Messianic Passover

A Delightsome Life

And he said, "Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples."

This week Passover is celebrated,  to  commemorate  God's deliverance of the Jews from  their  slavery in Egypt....  It  is  in remembrance of how  He  told them to  sacrifice a  spotless lamb and  paint its blood over the lintels of their homes  so the death angel  would pass over them when he came to kill every  first born son of  Egypt including  the son of Pharoah....   a Messianic Passover  is the fulfilment of this   blood sacrifice  through the  spilled blood of Jesus Christ on the cross   to  deliver those who   will believe  He is who He says  He is, the son of God, from their  sins  and   give them the gift of   eternal life...When God instituted  Passover,  he told the people to keep it  forever....  I believe that  since   we are grafted into    family of God's  chosen  people  it   is beneficial for us to   keep it, too,   in Messianic form...  which  ritual  is  found here.

I  am  not  able to    be prepared  for this   this year,  but I wanted to  repost last year's Seder.

"Because it was such a special celebration I enjoyed with   Lynn , and because our dear Amanda and Joshua were not able to be with us, I did take some photos to commemorate this wonderful experience.
I am always excited to use Lynn's mother's china which I love so much!

Lynn's placesetting included the 4 cups for the fruit of the vine.
 photo Passover2012004.jpg

The Seder plate included the parsley for dipping into the salt water representing new life mixed with tears and sorrow.
Also the bitter herbs, Maror, (horseradish) along with the sweet, fruity charoset ( a mortar-like paste made of ground apples, nuts, honey, dates, dried cherries, and wine. Again, the dipping of the bitter and sweet, which comprises the Christian experience. A roasted egg represented new life.

At the far end of the table are the basin water and towel for the ceremonial hand washing.

Lynn explained the importance of the matza.

You  can see   we both had  copies of the Haggadah  with   speaking parts for  us both...   This is especially  a wonderful family   practice as there are wonderful   passages for  children  and  the  Holy Story becomes   so  much  more alive  in their hearts...

The first cup celebrated our deliverance from bondage!
 photo Passover2012012.jpg
Later we enjoyed the actual meal.
 photo Passover2012016.jpg
We enjoyed a Mediterranean roast chicken  with     fruits and  veggies , deviled eggs, roasted asparagus, and the remaining charoset.

In celebration of the sabbath we enjoyed lighting the menorah and just resting in its festive light!

I purchased this candelabra    just for these special occasions....  "

The Power of His Word

God's Word

God's Word is  so  powerful...    it   is the power  of salvation for those who believe... it    has the power to   lead and direct and   show  us the way  to all righteousness through Jesus Christ....because He is the Word.
John 1  begins:
'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome
it."
Therefore,
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15

It is through  the study of God's word   that  we find our hope   in God...    it is   in  the Word taht we  see the  wonderful works fo God and  know of His deep love and compassion for  man..  and  when  we   know  HIm  we love Him adn desire to keep His commandments  for   theya re good and   our obedience  pleases  the Father...
Prayer
Dear Father in heaven,  thank you so much for loving  us  so much that You sent Your only begotten Son to  earth  to live and  die for us....  to   be  the Word  that     offers us   hope, salvation,  peace,   and   life  because  He is  the Life and the Light of the world... Remove the   shackles , the  bonds of slavery that we have  that   bind us and  keep us  entangled in the  stuff of this world and  give us strength and the   desire to rise and shine  with Your glory through   a better understanding of your Word...  for Your commandments are  good Your precepts  will  light our path and  we will find rest for our  souls!

A Mantel for Holy Week

I love to   decorate the   mantel   seasonally....  and    Resurrection  season   is   a favorite  time...
The glory of   this  celebration is   the resurrection of   our   Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ....
so  to me it is  important to   incorporate    worship  in my life in everyway...   I   love  to sing this song  each  Resurrection Sunday

Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!

Earth and heaven in chorus say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heavens, and earth reply, Alleluia!
Love's redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids him rise, Alleluia!
 Christ has opened paradise, Alleluia!

Or   just in case     the book  seems to  want to topple, which   it  may  in the night and I wouldnt be too happy.....
I still   can focus of   the  cross

Jesus, keep me near the Cross;
There a precious fountain,
Free to all -- a healing stream --
Flows from Calvary's mountain.
In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever,
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.

Wishes Can Come True, Can't They

Happy Spring and   Pink Saturday
When I look out my window I see this...
 photo dfaebb9d-fde1-488b-892c-53b1b55121c1_zpsa2762d4c.jpg
Spring is  trying so hard to break through...
 photo 2928dccb-b6e8-477c-abc9-427d0dbbfd93_zps898a2e57.jpg
But the   weather  just  won't  cooperate!
 photo earlyspring2012103.jpg
So   I turn to   sources for   inspiration....  like the   greenhouse...

It May Spring, But.....

Well, today is the   official  first full day of spring,  but there is  an icy chill in the air  even though the sun is shining...  I can  look outside  my windows and see    evidence  of the calendar,

Even now  the daffodils   have  fully bloomed out in all their radiant  glory,  and the crocuses   have already   gone,
and the pansies
  photo Lancaster2012090.jpg
are holding their own in the  up and daown   temp  changes.
I   adore the   vibrant  colors of the  flowering quince,  such an early  bloomer
come to  enliven our  desire for  spring!
and now the  forsythia is   showing off her gold!
 photo Prespringpinkandmoon027.jpg
But there  is   not one  but two threats of snow in the forecast for the next few days....  and   I am           reminded of this  shot I took last  Sunday   on a particularly cold,  rainy  day.
Too soon to get  too optimistic  about  spring's arrival,   Old Man Winter just   won't let go his grip  on  the weather, and we  dare not  put away our winter gear quite yet!
