For Today~ July 11, 2016
Looking out my window...
muggy... super humid today... promises to be a stormy week!
I am thinking..
about how things pan out... how time passes so quickly with every one's hectic schedules that really important issues that need attention can slip right past you and you're left feeling so horrid... I know that sounds sort of odd but it truly is a serious matter.. I am then left to sort out between myself and God the Father,,, how and why and what is to be done instead of what was intended...
I am thankful...
that our Heavenly Father knows and knew in advance how this month would pan out and perhaps this is a test for me personally to choose rightly and be obedient even if it means that things will not be done in the regular format within our United front... but will be personal... and how important this personal responsibility is to the mighty scheme of things!
I am wearing...
still in my bed clothes.... and it is so sweet... no real reason to get dressed yet. still working on my first cup of coffee!
I am creating...
a cosy and lovely atmosphere in our master bedroom
I am watching...
home and cooking networks mainly.... waiting for new PBS shows to come back... long wait!!!
I am reading...
Ann's book is such an amazing read.... it fills me with hope, faith, and love...
I am listening to...
'Moving' by Secret Garden on my Pandora list
I am hoping...
to see my daughter's home and newly staged rooms on Zillow this week.
I am learning...
be quiet and lean my ear to that small still voice that leads and directs my path!
In the kitchen...
I am loving my citrus juicer.. making fresh squeezed lemonade on these miserable days is such a treat.... and the juicer makes extracting the juice a breeze...
Yield: 10 servings
If hosting a party, we suggest making a double or triple batch of the base lemonade recipe and mixing up a couple different fruit purees (strawberry, peach, blackberry, watermelon, strawberry.) Keep these separate from the lemonade until serving. With this approach, guests can add as little or as much puree mixture as they please to their individual drinks—we suggest 1 1/2 ounces puree per drink. They can even mix two flavors together if they are feeling adventures.
1/2cup granulated sugar
3 1/2cups boiled water
1/2cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (3 or 4 lemons)
White Peach Puree
1cup white peaches,
cored and roughly chopped
Before juicing the lemons, rub the skin aggressively with ½ cup of granulated sugar. This will release the natural oils in the lemon skin and perfume the sugar for the simple syrup.
In a small bowl, combine ½ cup of recently boiled water with perfumed granulated sugar to create a simple syrup. Stir until the sugar has completely dissolved. Set aside.
Combine the remaining 3 cups of water, lemon juice and simple syrup in a pitcher. Stir. Place in the refrigerator and keep chilled until ready to serve.
While lemonade is chilling, purée peaches and water in a food processor until liquefied. Strain, reserving the juice and discarding the peach pulp.
Add puree to lemonade and chill mixture longer if necessary. Pour over ice and serve with complementary herbs if desired—we recommend a sprig of thyme in each glass.
In my garden~
With the hot temps and the stormy weather we have had over the last couple of weeks... everything needs cutting back and weeding.... But it is too hot...!!!!
Vinca vine is scaling the walls at an alarming rate...
Looks horrible and not much fun to eradicate!
Also.. we are hearing that Zika mosquitoes are in Virginia and they a re active during the day... yikes!!!
Late July usually looks this way until a nice temperate breezy day but all the rain has escalated the overgrowth!

potted gardens are so much easier to maintain this time of year
in light of the horrible events occurring around our country
A moment from my day...
May all who have ears to hear... please spend some quality time on your knees especially as we are about to move into the political conventions and there have been many threats connected to these... pray that nothing will happen to propel our nation into a state of unrest and government intervention.
