The Simple Woman Daybook

The Simple Woman Daybook when I first started blogging in 2008 I was an avid follower of TSWD , then for some reason I lost track of it...

For Today...

February 8, 2016

we are enduring another cold snap with the treat of sleet and snow today and tonight

Outside my window...

well, I didnt wish to disturb the blinds so I stepped out on the front porch and took this shot across the lawn.... a typical mid February landscape... partly cloudy ... barren trees... but the birds were singing merrily.... I am praying the groundhog got it right.... an early spring!

I am thinking...

I am so hopeful that when I go to ENT doctor this afternoon he will be able to give me something to knock this respiratory problem Im having to kingdom come.... Ive been bothered by for a month!

I am thankful...

for so many things, but mainly for my dear hubby.... God is so good to me!! I think of my silly nature I had as a young girl...and I think of all the times we quarrelled over ridiucloius stuff when we dated... but God always intervened and we stayed together for 5 years... then God was so good to allow hubs to go to Germany, instead of Nam, preserving him for me... so in march we will be celebrating our 44th Anniversary..... add 5 years to that... yes God has been so good to me!! Below you will see just one thing he does... all the dishes whether for a simple day or a huge dinner party...

I am wearing...

I thick white terry robe over my pj's.... bedroom scuffs and plenty of tissues ready nearby.. bah!

I am creating...

A valentine atmosphere around the house...

celebrating reds of the heart

Celebrating my loved ones!

Pulling out the roses and scattering them everywhere... a fine prelude to the coming spring!!!

Celebrating our life together!

I am going...

to the ENT this afternoon for this cold/virus/allergy/ sinus trouble bleh! Can hardly wait!

I am wondering...

about the package hubs found on the porch this morning.... I know it was my new sheers I ordered for our bedroom.... that means the pressure is really on to get the room painted and ekekek my job of removing the wallpaper form the one wall.... pray the good Lord that it was strippable!

I am reading...

and do the new Bible Study from James Mc Donald.. entitled

Lord, Change My Attitude: Before It's Too Late

Yes, I have been having a bad attitude regarding something happening in one of the most important spheres of my life..

I have been a complainer... because a 3 million dollar project in the plans seemed to me in my experience and what I thought was my wisdom was a wrong path for us to take.. not in this economy.... and for what great purpose would it serve... The Lord has been speaking to me, that in this instance, there are greater things he wishes to teach me and I want to learn..

I am hoping...

to have some facetime this week with our precious girls.... it is a mainstay of my week! It is so have to be a long distant granny!

I am learning...

to hold my tongue.... hahah I think some folks my quietness is due to my not feeling well enough to engage... but that is not entirely true.... I am learning the benefits of holding my opinion,...

In my garden...

Well, the area is still snow covered so I cant tell if anything is happening, but we planted a bed of tulips and daffodils last fall.. and I am anxious to enjoy them... praying the deer didn't find them yet!!!

In my kitchen...
recently we did some ordering and I got a couple of new gadgets... actually because my daughter had them and I enjoyed them while at her home over Christmas... We got a salad spinner which I love because now we can buy the heads of romaine which once they
are cut, rinsed, spun,, and stored they last much longer that the precut salads you buy. We also got a lovely large oval slow cooker that I cant wait to use... but I need to go grocery shopping.. later today.

A favorite quote/scripture for today...

James 1:2-8

2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

A peek into one of my days...

today I am sharing one of our daily pleasures....

we only subscribe to basic cable which doesn't offer much...

we were watching mainly

HGTVand the food network.... the regular networks to me offer nothing!!

But now we have a full menu to choose from... I am loving it...

last night prior to the big game we watching an episode of Sherlock... what a cool show......

One of my favorite things...

that I got for Christmas, my dear friend, Colleen, gave me this Bath and Body works lotion,.... smells exactly like sugar cookies baking... I wore it to church yesterday and made my hubs crazy....it actually will satisfy a sweet tooth.. just to enjoy the aromatics!!!!I rub it on my hands while Im drinking my second cup of coffee! hehehehe

From the board room...

This is my first pin for my dream bedroom.... I love these colors.... Im off soon to purchase the wall paint !!

Post Script

The above pin was from Elise's blog...Coffee and Pine.... a lovely site.... and she also enjoys cooking
