Day 6 in Adare Ireland for lunch

Mid-morning of day 6 we were back on the bus heading north to Limerick... through quaint villages showing off their typical architecture and bright colors.

Lovely churches,

and masonry walls

soon we were passing by a lovely golf course. the Adare Manor Golf Club

as you can see the manor below...

and then we were in Adare..situated in county Limerick, Adare, a designated Heritage Town, is one of the prettiest and friendliest villages in Ireland. It was founded in the 13th Century on the river Maigue. I tend to agree, Adare is a lovely town... and we had just long enough to find lunch and do a bit of shopping!

But first we passed right by
The Franciscan Friary

Crossing the bridge over the river Maigue from the Adare Manor Golf Club, the friary is a characteristic example of the monasteries erected in Ireland during the 14th and 15th centuries. It was founded in 1464 by Thomas, the 7th Earl of Kildare, for the "Franciscan Friars of the Strict Observance". Although now in ruins, the remaining walls show a remarkable outline of its former elegance.

These   ruins  always   capture my heart!

So   as Lynn  and  I  strolled the main street of town we came  ipon the Red Arches  Inn.   There  were a couple of  alfresco diners  but we chose a quiet corner inside
I have a  delicious bowl of potato leek soup  and a  a  cool fresh and crisp  mayonnaise egg salad...
I think i expected a devilled egg  but got something even better.

love their homemade brown bread and    creamery butter!
How about   whole  hard boiled eggs with    a  lemon  mayo  cream on top  with  assorted  fruits and veggies and  the very lightest  honey mustard dressing.
the next shots are  just  around the inside of this very  quaint  restaurant

We had  just enough time to  inquire  here at George Stacpoole Antiques about  a certain gift we were  seeking for a special person.  AHA!   Success!
and then we were back on the bus    on our way to Limerick!
