Thankful Thursday

As we approach our traditional Thanksgiving with all the details of preparing for hospitality and feasting I am shaken with the reality of what this season means for so many even in our communities. So many broken families who have no idea where their loved ones are.... the devastating reality of having lost jobs, inabilities to provide for families...perhaps the bittersweet memories of past celebrations that are impossible to recreate today.... utter despair of many people who dont even nor ever have had a traditional family gathering nor memories to cling to.. just eking out an existence perhaps blurred by the oblivion of substance abuse...
this reality really gives me pause!
Today I am honored to work on the benevelent committee, preparing 48 food baskets to share with our sister inner city church. What a blessing to be able to serve in this capacity. Pray with me over these basket(boxes) that each home will receive a special touch from God..that His name will be glorified in each home with thanksgiving and praise.
