  autumn   I had been noticing  many lovely colorful pumpkins at the grocer..  so...
I  bought a few..I have always thought that    seeing them piled atop on another was just adorable... so Hubs  did this for me...

Now Im trying to figure out what else to  put with this.. it seems   a bit  lonely there!

I am thinking some  cute  autumn pillows  are needed for the  settee.....
We also  got our  yard flags  out.. one  by the driveway out back..

And the  porch flag  that   I think  echoes the lovely  pumpkin colors  nicely!

1. Have you ever been to and/or lived near the desert? What did you think? Travel and Leisure lists the 'coolest' American desert towns as-

Palm Springs CA, Virgina City NE, Bend OR, Winslow AZ, Marfa TX, Grand Junction CO, Silver City NM, Moab UT, Taos NM, Yakima WA, Borrego Springs CA, Terlingua TX, and St. George UT, and Tubac AZ

Have you been to any of these? Would you like to visit a desert town? Which on the list would you most like to see?

I would have to say no to all of the above... born and raised  near the east coast  in the mountains.. more attuned to country living than anything else... I am perfectly satisfied living right here~ I need lots of  fresh cool air, lush vegetation...  expansive views of  moving water  and   purple mountians majesty  about me!

2. What's a plan or project you've deserted in the past year?
I hate to admit this yet again...  but Hubs bought me a great sewing machine for our anniversary in March and it is still in the box.  Yet I have fabric and plans to  make gifts for my grandchldren
  Bad  Granny!!

3. Desert-dessert? Share two or three words you find yourself having to think twice about when it comes to spelling.
Phonetically opposite!

4. High and dry, like watching paint dry, dry run, dry as dust, not a dry eye in the house...which phrase can you relate to currently? Explain.
Not a dry eye in the house....  goodness me!!!  Last Friday night  at the Cry Out Women's Conference Simulcast

spoke so passionately on   confession and repentance...  she knocked it out of the ballpark bringing up areas in  women's lives they  just dont think  about that may be   a guiding motivation or  a hidden  sin.  She spoke for  about 20 minutes  and  she was  wailing even with her arms to  God to have mercy.  But  what was   so  amazing  was  that after about ten minutes   you could see her  chest heaving  as  she  was  probably struggling  for  the deepest breaths she could muster,  but  she was not deterred..  She was  truly caught up in the spirit in her  prayer  before God  and  I know  from my own response that  thousands of women all over the world at that moment were  weeping...in not only   confession and  the desire to  coming before God  in repentance,  but also  in deep  communion  with and for our precious sister  whose love and  commitment before God on our behalf was so awesome...

I know  we will never forget it...

5. How often do you frequent the dry cleaners? Starch or no starch?
Hubs stopped  having laundering done after the military when he had his   uniform so starched  when he took it off he could stand it up in the corner..

Only during the winter season   do we take woolens  preseason and post season, generally.

6. What's a food or beverage you enjoy that's named for a place?
My  partner in crime  while teaching used to bring these to teacher  staff meetings  ...  easy to make and  most ingredients readily available.. and very tasty...

I was drawn to this area of Ireland  in Donegal.

I  long for  the remote...  born an only child... I am perfectly content being set apart. as long  as I have  my Savior and thee,  Hubs!
Not very social is it...  but there it is, my heart!

Really, last year on our trip  around Ireland  when our bus rounded the bend and this came into view something grabbed me..it was like coming home.  I was pulled  right into the scene and  all the way through that area along the Fin River I imagined living there, and  oh how, I longed for it to be true.. The town of Fintown isnt much, I must say,  so  the  next  town of consequence is Letterkenny...  where I found a grocer and  a gas station...   I mean I was  ready to dive right in..
I could still  make a go of it.. this home is on the market..

it  has an aga  which suits me to a tee...  but I  must say that frig is a nightmare..  I started out with one just like it  when we lived  our first year of marriage in Germany. I suppose I could get used to that again.  (UUUH)
But the view... there it is!
All we'd would need would be a few sheep  and we're set! If you dont  know it.. Im smiling so contentedly!

The Simple Woman Day Book

For Today...September 26, 2016
Outside my window...

Cloudy and  very cool...  My kind of morning!  hahahaha

I am thinking...
about how desparately  our nation needs to be crying out to God for mercy...
I attended the  Nancy De  Moss's Cry Out Women's Conference  simulcast Friday night and it was  awesome.  To subscribe to their 40 day prayer  vigil  go here!

I am thankful...
to live in a nation  where   for now we are free to assemble to honor and pray to  God, the Father,  Creator of heaven and earth!  May we ever have the right to share openly  about our amazing Savior and lover of  our souls!

I am wearing...
my pjs and  comfy terry!

I am creating...
I have  the autumn bags out and want to  start  decorting some..  but I must finish my Beth Moore Study homework first!  Only I  lesson to go!

I am wondering...
if this  stuffy head, cough,  and  swollen feeling throat is going to  dissipate ...  Please  pray  with me that it will... I dont need  a full-blown episode this week!!  Could just be allergies!!

I am reading...
II Timothy
Jesus Calling  Devotional
I have already read  The Convinient Groom and   Surrendaer Bay.... from this series...   They were   so great...  these to go...

Our author, Denise Hunter has taken the following scripture"

Zephaniah 3:17

The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.

He will take great delight in you;

in his love he will no longer rebuke you,

but will rejoice over you with singing.”

Then she has written allegories  that highlight   each section of the verse
...  understanding how  Jesus is the lover of our soul and the church is His bride...    each of these books takes a section of the above verse and creates  a  romantic tale of finding a true love that exhibits  much the same kind of  qualities that  we  find in our  Lord...  In the Convenient Groom..  it was  about a kind and loving friend  who saves  our heroine  from great humiliation and loss.. how he too  sacrifices himself  in the probability that things will not  turn out  in his favor but he gives himself  for  the  woman he loves with all his heart  with little hope of  returned  feelings...  our  damsel  must learn  a lot about  humility    before she can see what she had and almost lost! I cant wait to  get into  book one and   read on!!!!

I am learning...
to  try to make the most of each  realm of my  existence each day..
  physical...  mental...  spiritual!

I am hoping...
to do a  good job  as small group leader  of our Bible Study class on Tuesdays... I want to be on top of my game  in how Im feeling....  This  study, "Entrusted" is  on IITimothy and is  fantastic!!

In my garden...
not much color.. the mums are  full of buds but  slow to open.... bet they will this week because  it is cooler and  more moisture...
just a little rain helped the grass green up some
The afternoon sun is so  pretty as it  dapples  the ground!

Hubs is so cute when he  plays gardener.. in his  cool straw hat!
The Angel Wing Begonia has   been  a brave   and valiant    plant blooming all summer in the  dry, dry heat!
Our first week of Autumn has  proven    there are  better days a comin'!

Farewell

After  17 years of   blogging  I am  pretty sad to  just fade  out  with  hardly  anyone showing any   farewell,  concern  about my  surger...
